The food was great, the service was poor, it took a very long time to get the food out so if you are going on a lunch hour this is not the place to go.

We went for lunch on Sunday. The place was empty - surprisingly. The food was OK as was the service, but we were underwhelmed given the great reviews we had seen.

Wonderful ambience. We had a fantastic New Year's Eve dinner that was not rushed in the least. They seated us directly (best seat in the house, by the window, overlooking the exterior water wall) and we had a long, enjoyable, and quite romantic dining experience. The food was good, but nothing that blew my pants off. Overall, our praise was relative to the attentive, yet never pushy service we received and the confortable atmosphere of the restaurant.

This has long been one of our favorite restaurants, but we haven't been for over a year. It has only gotten better. The service is attentive and prompt without the hovering or rushing that sometimes occurs at other places. The food was outstanding, most notably the roasted chestnut soup, the rack of lamb and a fabulous chocolate saffron tart (not to be missed). The new chef, Tyler, brought us out some piping hot fresh baked mini-baguettes to take home for breakfast the next morning: the best! Congrats to JAAN! keep up the good work...

There was real potential given the setting. However, it was difficult to get service; even the basics like refilling water was absent. The waiter seemed to have very limited English skills. The menu items ranged from good to bad, poor consistency; and the dessert we ordered (chocolate tart) had a burned undertaste -- how can chocolate be bad?

Took my fiance to Jaan on Valentines for a treat. Well, the prix fix 5 course with choices at $110 per person wasn't worth the price of admission. Food is embarrassing and only received 3 courses not 5 as advertised (could be 5 if you include coffee and tea). And, definitely no excitement when the meal is FINALLY presented to us. Service was negligible in the way that we felt neglected. Water was not refilled, waited longer than others for our next course, bread didn't come until we're half way through the entire meal, dessert took 30 mins to come after the main and wouldn't have waited if we knew what was coming. I might go back to Raffles to enjoy their very cool looking lounge area. But, I won't be going back to Jaan

This is the third year I've gone to Jaan's for Thanksgiving dinner. In the past, the menu was memorable and delicious. Unfortunately, this year was a disappointment. The complimentary cucumber gazpacho was oddly flavored. It was not a hit with any of us. The first course: the tiny crab cakes were good, light but could have used more seasoning. The pumpkin gnocchi was very creamy and I liked it, but didn't taste like pumpkin. The second course turkey roll with stuffing. The thin strip of turkey was very dry and didn't even tastte like turkey and the stuffing was nothing special. On the plus side, it is still a beautiful room and the staff was excellent. Considering how expensive it is, it should have been better. Maybe it's the economy.

Service was very slow so the 2 1/2 hrs free parking still cost us $12 after we spent $400 for a meal for 2. The wine was spoiled from a problem with the refrigeration during the heat wave, but they just kept serving spoiled tasting wine--even after we brought it to their attention. One server for the entire place made us have a long wait between courses. Will not recommend this place nor shall we ever return--being charged for parking for 5 minutes over the 2 1/2 limit was the end of our limit. The presentation of the food was nice, but not at the cost of a 2 star Michlein restaurant. When we want to spend that much money for a meal, we will select better food, service, location & parking.

They paid attention to the note that I had said it was my friend's birthday and gave her a dessert w/ a chocolate plaque that said Happy Birthday and a lit candle. Then, the chef gave the other two of us free matching dessert! It was a truly memorable experience, topped w/ a cherry, and I am going forward telling my friends about this find.
