My son and I went there to celebrate his birthday and it was perfect. Our server (Jillian) was friendly and offered us some great advice on the best dishes of the day. My son had the steak with Roquefort and said it was one of the best he's had in a long time. I had the seared scallops which were cooked to perfection. When we looked at the dessert menu, our server said the kitchen had made their flourless chocolate cake which used to be on the menu but now only occasionally. My son wasn't sure if it would be too heavy and considered the mousse and our server said she'd bring him the cake and if he didn't like it she'd take it back and bring the other. Suffice it to say it was AMAZING. The server & great food made it a special event.

We sat outside so our table was delightfully quiet and we could converse easily. Service was great and the food was good. We ordered the steak frites, but I was happy that they offered to substitute garlic spinach for the French fries.

My daughter, a vegetarian who is also lactose-intolerant, ordered the Vegetable Farcis w/o the goat cheese. 40 minutes (!!!!!) after we had ordered, our waiter (an extremely nice, attentive man) came to ask if there were any way my daughter could eat the goat cheese. My wife explained her allergies and the waiter went back to the kitchen. A few minutes later, our waiter comes back and says that the chef simply cannot take out the goat cheese from the Vegetable Farcis. (?!!) She ends up ordering the salmon and spinach salad without the salmon. We have now waited over an hour for our dishes and in the bill, they charged $17.95 even though there wasnt any salmon in her salad (despite previous times when they have discounted the price).

Great variety of menu items for the kids wanting a sandwich to adults wanting a full meal. Happened to be Restaurant Week, so I got an incredible 3 course meal (chicken and mushroom crepe) for $16. Only downside was the noise level - we were 6 at a round table, and I couldn't hear my friend across the table.

The food here is consistently good, but this is generally not my choice of restaurants. I think the atmosphere is a little stuffy for my taste. They make a solid steak and great appetizers. Part of my family loves this restaurant, thus why I come fairly often. Small gripe: asked to split a soup and they brought us two half orders, charging us 1.5x the amount for the soup. I believe there was less soup in the two half-orders than a single full order, as well.

Ate brunch with a family member during restaurant week. While I opted for the three-course menu (gazpacho, open-faced tuna sandwich and chocolate mouse), my cousin ordered a small salad and quiche. Hers was actually better by far. While the gazpacho was actually wonderful, the tuna sandwich tasted stale and had been over-grilled. I had major order envy. Having said this, the service was wonderful.

I have eaten here before and enjoyed the food. This time, the special--Dover sole--was utterly bland, and came with a glob of tasteless spinach on top. Plus, the cost was quite high, more than $10 over the other seafood dishes. It just wasn't worth it. I was truly disappointed. Others in our party of six were satisfied with their less costly meals. Service was okay considering it was a busy Friday night.

We took the family here for my birthday dinner. The food was good as usual. My son wasn't thrilled with his steak because he said it had pepper. We later learned that the steaks soak in a pepper mixture before cooking.

We were about 45 minutes early for our reservation and could not be seated at any of the empty tables in the dining rooms since they were all committed to 6:30 reservations. It was one of those times, that all the outdoor tables were also taken. After ordering drinks we were able to get a table in the bar area that was vacated. Unlike our previous dining room experiences, it proved to be very unpleasant. The table was really too small for a party of 4, the ceiling fan directly over us could not be turned down. with no table cloths, dishes were clattered onto the tables, the nearby bar was noisy and crowded our table. Skip the bar area if you want to hear your dinner party -- forget about having a relaxing dinner there.

This is a five minute walk from me on a strip with MANY restaurants. The food is consistently well executed and fairly priced (although a few of the salads are on the "silly small" side). They are usually packed for dinner and as a result the food is always fresh (lots of turnover). The servers are courteous and professional, manager is gracious and genuinely interested in your experience. I have provided constructive criticism once or twice (done with positive attitude) and my issue is always addressed without hesitation. They are great with older people like my mom (patient and courteous). Join their rewards program - worth it! Cocktails are slipping a bit. The only thing that needs tweaking. And bring back duck confit with cherries!

We have enjoyed dining at Mon Ami Gabi for years - however, I dont think we will be returning. One or two slips would merit another chance, but our experience on Friday evening leaves little or no hope. The main courses included their signature Steak Frites and the highly priced and hightly touted Dover Sole. The steak was over-cooked and still managed to be cool. The fries -- also cold. The Dover Sole was almost certainly frozen, not fresh, overcooked and dry; and served under a bed of spinach apparently designed to completely obscure the sorry fish. Service was spotty at best. Sad indeed.

Had the experience where you ask for medium rare, it comes rare, you ask for a just a little more and it comes back 15 minutes later medium well done. And you know if you try again it will be another 15 minutes with uncertain results so you just eat it, literally and figuratively.

I made a reservation and requested to be seated outside on such a lovely day! I learned it was Bethesda Restaurant Week (July 29-August 10) so we had a 3-course lunch meal for $16 per person. I ordered the French Onion Soup, the Sandwich du Jour (open faced sandwich with smoked salmon, asparagus, and a side of pomme frites), and dessert option was chocolate mousse. Everything was delicious (but I may have wanted to order the mushroom and chicken crepe instead). Our waiter was also very friendly and attentive. This is such a cute French bistro!

We really liked our server Ben--he was charming, fun and courteous. Ben's interruptions to our table were timely and done carefully, I noticed. However, I didn't like that after making reservations for two and specifying it was a birthday celebration, we were given a table right in front of the bussing/service table where plates and left-over food were being cleared and a lot of noise made--even water fell to the ground and we were asked to lift our feet. Ben really saved the night. The food was nice but not extraordinary.

White the French Onion Soup was tasty, the seafood crepe was dry and rather tasteless. For some reason they put the seafood on top of the crepe instead of in it and it was cold, rubbery and was missing seasoning. The pancake (crepe) beneath the topping was just folded in quarters and had a cream sauce splattered around it. With the sauce being sparse, the salad garnish overpowered the dish with it's bitterness.

Brought 2 friends here that have never been.......this is our go to spot and it's always enjoyable. The salmon tartare was wonderful and the steaks - perfect. Only complaint I have is the waiter at the next table. LOVES to talk to the customer which is wonderful, if I was eating by myself, I'd probably enjoy the chat - but he's loud and frankly I don't want to hear about his classes or his travels....I want to have a conversation w/my guests.
