First, let me just say, I hate "modern tapas" type restaurants. It's just a way for restaurants to overprice their food, so that an entree costs about $55. I was not aware Distrito was a tapas style restaurant. The food was "ok", nice presentation, really cool looking bar, great service, extremely overpriced for tapas (i.e. $10 for chips and salsa, $20 for a small tapas dish). We ordered a pitcher of margaritas and it was $60. For two people we spent $200. It is doubtful I will return.

Distrito is still great but it has come down a little to me due to the menu change. I'm just sad the old menu changed but do understand that you have to tweak the menu to create profit and keep the doors open. Food is still fantastic, service still good & the noise level is always fine as it is always pleasant, energetic & people having a great time. If you haven't been, go.

My husband and I were celebrating a wedding anniversary with the kids and other relatives and chose DISTRITO because we knew that everyone would find something that they liked on the menu. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun. The restaurant even brought out a special treat at the end for the table and that was a nice, unexpected touch. Great place to celebrate!

Just not impressed with the food or the service. The drinks were great. This place survives on hype alone and is very disappointing for a Garces restaurant. Our server disappeared forever. She forgot the second drink for my wife and felt so bad that she took her first drink off. She meant well but when we needed things, she was not there.

  • Best Mexican on the East Coast

I've been trying new and exciting Mexican recipes for well over twenty years. I've dined on the east coast, west coast, mid-west, and even parts of Europe looking for a good Mexican dish. Distrito is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant on the East Coast (just couldn't beat my favorite Seattle restaurant, Oaxaca). We loved the modern twist and the plated-to-share system. We wanted a low-key anniversary and chose Dostrito because we both really love Mexican. Everything from our chips and salsa to our enchiladas to our corn bread and delicious dessert was on point. We were even wished happy anniversary by several of the employees and our dessert was brought out with a candle! I'd eat here every day if I could.

I have eaten at other Jose Garces restaurants and generally liked them. My problem with Distrito is that the food was not flavorful enough. I took my niece and her husband out for the husband's birthday. My niece and I are both native Texans and all three of us have been all over the world so this is not just a hankering for chiles, onion and cheese. My nephew grew up in Taiwan. Many of the dishes were bland. The steak nachos were just grease. The wait staff were accommodating and everything else was great but we went there for the food.

We were excited to try Distrito after reading some good reviews. We are big fans of Mexican and were eager to try the food. I will start by saying that the service was great-everyone was very friendly and attentive. Additionally, food and drink were served quickly. The margaritas were very good. I must say, however, that we were disappointed with the food. Nearly everything we ordered was heavy on the grease when it arrived at our table. I realize that some is inevitable due to the ingredients being used, however, the grease seemed a bit excessive. Additionally, we were hoping for better flavors from the food. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bland or bad tasting, but we were expecting some great flavor combinations, which we didn't fully get.

This restaurant is very nice. The lights were a bit dim. The seating was interesting. After a margarita the swinging seats aren't such a great idea. The margaritas are very good! Food is average but there is a good variety of things. The server was very nice and accommodating especially since I had a bit of an annoying crowd. Overall the restaurant was pretty good.

Distrito is probably the least expensive restaurant of the restaurants owned by Iron Chef Jose Garces, but it is still quite expensive for us. Including tax and tip, we spent $70 on brunch for 2 (we both had a glass of sangria, so it would have been less if we just had water). Though it's not a place we could afford to go very often, the food is absolutely delicious and the service is excellent. The wait staff are relaxed but polite and very attentive. I can be a bit of a picky eater and usually remove items from my food that I don't like (radishes, red cabbage, avocado) but when I go to Distrio I just trust that everything is there for a reason and eat it anyway and it's always amazing. I recommend the toritalla soup and Mahi tacos.

We were first introduced to Distrito at their Scottsdale location. A different beast all together-quiet and intimate. The PHL location is much more lively and loud, with a fun and celebratory atmosphere. Same great food but the service wasn't as attentive and atmosphere was just vastly different. The food is unique and memorable, and the fish tacos will leave you craving the cabbage relish the morning after.

This restaurant has great ambiance. Bright bold colors and contemporary decor. The food is good and the guacamole and margaritas are some of the best I've ever had. However service is somewhat lacking and the portion sizes are very small (like small tapa size) so if you want to leave full expect to end up paying more than you anticipated.
