This particular restaurant is not as nice as Clyde's of Tysons or Mark Center in regards to ambiance. I would go there for lunch again, but probably not for dinner.

Hopefully this doesn't happen to everyone, but my last three visits to Clyde's have shared a common theme: really slow wait-staff that haven't been very responsive. Ex: this time it was Mother's Day, and we had to wait almost 15 minutes for the check!

Except for the noise level, it was wonderful. Our group's first time at your place. Found the on-line table reservation system confusing, when I tried to change our party size and it lost the original table I had. finally called on the phone and got it straightened out. All employees were most helpful, via phone and in person. It was a good time, even for the baby (10 months) we had with us. Thank you for a memorable family event.

I was a GU student when Clyde's was opened (by Stuart Henderson (SP), a lot smaller of course, but the bar was "the place" to meet 'n greet and I really enjoyed this trip sitting at the bar before dinner...trip down memory lane. My guests were really impressed that I knew Bill Danoff and the story on where the title to "Afternoon Delight" originated. Our meal was excellent although we had a bunch of teenagers all around us ( prom night?) or "senior trip" so the ambience was totally different than when I spent too much time and money there in the mid '60's.

We had 7 total people in our party and we had a 7:45 reservation (finally seated around 8pm). I ordered the mushroom ravioli and asked the server if there was any meat in the dish (i'm a vegetarian) - she assured me there wasn't. When my dish came there was diced ham on top, so when our server came back around i pointed it out. She apologized and said she would get me a new one. She came back several minutes later to let me know that there was also chicken stock in the sauce so they were making me one with a butter and shallot sauce and it would be out in 2 minutes. By the time my food arrived, the rest of my party was done eating. The manager offered free dessert for the trouble, which was nice but not enough.

As a native Virginian I have visited Clyde's many times, so on this occasion I brought my European wife and her relatives to enjoy a dinner there. I was delighted that Clyde's was up to its traditional standard, since the food, atmosphere, service and decor were all outstanding. We enjoyed excellent crab cakes and scallops (my relatives for the first time) and a very good Russian River wine. The staff handling the reservations and seating were friendly and responsive, in spite of the chaotic atmosphere at the front door, and the service was excellent. It was a really great experience.

We had an issue with the waitress. She took the cash that was supposed to go to the bill and kept it for herself as the tip. We were unaware this had happened as it was seperate checks in a group of 5. One girl had to pay extra due to the waitress taking the cash toward the bill as a tip and then others in the party also tipped her so she got a huge tip in the end.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2003VIP
    Dined on 4/6/2008
Sunday night was half-price for a bottle of wine. The guests at the adjoining table took over-advantage of this bargain. They were drunk, loud, obstreperous and obnoxious and clearly ruined our evening. The noise level was high enough to be hazardous to the hearing of the servers and other staff. The bath rooms also needed attention. If they want this as a watering-hole for Georgetown students, that's okay, but at least warn the rest of us. Clearly, an unsatisfactory experience.

This is one of the best Clydes in the City with a much nicer menu than the others. Ambience can be nice if you select the back room, the Attrium, otherwise it can be noisy, especially in the front bar room. Nice selection of food to please all types of palettes. A very reasonable wine list and selection by glass. I always take my out of town guests there as it is a nice American restaurant with food no one would be disappointed with!

We love Clyde's at our office. However, during this meal, the service was so slow (and the restaurant was for a change next-to-empty) that it took nearly two hours to complete our meal. As many would agree, that is a bit too long for a working lunch, especially when the time spent was because of poor service versus being overly productive. Though we will continue to visit Clyde's, we may think twice before going for another lunch.

We lived in Georgetown for several years and Clyde's was one of our favorites. On this visit we were in georgetown and wanted to be there. We were really glad to see them using open table. Made things easier for us. The place was crowded as usual on the M street scene. The crab cakes were good not as outstanding as they have been in the past. Enjoyable visit, but I have discovered the Clyde's at Gallery Place and really like that one.

We were there for lunch on a busy Saturday. Two of our group ordered cheeseburgers which were overcooked and had the wrong types of cheese vs. how ordered. They decided to live with them, though, because the kitchen had been slow, probably due to the crowd. When the server came by ask how our meal was, we commented on the problems, and within a few minutes the manager appeared, which made a good impression. However, he blew the opportunity to cement it by arguing about whether the cheese was in fact wrong, asking if we wanted the burgers replaced...we didn't, as we were too far into the meal...and then expressing apologies without making any accomodation on the check, offering us a free dessert or the like. Penny-wise/pound foolish.
