  • The restaurant was great.

The restaurant was great. The food, our waitress, the view... All of these were amazing. However, when we were waiting to be seated (we were early for our reservation), one of the hosts asked us to step away from the bar because it was a "high traffic area" and they didn't want people standing "two deep". I understand this logic as I've waitressed for many years. However, by telling us to move, all he did was take business away from the bartender and leave us with a feeling that we were "in the way". His comment came off as very rude.

We love George's and come regularly. This time our service was much poorer than normal. Our server forgot about our appetizers. As well, the Skirt Steak which is my favorite San Diego dish was extra fatty and the worst that I have received (I have ordered it at least a half dozen times prior). Also, our creme brulee was much below prior standards. We still love George's and our glad this wasn't our first visit or we would likely not come back.

We enjoyed an Easter lunch at George's Ocean Terrace. Great atmosphere; the view and service were excellent. We had Seared Ahi Tuna, Fish Tacos, and Penne Pasta with Lamb. I normally don't like lamb, but it was very good and tender. With drinks (mimosas) and dessert, our tab was $35 pp.

Seated in the sun at midday at the back of the patio - not enjoyable. Ate as fast as possible. Will not repeat for Easter dining.

Eventhough when I made the reservation and put in it was our 8 yr Anniversary. We did not get a complimentary dessert and no truffles at all. Seating was fare and host was not friendly at all when I asked for a table near balcony and told them that was in the special request for my reservation that was made several weeks ago and it was our 8 yr Anniversary. Otherwise, food was very good.

Excellent dining experience....thank you! First trip to the San Diego area and we were very pleased to find your restuarant. When we are on a holiday, we always ask people living in the area (often when they are sitting at a table next to us) to suggest their favourite restaurant and that's how we found you. We were not in the immediate San Diego area when we asked and they assured us it was worth the drive......and they were right! We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink in the bar and were extremely pleased with our dinner experience on the terrace. In particular, we would like to mention the wait staff person from Brazil, service and conversation were excellent.

  • Our worst experience there

Our worst experience there - we have been there a few times over the past years, but we will not go back. George's needs to re-evaluate their approach at the Ocean Terrace - which has more than a few problems. Most importantly, while one can endure much for outstanding food, in this case the food was formulaic and not well prepared - I had invited guests and was more than a little embarassed by the dishes we sampled.

Referred to George's but thought we would be dining in the elegant dining room. When we arrived apparently our reservation was for the "terrace" which is a very casual noisy dining experience.Food excellent. Service also very good. Would have liked to have tried the dining experience downstairs in what we thought we were reserving. Perhaps more internet detail in the "Ocean Terrace" part of George's should be explained to folks who have no idea what the restaurant looks like and have no idea that it is in fact two restaurants.
