the cheese fondue is always superb and there was more white baguette bread than dark bread (an improvement). the presentation of the house salad has changed somewhat (the cucumbers and tomato are chopped)and is less appetizing, but the dressing remains superb. the waiter (Todd) was extremely attentive....outstanding service. mixed drinks were also great. we were able to modify the chocolate fondue to focus on the fruits rather than cheesecake etc......very flexible.

The service was absolutely impeccable. The food was absolutely amazing. The drinks were very well-made. I will be telling everyone I know to take their loved ones here to celebrate an occasion. Dean, our server, was the best that we have had in a long time. I even had a special request that he personally took the time to see completed. He will do very well as a manager in the Reston restaurant. One word sums it up: EXCELLENT!!

The service, food (if you love fondue), and ambiance are what makes this restaurant wonderful. The staff members go out of their way to be of assistance and helpful. They are exceptionally accomodating. The noise level varies depending on what is going on at the restaurant. It is usually pretty quiet but on our most recent visit, there were several big parties and prom dates which increased the noise level slightly - though in our experience it has never been loud. This is a good restaurant to go to if you enjoy long meals. It is perfect for a romantic date. You can savour some good wine, food, and company. It is not however a good place to go if you are in a hurry or impatient.

We went there on sat night april 26th, had a 7:30 reservation, did not get seated until 8:10pm. We had cheese fondue and salad. My boyfriend had cesaer salad. He is very allergic to pine nuts. We did not see the notation on the menu That pine nuts were in the cesaer salad. My boyfriend had a severe allergic reaction and we had to leave and go the the ER. Pine nuts are not normally in a cesaer salad, my boyfriend is a caterer and has never seen pine nuts in a ceaser salad. I would suggest you make the notice larger or the waiter inform your patrons that pine nuts are in the salad. The other couple that was with us enjoyed their meal very much. We look forward to trying it again sometime. Cathy Ambrogi Cathyrnnicu@aol.com

It is a good place, clean and the people at the front were very friendly. The only suggestion that I would like to make is that there is no need to rush the clients to finish their food or pay their check. During our stay we felt that we should leave at least in three opportunities, we even asked them if there were already closing the restaurant (it was like 11 and they close at 12 ) I forgot ...the cheese cake had a funny taste...like if it wasn't fresh made so we didn’t eat it... Best regards Paula

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

My only complaint is that it took 1/2 hour to be seated. The host was very apologetic and offered a different but not quite right table for us (4 people on two two-tops next to each other) but they obviously have trouble judging how long diners will occupy a table. There was another group (3 people they tried unsucessfully to seat at a two-top with a chair added on) waiting in the lobby with us with the same issue. The owners should not try to mazimize revenue by inconveniencing their customers.

If you are hungry and would like your food all at once, this is not the place for you. That is not a complaint, just the obvious. We were in the restaurant for at least three hours. It gives you an opportunity for conversation while you're eating each course or waiting for your food to cook. Our first course was a cheese fondue, the second was a wine broth where we had to wait for our meats and veggies to cook to our desired doneness, and finally the chocolate fondue, great accompaniments. At the end of the meal we were defintely stuffed, we were eating for the three hours we were there. It was a great experience, however I would make the melting pot maybe a once a year thing, it's not somewhere I would frequently go to.

We had a good experience at the melting pot. The food was great and the service was ok. Our reservation was at 7:15 but we weren't seated until 7:40. It was our first time at the restaurant-- we told the server that when she took our order. Although we were told not to leave the spoon in the pot and how long to cook our meats, our server didn't really explain how to do everything. We ended up dumping everything in the pot instead of using the fondue forks. Some of our entree ended up over cooked. Aside from that we had a good experience.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 3/28/2008
I was there for dinner last Friday night and had a very enjoyable time with our friends. It was a special birthday for one of the diners. It was very unfortunate that we were overcharged. We were two couples one of which ordered the comprehensive special dinner and the other ordered only the dinners. The check included a special cheese course which was never ordered at all and we did not order an up-charge for a special cheese used in the fondue. We mentioned this to the waiter and he was matter of fact that that was ordered. Under other circumstances we would have asked for the manager but did not want to ruin a special occasion for our friend. This has left a bad taste in our mouth for future dinners at your restaurant.

My husband and I celebrated our 16th anniversary and it was our first time experiencing a four course fondue meal. I really enjoyed it and it was memorable. Our waiter was very good and very nice. The only problem I had was that my pictures came out dark, because the room was dark. It's great for romantic dinners but not for picture taking. Other than that everything was very nice! Thank you, Soraya

It was my 1st visits to the Gaithersburg branch since they closed Rockville. We went to Rockville every year for our sons birthday and always had a great time. Our waitress appeared sick and sucked on candy while trying to talk to us. She didn't clean the mess around the pot each time, so we were left with a messy table. I'm a past waitress and it was extremely noticable and annoying to the rest of my group as well. We made the best of it and didn't complain, but I won't be using this facility for future birthdays - It's too expensive to leave hungry and disappointed. I just wasn't feeling it during the entire service. Sorry

We really enjoyed the food and the ambiance but our waitress seemed annoyed and pushy with us. We had never been to a Melting Pot before and took some time to order just because it's a little overwhelming to understand right away. We didnt get to enjoy our courses because she was trying to bring out the next course before we were done. My suggestion is to give some feedback to the servers not to push the menu or courses for 1st timers! Maybe it would go better next time we visit. Overall we left feeling full and that we would want to return! Thanks
