Sea food dishes are perfect. Catch dinner before the setting sun. Coordination was off on service but worth the wait. The Ghiradelli square and parts of the restaurant is in construction uproar, many vacancies surround the vicinity. The bar knows how to help anyone see beyond the surroundings. Look forward to the next Shrimp & Crab Louie. Great ambiance

We always enjoy dining at McCormick and Kuleto's in San Francisco. The view is awesome, the food and service are always great. That is one restaurant that we always visit at least once when we are in San Francisco (which is several times a year.)

The front of the house seemed very disoragnized. We arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 minutes after our reservation. We were seated in the far left section facing the water. The air conditioning was on very high and freezing back there. Our server, I don't remember her name, was great. Very attentive and super friendly.

The front person was little rude. I know that it was crowded but when I went to confirm the reservation, I was told that i HAVE to come back at that time. And HE made a mistake on # of people on my reservation. Anyway, overall, the food was good and waitress was nice. I will go back for sure.

My husband and I celebrated our 1 yr anniversary and had emailed McCormick & Kuleto's why we were celebrating. They were the most attentive employees and had made special menu's for us. We were so impressed with this restaurant and the food was spectacular that we encourage others to try it. My husband and I will no doubt be visiting this place again even if we do live in Houston, TX it is worth it.

We went for my husband's birthday. It was GREAT. They honored my request for a table by the window. They had special menus that said HAPPY BIRTHDAY and they gave him a complimentary dessert with a candle. This wonderful treatment made the experience extra special. As usual the seafood was impeccably fresh and well prepared. We all loved everything fromt he appetizers to the desserts. The service was friendly and responsive.

A friend I was with found a chunk of glass in his champagne. It was kinda scary, cos the champagne glass was not cracked or chipped. The manager came and apologized, but did not offer a free meal and not until I asked "I hope we would have this meal for free" he said: "Yes of course". He was very kind and apologetic, yet it should have come from him and not me. The rest was great, I liked the food and service. Adam Kozlowski

The service and setting was excellent and we had a good time. The entrees were mediocre and the shrimp dish my wife ordered contained spoiled ingredients. To the server's credit, he offered to replace the dish with another entree after observing that she left most of the plate untouched. He also removed the dish from the bill. It was our anniversary dinner so we did not let anything ruin the night and our server added to the fun.

hostess made us wait for 15 mins, to the EXACT time of our reservation, in the bar despite tables being available. Server was slow to acknowledge us at the table. They ran out of the Halibut Cheeks by 6:45pm... poor ordering on the kitchen's part. Food was acceptable, but on par for a chain. I wouldn't be in a hurry to come back here.

The food was very disappointing. The seafood was not fresh and slightly overcooked. In fact, it felt like it was reheated. Perhaps go there only for drinks, as you get to enjoy the view. But aside from that, there is very little to recommend from a culinary perspective.

The food was good, but not outstanding. I've eaten at the McCormick & Schmick's in downtown San Jose and I remember the food was incredible. I did enjoy that the waiter got that we didn't want to be pestered. For a touristy location, the restaurant was enjoyable for locals. That was a surprise since I've been at other restaurants in the area where you can easily feel overwhelmed by the tourist aspect.

  • The wild salmon was very dry
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 3/26/2008
The wild salmon was very dry which for the price made the experience "not so good". We knew it had been frozen and that was OK, but it was cooked way too long. The potatoes were not quite cooked all the way through either. In general we had a nice time, (because the other meals were fine and the service was good). We did not say anything because by then we were very hungry and didn't want to wait any longer. We ordered the walnut/blue cheese salads but the walnuts didn't come with the salad and it took the waiter a while to come back to our table so we ended up eating the walnuts separately! People with difficulty walking had a miserable time trying to get to the bathrooms down so many stairs too.

Loved their salads. Just the right sized portions; delicious, fresh. When we used our gift card/certificate, the manager had to figure out how to use it; but they let us know it would take a while and didn't bother us with "their" problem...handled very well. We will return. Reservation worked out just fine; no problem. Ample parking on the street at 11:30 a.m. on a weekday. Perfect.

this is a place my partner and I have been coming for years--especially for oysters. the raw seafood bar is one of the best. of course, you can't beat the view. once the reconstruction of the complex is finished I imagine that it will be a favorite for those living in the new units as well as the tourists who pack it in droves. it does seem to cater to tourists. however, as prices for food and wine keep going up, it does limit how often locals would dine there. perhaps it will need to become less of a formula restaurant and begin to offer something really unique in the way of "special seafood".

Easter Sunday dawned with beautiful blue skies and golden sunshine. The restaurant is situated on a bluff overlooking a waterfront park and exposing the shimmering waters of San Francisco Bay. We had a table facing floor to ceiling windows revealing a spectacular view of bay traffic. Our waitperson was very personable and made sure we were happy with everything. The food and beverages were very tasty, full of flavor and prepared visually appealing. There was a family of 27 with 9 children under the age of 12 just off to the right of us and they were treated so well by the waitstaff that it was enjoyable to watch them. It didn't hurt that the children were very well behaved. We had a very enjoyable Easter meal at McCormick and Kuleto's

    Dined on 3/22/2008
Food was pretty good. Waiter was okay, but not very attentive. Ordered "no cheese" on my salad, but it had cheese. Had ordered steamed crab (I like it warm) before the waiter suggested getting the crab on the salad. He didn't tell me/I didn't ask about the crab on the salad being cold - it was. Waiter didn't acknowledge the cheese or the cold crab - instead he didn't come back to check in with us until we were done. Very touristy. Nice place, but diners were in tanks and flip flops. Awesome view, but felt a bit rushed. Not able to sit and linger.

The service was a little slow until we changed tables and sat by the window. After the change we got a good waiter who was very attentive and helpful. The appetizers were excellent, but the menu had changed from what we had expected. We had pulled up the menu on line and had selected our entree before we left. The halibut meal was tasteless, and unappealable, my stuffed salmon was satisfactory. The drinks ordered was missing ingredients, and tasteless. One of the problem drinks ordered was a keoke coffee. I expected more from the San Francisco location, than the San Jose location that we had visited before.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2006

We took a friend there to celebrate his 60th birthaday. There were 8 of us. The sour dough bread was definately not fresh; probably day old. Salmon from Ketchikan orders were only luke warm. The crab cakes were dried out and too doughy. Not much crab flavor in them. The Fisherman Stews were great except that one of them was missing the claw part of the crab that everyone else got. Overall, our experience at this location was very disappointing. Don't think that anyone in the group would care to return again. It's a shame because I've had realy great experiences at the Las Vegas and Seattle locations where the sea food was fresh and hot.

  • Salads were good. Vegatables
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

Salads were good. Vegatables were good. Service was fine. Unfortunately, the grilled wild sockeye salmon was bad. Wild sockeye salmon that's fresh and cooked appropriately is tender, flaky, and has a notable (but not disgusting) fishy flavor. This was tough, not flaky, and extremely fishy-tasting (not in the strong, good, salmon-flavor way -- but in the bad, fish-that's-not-fresh way). For $25 a plate a person should get better. For the record, we love wild sockeye salmon and eat it when we can, so we know what it should taste like. I have also eaten at McCormick's and Schmick's in a few other places across the country and have always been happy. This was a disappointment.
