    It was basically a perfect night out! I had been craving steak and the meal met all my expectations. Our waiter was attentive and responsive without being intrusive. He noticed when I reacted to the noise from the TV which was showing the Kentucky Derby and muted the TV and put on music. I had the steak house salad which was generous and had a delicious dressing. This was followed by a T-Bone steak cooked to perfection and served pre-cut off the bone but with the bone. I had a baked potato and steamed broccoli which was cooked just right. I left feeling full and satisfied, certain to return again!

    They have THE BEST burgers anywhere. Go for lunch and have that... As for dinner and the steaks, it's take it or leave it. That said, this is Riverdale. So, since there are not many restaurants, this becomes a winner.

    Delicious. We really enjoyed ourselves - nice knowing you don't have to go into Manhattan for a great steak. Also, having free valet service made the experience that much better. Will definitely go again when we're in the mood for a great steak.

    I had to find a restaurant close to my clients office and found this place in the Zagat...was not at all nervous because Zagat tends to be right on the mark...booked the place and when i got there, my sales manager was really impressed as was my client ...i would highly recommend this place for the courteous manners (the waitress was so nice and informative) and great service...plus, the food was delicious! A+ for Jake's...

    I went to this restaurant because I wanted to take my boyfriend out to a good steak dinner, but I didn't want to go all the way down to the city. This was the only Bronx Steakhouse I found. The food was far beyond my expectations!! My boyfriend cleaned his plate and we both went home full and content. I had an excellent experience there and will definitely go back there again.

    I had been here before with a group and decided to return with a friend. There were so many of my favorite foods on the menu. I had the special Clam Chowder, Mussels Fra Diavolo, and T Bone steak with mashed potatoes and frizzled onions. Took 1/2 home to enjoy the next day and save room for dessert and delicious coffee. Friend had the pork chops, brussel sprouts and also enjoyed them very much. Our waitress Gail was very helpful and had memorized an impressively long list of specials and ingredients. She was attentive without being overbearing. I shall return!!

    At the start the professionalism was great. At the valet parking you are greeted with a smile and respect. They exhibited dependability with your car. At the reservation desk we were approached with a professional attitude and Miss Gail who took our order was very courteous with a pleasant attitude. She was very informative in reciting the specials and throughout the evening check on us to see if everything was fine and if we needed anything.

    Unfortunately,we were disappointed in the overall experience&would not recommend Jakes-our reservation was at 7:45p and the table was not available until 8:15p; we did not see our waiter once we were seated for at least 20min and anything that we asked for (lemons,fork,napkin)he would forget and then remember whenever he saw us; obviously our waiter was overwhelmed with too many tables to wait and having to run up and down the steps to the kitchen...; we ask for a medium porterhouse steak and received a well done one & our waiter told us that ours went to another table ... We had to wait for another one to be cook, meanwhile our sides were on the table getting cold and our guest had to eat without us;

    It's tough to find a really nice place in the Bronx and I had high hopes for Jake's. The restaurant is nicely laid out and the waitress was pleasant but inept. We ordered a $70 bottle of Jordan Cabernet of which she did not offer a test before pouring half the bottle into two glasses as if she was serving beer. She then proceeded to come back three times in the first twenty minutes to ask " are we ready to order" which is annoying to say the least when you are trying to have a conversation with someone you haven't seen in a year. The steak au poivre was mediocre as there was too much bland sauce and no visible poivre. I won't be back!

    We were very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We had gone to Yankee Stadium for a tour and wanted to find a good place to eat - there was nothing nearby and I found Jake's Steakhouse online. It was only about a 10 minute drive to the restaurant. The food was fantastic - large portions and top quality. We had everything from chicken, steak, to prime rib,and none were disappointed. The service was outstanding. I would highly recommend this place; I will even return from Long Island just for the food.

    Jake’s was a very pleasant surprise starting with the convenient valet parking and the wonderful food. Service was only fair. Frankly we (4) were accustomed to quicker service however it worked out very well as we had plenty of time to enjoy not only the company but the food. Prices were very good, the upper level front tables had a view of the park and the food was cooked to our orders. The ribs were to die for and too many to eat by yourself. The filet was huge for the price and I could not finish it making our doggie very happy when we returned home. I strongly recommend this place as an alternative to the high prices in Manhattan. The restaurant has a fine bar and a few tables on the main level and its upper floor is lovely with views of Van Cortlandt Park. The food is good - not great - steak is huge, but not a fine filet mignon - more a great steak. Portions are huge. Bread is fair; sides are ok - creamed spinach good - and mushrooms - fair. The service is rather indifferent. In addition, although I made it clear that this was a birthday celebration, there was no effort to acknowledge it at the table.

    We were going to a concert at the Palace Theatre (Jackson Browne) in Washington Heights. We couldn't find a restaurant near the theatre to our liking. I decided to go on opentable and see if they could recommend a place to eat not too far away. I saw Jakes Steakhouse which was only about 5 miles from Washington Heights in Riverdale. It worked out perfect, parked our car in the lot, took a car up to the restaurant, cabbed it back in time for the first song. We were a party of six, everyone ordered steaks (would recommend the steak for two) I ordered the seafood fra diablo over pasta, everything was delicious. Ala carte, the sides were awesome. Tip was included the bill was about $600.00 - drinks, bottle of wine and desert included.

    I have heard good reviews of the restaurant but the dinner I had there was only so-so. Perhaps I should have ordered the steak instead of the fish but if a dish can't be prepared right, then it should not be on the menu. Mine was salty and nothing to write home about. The restaurant itself is nice.

    My husband and I were looking forward to dinner at Jake's, mostly because we had heard so many Riverdale locals rave about it. When we got to our table there was a flat screen tv right above us. More sports bar than fine dining, don't you think? The calamari and the salad with gorganzola and dried cherries (a special) were pretty good, but no more than you would expect from a decent steakhouse. The shrimp scampi was in dire need of salt and the filet in the surf & turf was cooked to specifications (med rare), but somehow was a little powdery. Both dishes lacked in flavor. The beer and wine lists were good and the creme brulee was nice, but overall, the meal was not anything I would shout about.
