first day of restaurant week lunch offering. Ordered the beet salad and the underlying greens were limp, and the sauce and beets tasted as if the dish was prepared the evening prior and stored in a cooler overnight....not very appealing or appetizing. Ordered the chicken as a main and equally not impressive....nothing special about the flavors of the breast of chicken or the very small piece of fried chicken and the underlying sauce.....veggies and small potatoes were not seasoned sufficiently.....had the chocolate cake and it tasted store-bought. Best part of the meal was the $7 glass of pinot.

The experience was good but I was a little disappointed with our waitstaff. He was a nice guy but not as attentive for an upscale restaurant. he seemed bothered by our presence and I found that to be annoying...perhaps that was in his personality but I found it rude. i may stick with the "happy hour" scene vs. eating in the restaurant.

I ate here Aug 1, 2014. I've been to this facility before a few times, at corporate events sponsored by my company. On those occasions, appetizers were good, service was good, and overall a very nice experience. This was my first time having dinner there as a guest. I had seared salmon. Salmon is not all that exciting to start with, but can be prepared many ways, some quite good. I have to say that first, the serving portion, for a $30 entree was disappointing, about the size of a deck of cards, the the fish as overcooked, dry, and bland. The order of mushrooms were great though. My companion had soft shell crab, which was good, much better choice than the salmon. Dessert is where the place shines, baked Alaska, was great.

My guests loved the setting. We ordered lunch from an attentive waiter. A bus girl dropped a glass of water which hit the table and broke, splashing water on the lap of my 98 year old guest. The manager came over to apologize and to move us to another table. We were presented with 2 comped appetizers which were appreciated. The food has improved since I was there in mid June. The salmon salad had vegetables added to the lettuce. I convinced my guests that the desserts were tiny and they would have room. The desserts were not just a brush of color on a plate but bowl size to my great surprise. This management listens to their guests. Even with the accident, my guests were happy with their experience.

In a word... Superb! Innovative menu. Fresh ingredients artfully prepared and presented without being smothered in sauces or spices Make note, this is NOT a restaurant for noisy kids or a raucous throw down after bowling with the boys. It is appropriate for a refined dining experience that should be savored with plenty of time set aside to enjoy each course paired with the appropriate wine and shared with significant others. Yes, you will get punched in the wallet but the value is there so you will not cry about it. Don't get upset with the dainty portions. I assure you that each dish will be rich and filling and by the time dessert has been placed in front of you your appetite will be sated and your thirst quenched. Bon apetit!

Considering the reputation this restaurant has, I was expecting much more in the way of service and quality of food. The food was good, but it did not wow me considering the prices. The waiter was not aware of our birthday celebration even after I personally called the restaurant and reminded the hostess. Plus it was noted through Open Table. We had dinner on a Tuesday evening and the service was OK but not great. Considering how slow the restaurant was that night, I would have expected and hoped for a bit more attentive service

For the finest, truly suburban dining, 2941 is the best and brightest. The food is daring, beautifully presented, and perfectly prepared. The staff is the perfect blend of posh and affable; they are attentive without being irritating, professional, and knowledgeable. The art they've put up in recent years is a bit too "Yellow Submarine" for my taste (I miss the Rodin.) but the views are still spectacular and there's still some fine art on the walls, far better than your standard restaurant art. The price is also excellent, considering what you get. Definitely worth the trip.

Went for a special dinner with husband and parents, none of whom had been there before. They were all very impressed by the space, which is gorgeous. The tuna tartare appetiser was fabulous as was the asparagus caesar. The soft shell crab, a seasonal special, was the best entree. Husband and I had the strozapretti which was good - pasta done perfectly - but a little under-seasoned. Would like to go back for the bar menu.

My girlfriend and I make it a point to visit this restaurant at least once a year. We love the location, the decor, the service and the food. We have never had a bad experience with either the service or the food; though sadly sometimes the noise level and the conversations of other tables can reach you, which would be our ONLY complaint. But other than that we do recommend this place to anyone looking for an extraordinary meal who is able to afford it!

This was my second time to 2941. It is a great place to take business associates because it is quiet and well spaced out so that you don't have to worry about the table next to you hearing everything you say. The guests also tend to be quiet so it is a good place if you don't want the noise you get in most restaurants. The first time I was at 2941 (at least 2 years ago), the lunch options were outstanding. I would have rated it a 4.5 (only negative being that parking is a pain if you don't do Valet). The menu was excellent, and the presentation was excellent. But this second time around I found the menu to be a bit limited and the portions very small. But the prices are moderate so I got something to eat along the way home.

It's unexpected to find such a destination for foodies in an office building out by the beltway, but the setting is indeed beautiful and the food is fabulous! We did the wine-paired 5-course menu, and the sommelier couldn't properly pronounce any of the varietals or regions, but she has a great palate. The pairings were excellent! And how great to have a female sommelier! We never did "click" with our server. We were being funny and he was just going for serious, but he was there whenever we needed anything, so we can't complain! Overall - surprising location but great meal. We celebrated our anniversary here and though the restaurant was quiet (Monday night) the wait staff was excellent and attentive without being intrusive. The mushroom tartine is more like crostini but delicious. The Caesar salad was a hit with my non foodie husband. The halibut was tender, perfectly cooked and fantastic. I had the crab risotto and am in love. Brightly flavored but delicate with my newest favorite ingredient, Buddha hand confit, this dish was worth the visit. We ordered a dark chocolate dessert and the restaurant supplemented with a special creamy dessert (sorry, can't remember what it was) which was very good too and a welcome treat to our evening.

We selected this restaurant for our anniversary. The food and service were very good, though a bit pricey. The Halibut was moist and delicious, and the soft-shell crabs nicely prepared, though I would have preferred them sauteed, rather than fried. The green salad and Caesar salad had just the right amount of dressing. the baked-Alaska type dessert was excellent, and the cheese-filled, freshly-baked complimentary do-nut holes were very welcome. The only real drawback is the room itself, which appears to have been an office building lobby in an earlier life. It is one large room, about two stories high, with floor-to ceiling windows the length of the restaurant, overlooking a terrace and tree-lined lake. A good wine selection, but pricey.
