Made a reservation because of food menu. But that day it was buffet style which i was not expected. Nothing I wanted to eat and and of course I got charge for it. It was over priced for selection of the food. Sad Christmas dinner....

The food was amazing! I mentioned we were celebrating my mom's 75th birthday, they not only gave her a birthday dessert, they brough cake and coffee for the entire table. Service was good except I asked the waitress for the cheese menu and she never came back to take my order but we would definately come back.

My wife and I went there for Thanksgiving evening meal. We expected a restaurant that would offer a standard meal excused by the holiday. But this was not so. The chefs had wonderful seafood: two kinds of smoked salmon, shrimp, clams, and mussels. The carvery offered turkey, lamb, and delicious beef. The highlight of the meal was a Cajan stuffing which was engaging. Really top-class flavors, lovingly concocted. The manager and service were competent and pleasantly friendly.

Both hubby and I are not turkey lovers, so were looking for a Thanksgiving buffet that offered more than traditional fare. Found it and more at Hangar Steak in Burlingame! Had lamb and prime rib at carving station plus a very tasty butternut squash, pancetta, arugula, roasted walnut salad. Other side dishes were a cornbread, dried fruit, corn & water chestnut stuffing (very yummy), roasted seasonal vegies and an amazing sauteed clams & mussels dish. All were very festively displayed and plentiful. We were seated in a quiet and romantic nook of the Hangar Steak dining area overlooking the bay. Even the coffee was great! Oh, and the service was spot on without being intrusive. We will certainly be back.

We like Hangar Steak because the steaks are ALWAYS cooked perfectly (medium rare) and aged perfectly. We've been there about 12 times in 4 years and the steaks done so consistently. Just wish the Lobster bisque was still on the menu. Great place to have your last meal before getting on a plane!

We had dinner her and thought the food was pretty good. The steak was a little under done but it was good and the sauce was tasty. The risotto was good but a little different than others I've had. I do think our waitress was not as good as some of the other ones. She was attentive and responsive to our questions but I noticed the other waiters going more in depth on some of the food items on the menu (not in response to questions, just as an introduction to the menu).

We have eaten at Hangar Steak several times and the food is always excellent, complemented by the stunning view of SFO and the quiet ambiance that allows for conversation. On this occasion, however, several problems arose. The waitress had the attentiveness of a snail, forgot to ask how we wanted our meat cooked, failed to refill drinks and avoided the table as much as possible. The olive oil that was served with the bread had a bitter taste that nobody could explain, and after the waitress brought another sample with the same problem, no attempt was made to resolve it (and the mystery remains). Despite this, highlights of the dinner were the bacon-wrapped dates, caesar salad asiago tower, lobster ravioli and cedar-wrapped salmon. Yum!

Service started well, but waiter disappeared for 40 minutes after bringing entrees. Two requests to produce our waiter yielded no result, in fact he served two tables next to us and didn't acknowledge us. No offer of dessert, coffee, or after dinner drinks. It was date night and we usually order all courses. Would go back but would not accept a seat in his section.

Unfortunately, Hangar Steak is still a restaurant in a hotel. I tries hard to be upscale but necessity dictates a fairly pedestrian experience. Many patrons came in shorts and jeans and looked like they just stepped off a plane (which they probably did!) Flat screens throughout the restaurant are showing the the "fireplace channel". Food is good but just misses the mark - watermelon arugula salad needed cracked pepper and no tomatoes - bacon wrapped dates needed more cheese - cedar wrapped salmon was barely cooked. The kitchen must be somewhere else in the hotel as we waited a bit long for food. The bar in the lobby seemed packed and fun. Appetizers and drinks there would be nice (view is great!) but eat somewhere else for the price.

Overall experience is great! The server is good. The food tastes wonderful, especially the prime rib-eye and the bacon wrapped dates. The rack of lamb is okay. The greeter at the restaurant is a big plus to my experience in here. He has everything ready by greeting you with your name when you arrived. And always wear a big smile in his face. Thank you to Hangar Steakhouse. Both my fiancé and I had a great time!

I am in this restaurant almost every Tuesday evening as I stay in the hotel for business. I know many of the restaurant staff and the food is excellent. The view of the water/airport is relaxing and romantic. Tables by the window are the best. This particular week, we were not as satisfied with the server. Albeit friendly and sweet, not as efficient and attentive as the others in the months past. Perhaps she was new to the establishment or having an 'off' day. I would return regardless. She wasn't terrible, just not as efficient.

It was a special occasion - my son's Birthday and it was not even acknowledge. We were able to move from our table in the middle of the room to one near the window and see the airplanes land and take off from SFO airport. Waitress was nice. Food was nothing special. My crab cakes were to think and too much filler. My son like his free range roasted chicken and his girlfriend had the salmon was she said was goo.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 6/15/2013
Hangar Steak is located in the Marriott Hotel. The ambiance is very sterile. It is as if they are going through renovations. When asked, the wait staff said that has been the layout of the restaurant for some time. Two of us had rib eye steaks. The steaks did not live up to the restaurant name. They were thin and tough. For the price a complete injustice. One of us had the lobster ravioli. It was not a ravioli at all. It was more of a bouillabaisse with a ravioli tortilla on the bottom and top. The lobster was like rubber. Then the cocktails. We had two different glasses of the same cocktail. The local pour and the tourist pour. Nothing was cheap. If it was not for the great wait staff, the whole experience would have been a bust.

Hangar's Mother's Day Sunday brunch is great. The food is good and so is the variety. They have very polite servers and during this event, they give all mothers a rose stem. The view of the airport is wonderful. It's a good idea to call in advance and make reservation for the main floor as it gets booked very fast. They do a really good job of decorating everything in white. Live music also adds a little class to the experience as well. The only negative (it's really not a negative) is that the first year we went when my daughter was born, I remember more white decorations which added to the beauty of the place.

Went here for Mother's Day Brunch. It was a great day. Food selection was great, sitting area in lobby was spacious, great view, great service, had a crafts area for the kids to make grandma, mom, and auntie, some mother's day cards and bracelets. We have been to this hotel many times, and one thing always rings true, the people who work here seem to really like their job, and treat the customers accordingly. Place was over staffed, which is a rarity in this day and age, which only meant that customer service was an A+. I was in a motorized scooter, and people were constantly asking if I needed help, could they carry my plate for me, or get me anything. Would definitely recommend.

The food and service at this restaurant is just average. Everything is overpriced. My wife and I each ordered the Sea Bass for $32 a plate. My cut was obviously from the middle section of the fish and was okay. However, the plate they served my wife obviously had the tail piece. There was very little fish. They had left the skin on our fish with the skin side up which was unusual, but we were able to work around that. Our two meals with one beer and one glass of wine would have been $91 without a Restaurant.com discount coupon. We can get better meals at many restaurants on the Peninsula in the $75 range.
