Two steaks a bit tough for this calaber of restaurant. Very good flavor. Large serving. Mushrooms and sauce very good. Waiter initially very attentive. Half way through the meal seemed to disappear, had to pour own water and wine. Fine for average restaurant, but this shouldn't be for a $400 dinner for 4.

We have been to several Capital Grilles and the one @ Chestnut Hill seems to be the best food - it must be the chefs. Morton's & Capital Grille are our favorites and we have been to all the steak houses in Boston and around the country.

I had not been to the Capital Grille in a number of years, and never to this location. I was very disappointed in our entire dining experience. We waited 40 mins beyond our reservation time for our table and then the service was awful. While the food was good, the overall experience reminded me of a loud, over-priced family restaurant instead of what I remembered as a classy, elegant spot with first class service and food.

    Dined on 6/14/2008
We've been to the Providence location several times for lunch at the bar, but this was our first time both in Chestnut Hill and in the dining room for dinner. The Chestnut Hill location offered plenty of parking, complete with optional valet. The ambiance is just what you'd expect for an old guard steakhouse, with paneling, leather, and brass. Our server, Meghan, was pleasant, attentive and informed about the menu. Our dinners were lovely, prepared exactly as described. My husband was, however, somewhat disappointed with his porterhouse, feeling that the cut was a little light on the tenderloin. He also felt that the dry aging has been better in past visits. That aside, we enjoyed ourselves, and would definitely recommend the restaurant.

After having eaten at the Capital Grille restaurants in Burlington, Boston and Chestnut Hill, without question the Chestnut Hill location is my favorite. The food is always spectacular and the service is always beyond compare. I've never felt rushed through a meal, nor have I ever felt the service to be lagging between dishes. I love the dark wood interior and the very comfy booths. The Capital Grille is one of my husband's and mine favorite places to go and will continue to be for many years to come.

We had reservations at 8:15 and didn't get seated until nearly an hour later. The steak was the best I've ever had anywhere so it was worth the wait. Everything was a bit too salty for my taste, but was considered flavorful to those in my party. Dining, even in upscale restaurants, has unfortunately turned into a casual experience, but the Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill has a formal ambience, perfect for an occasion or a dressy night out.

Four of us were out to celebrate my brothers birthday and we had a great experience. The table was thoughtfully set with "birthday decorations" and our waiter Benoit was excellent! He was attentive, and helped us choose two excellent wines. The steaks and sides as always were wonderful. What I really like about the Capital Grill(s) is that they have always delivered an enjoyable high quality dining experience regardless of location.

This was a great option for a special occasion. Usually when I dine for a special occasion, I make a note in my Open Table request. We have never really had a good result from this (i.e. tables that are not exactly romantic, loud locations in the resturants, etc.) but this was not the case with the Capital Grille. Not only did we have a nice table, but there were rose petals on the table and a card wishing us a Happy Anniversary. In addition, we received a complementary dessert. These touches made the night very special.

As always, my experience at the Capital Grille was outstanding. Our server, Sean Goodwin, was among the best I have ever had. His knowledge of the wine list made for an excellent recommendation, and his steak suggestion that was not on the menu was delicious. He was prompt, friendly, and professional. I will request him by name on future visits, which I hope will be sooner than later.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 5/11/2008
A few things surprised me about my most recent visit to the Capital Grille. When we arrived, we were faced with a 15 minute wait despite holding a reservation. The waiting area was cramped with other people undoubtedly experiencing the same. When we were seated, there was a sizeable stain on the tablecloth that had obviously not been changed. Finally, during the meal, we were brought the clam chowder instead of the lobster bisque. Not large problems, just small things that the Capital Grille tends to do correctly. The food and service were otherwise terrific.

The Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill has the same excllent steaks and food with a very high end look. My wife prefers this version; I prefer the one in Back Bay, which has a lot more exposed wood. As always, you get a first class steak prepared well with very good service.

Overall, the service was outstanding. The valet service was also extremely curteous. The waitstaff was very professional. My steak came out too rare and I sent it back. Not only did they give me an entirely new dish (promptly) but they added in a complimentary side of potatoes as an apology. The steak was good but a little more bland than in other fine steakhouses I have visited. The side of parmesan truffle fries were also a little bland. The "wedge" salad was good. The wine list is extensive, and my friend's Manhattan was made perfectly. As much as I enjoyed my visit to this restaurant, there are other steakhouses in the area that I prefer.

We've been to Capitol Grille several times before, have always had great experiences, were looking forward to going back to celebrate dual birthdays. Excellent service and great steaks had been the key. This experience unfortunately was excruciating in a number of ways. We ended up spending almost three hours there for no particular reason other than slow service. The wait staff was inattentive overall, our waitress took my empty beverage glass after asking me if I wanted a refill, never returned. Tables on either side of us arrived later, left sooner. My porterhouse steak, which I absolutely loved before, was overcooked, overseasoned. Birthday dessert was very good, but for over three hundred dollars we expected more.

Was a bit dissappointed this time. Service was good. Prices are hagh for what you get. Ordered a steak rare (was told warm red center) but arrived raw. Was late at that point and I did not want to delay my guests so I did not send it back. A couple of B&Bs at the bar after also pricey ($15 per). I think I'll try Flemings or Ruth Chris next time around.

We've visited other Capital Grille locations and we always like the food and wine list very much. At the Chestnut Hill location we were surprised with the ambiance. It was pretty crowded and noise to a level that it made our dinner a little uncomfortable. It was my wife's birthday celebration and it was almost impossible to keep a conversation in our table due to the overall noise. We ended up cutting short the dinner and having dessert at home. Not sure if we will visit this restaurant again.
