I asked for my meat medium, and received it extremely rare. For filet mignon I was unimpressed with my meat, crispy on the outside and very rare on the inside. For the money we were spending they should know how to avoid such a scenario. The waiter was happy to fix it, but it was a little late in the meal before he came to ask how things were. My boyfriend's meat however, was good. Our sides were delicious, as was the wine. Lovely atmosphere and decor, the bathrooms were unique. And dessert was delicious as well, but hard to finish because we were so full!

The food was great, but the service left much to be desired. I had two beers and my girlfriend had diet soda. That should not excuse the fact that we received water AFTER the meal was complete. I waited at least 10-15 minutes for my second beer so there was a solid amount of time where I was without anything to drink. The caesar salad tasted a little funny. The dressing had an acidic kick to it that I am not used to. The filet, however, was probably the best cut of meat I have ever had in my life. It was seriously like butter. I would go back just for the steak. Overall, a good experience...nothing that cannot be fixed on the next round.

City Hall is a consistent delight. The steaks are superior and always cooked to our doneness preferences. The wine list offers great choices at all price points. The dining room is open and inviting and the service attentive and not overbearing. Every special occasion we've spent there is that much more memorable.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2005VIP

We thoroughly enjoyed City Hall. One point worth noting; we ordered a bottle of wine. The Captain opened and poured it. Upon tasting we found it wasn't right and refused it. We were told "You will still have to pay for it" not, "I sorry, what is wrong with it". Oddly the Captain didn't taste the wine, even when requested. After a somewhat uncomfortable moment, the Captain left. The server returns with the list and informs us the Captain doesn't drink anything with alcohol. The server had tasted it, though and confirmed it wasn't right, and that we won't be charged. We picked another bottle, which was great, and enjoyed our evening from that point forward. Why would the captain open and serve the wine if that person doesn't drink wine??

I had not been to City Hall for 10 years. I recall the tower of seafood, the stone crabs in particular, being a standout. Fast forward to now and City Hall crossed my mind as a possibility for taking Mom out for Mother's day. We are both glad I decided on City Hall. The Chrysler seafood tower was excellent even missing the out of season stone crabs. The Anson Mills grits with white truffle oil were spectacular (such a simple delicious side dish), and the Delmonico steak was a perfectly cooked standout. I would rate the steak close to or on par to the steak at Peter Luger's in Williamsburg but the service, sides, appetizers, and everything else about City Hall was better. I especially appreciated the attentive & informed service we received.

Enjoyed our meal overall. A few bumps though. I had had the chicken soup before and this time is wasn't as good. Steak was a little past medium but still very moist and tasty. Bernaise was perfect. I especially liked the crunch on the outside of the filet. Sides were great. Service was warm and efficient. Creme Brulee was also perfect. We didn't get a wine list and I ordered a glass of Cabernet, but never got to see what kind it was. I don't recall the list for single glasses on the menu. I would recommend this restaurant and I would go back to try some other things. If I ordered the steak again I would ask for med rare.

The food at City Hall was excellent - - from the seafood to various meat dishes. The service was extremely disappointing as the waiter had a very bad attitude when asked about various food choices. The service was poor enough that the entire experience was tainted by his attitude. We will likely go back to give it another shot at better service.

Absolutely wonderful food and service. Really friendly staff. I can't really complain at all as it was a wonderful evening, a great place to celebrate a 40th birthday. The only dissapointing part was how quiet it was on a Saturday evening, I would have liked a place with a buzzing atmosphere that made me think wow this is life in New York. But there were only about 4 other tables in use.

Hands down their seafood is great (go for the chrysler tower!!) so I will touch on cooked dishes: My favorite meals there are the garlic tiger prawns with basmati rice and yellowfin tuna. OpenTable Diner Since 2005VIP

The best thing about this place is the beautiful wide booths and spacious seating. You'll not likely find a place like this in Manhattan. It's so spread out, you can't hear the tables next to you. It's great for groups to hang out and have long coversations. The food and service are above average, so this is the place to go, if getting away from the crowds is what you're after.
