    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 7/25/2008
The hostess tried to remove us already sitted with menues to another table in less "preferred" location by lying to us that she is trying to "squeese" 5 people at this table. The room was only 25% full and there were plenty of tables with similar configuration. In effect, we did move to the similar table right next to it but the table in question remained unoccupied for another hour when the restaurant was almost full.

food was very good, but not memorable. The wine list was adequate with a good selection in all price ranges. The ambience was fair with a bit too much noise. A place to be seen and prices to match.

Service and food were fantastic! We let the waitress, Erica, know that it was my birthday and she treated me like her best friend all night! My only complaint is that we were sitting outside near the speakers and at some point during the dinner the music got way too loud.

I have been a big fan of Sushi Samba for years, and not once have I ever been dissapointed. From the minute I walk in and greeted by the front staff and Jamie and the other manager Roberto(?), to the cold martini as requested, to the food and ambience, it is always a memorable night. As a local, I am proud to have Sushi Samba as one of my favorite food and drink places. Now if you could only bring back the Beef Maki...You would have gotten the overall OUTSTANDING mark. Kudos to a great place!.

  • When I checked with the hostess
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006

When I checked with the hostess for my reservation (I was on time) she told me that there wasn't a table available quite yet, however we'd be seated 15-20 minutes later. No big deal I thought, but over an hour went by before we were finally seated. I had also checked in on the hostess at the 30 and 45 minute mark, to see how things were comming, and both times I was told my party would be seated in the next five minutes. The waitress recommended a few great dishes, however she forgot one of the sushi rolls that I had ordered. I didn't mention it her as, it turned out we had plenty of food, and were not charged for it. Overall great food and drinks, however the attitude of the hostess staff was rather elitist and unwelcoming.

Food is excellent however, there is always a 20-30 minute wait even with a reservation. I took my husband for his birthday and we were crammed into a table that was too small for our party (it was for 4 and we were a party of 6) and it was the most "uncomfortable" meal I've had in a long time. Not sure I would dine at Sushi Samba again for any special occasion.

  • We've been to Sushi Samba
    OpenTable Diner Since 2004VIP
    Dined on 3/20/2008
We've been to Sushi Samba a number of times. The food is quite consistent. The Neo-Tokyo roll and Fried Snapper are worth returning for. The waitress was wonderful- pleasant and accommodating as we had to make an 8pm show. The only issue, which I've found to happen on numerous occasions is the clearing of our table. Before we've finished dishes, the staff would ask to clear our plates (many times between courses and on several dinner occasions), which makes us feel like we are being rushed out. I'm guessing the restaurant is so busy and there's such high turnover they are instructed to do that. All in all, it is a small annoyance and I would return given all of the other great things about the place.
