The food is absolutely incredible. This was my third time at the Fig & Olive restaurants (I've also been to the one on Lex) and I will be back many more times. I've also shared my rave reviews of the food with my family/friends/co-workers The only negative part of the experience was that my seat was under the ceiling AC vent, which periodically dripped (on the first floor, right after the entrance on the right). I ended up sitting on the very end of the seat so avoid getting dripped on, which is not the most ideal dining experience.

The ambiance and scene are great, but the waiter was a bit forgetful - we were waiting around for a while before he remembered to refill our wine glasses. Also, the table bread is awful and makes it impossible to enjoy or try any of the olive oils they put out for initial tasting.

I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch on the 2nd floor. It was my first visit and I will return again and again. Service was excellent and I loved the food. I ordered the crostini and my friend ordered the prix fix lunch. I had a special coffee and dessert as well. We lingered because it wasn't too crowded and the music was at the right level. The waitress was friendly and helpful. It was even better than I had expected and I think it will be a great place to bring business clients. Thanks!

  • Fig & Olive is a great place

Fig & Olive is a great place for lunch, especially when an expense account isn't in play...and you need a nice place to treat a friend or colleague who is having a birthday. If an expense account is involved, the wonders never cease. You can have one of their delicious salads or paninis for about $15 and the pre fixe lunch at $17, which includes a scoop of sweet sorbet. The food is very good and the service is too. As an event planner, I know the true value of both. I did miss the assorted breads and olive oils tasting we were offered on our first visit, but everything was perfect. It is a lovely setting and the staff is friendly and alert! Great find. Will be back again and again. I want to try the wines!

  • The new Fig & Olive on 52nd
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 7/1/2008
The new Fig & Olive on 52nd is a great find for lunch in mid-town. The spece is delightful, the food well above the quality of other places in the area and the price is reasonable. Growing pains: the woman at the front seemed to ignore us, did not look or speak to us (I announced I had a reservation) and proceeded to put two menus at the worst table in the house (right underneath the her "podium" and then just turned to look at us as if to say, "well, here is your table". I asked to be seated in the main dining space - very empty, it was 2:00pm. She sighed and led us back there and seated us next to the water station! The rest of the service was slow considering the lunch rush was over. Service needs improvement!

    Bella

Although I have always enjoyed meals at the uptown F&O, 5th Ave. is a disappointment in terms of food. The first time I ate there the food was just OK but the second time was a disaster! My lunch partner and I had the same rotisserie chicken salad. Both were too oily and the chunks of chicken in my friend's salad were under-cooked and my chicken was full of grizzle! We told the waiter who immediately sent a manager who apologized and asked us if we wanted to select other dishes which we did even though our appetites were greatly diminished by the salads! The chef also came out to apologize and offered us dessert on the house. The desserts were mediocre and my cappucino didn't even taste like coffee! Nice people, bad food!

I was very pleased with Fig & Olive. I called earlier that day to tell them about my friends birthday and if they could put a candle in the cake. I wasn't sure if they would remember but when dessert came, they came out with candles & sang which made me very pleased. The food was great and the waiter was very helpful with wine and good selections. The only negative point was that the tables are very close together and it was noisy. But overall I enjoyed Fig & Olive.

Great, light & flavorable dishes! The communal table was great for a large group. Only issue was that I requested a table on the 2nd level. The hostess made the notation, but when I arrived, they did not have the request noted. Also, the 2nd floor is not open on Saturday (which the weekday host should have known)!

Food was fantastic!! From appetizers to entrees the presentation and quality of the food was great. We were celebrating our college graduation and a birthday so expectations may have been higher. We (the group of 6) did not care for sitting by the entry way and didnt really get to experience the restaurant atmosphere until we used the bathroom which was upstairs in the main dining area. The hostess had a huge attitude and the bartender was so pretentious. We are hesitant to go back to this location but would like to try another location and see if the atmosphere would be different.

The food was fabulous and the portion was just right for lunch - satisfying but not so much that there was a strong temptation to hit the snooze button rather than go back to the office and strive for a productive afternoon! Our waiter was attentive and the upstairs dining area was lovely. Looking forward to going back for dinner to see the sconces on the wall lit (which I imagine must be very pretty) and also want to check out the 13th street location which is closer to home.

The food was fabulous, and the setting was beautifully bright and airy. The only issue we had was with the service by a particular waitres (the other servers were great). She thre a hissy-fit in response to something another server said at our table (which sounded innocent to us) and it was obvious to all that she was displeased. It was a shame that she brought such a childish attitude to her work. When you pay these prices, the service should really equal the fantastic service. We also found her to be fake and insincere when she was trying to be nice.

food was quite good but our server was abrupt and tried to rush us - we had a limited time frame for lunch so appreciated that he was cognizant of moving things along, but he took it WAY too far and was virtually pulling our forks out of our hands to clear the table. also, the front entry was not designed to handle a rush, and the check-in system was chaotic, so we were were crammed into a too-small space with too many people and waited quite a long time to be recognized (it took over 5 minutes for them to seat just 2 small parties in front of us).

Our food took way too long to be served for lunch. The server was very apologetic which helped. It was very noisy and hard to have a conversation. Found the same at the one in the Meat Packing district. Although that one had music blasting which made it worse. Both had lovely decor and excellent food.the vegetable salad was memorable. We all felt he same. The noise level would give me pause to return. Don't enjoy screeming over lunch to be heard.

Fig and Olive is my favorite restaurant in NYC, however, this was my first visit to this new location! Needs help! The seafood salad was fishy and I couldn't even eat it. When I told the wait staff, she did NOTHING about it. Arrived on a very hot day, during heatwave, the air conditioning was barely on or not on at all I noticed after entering from the hot street. The service was very disappointing. Slow and the staff reminded me of the sort you'd have at Applebee's or The Cheescake Factory, young, unpolished. The bus boy was rude and intrusive as if he were straight out of the corner diner. My food was tasteless: mashed potatoes no taste, my son's steak had no taste. I wouldn't be shocked if I found out that Fig and Olive is secretly owned by Macdonald's. Too impersonal a dining experience. Would not recommend.
