A word from Yankee Pier Lafayette
Yankee Pier, a bustling and vibrant seafood house, offers chef Michael Dunn's ocean-fresh seafood "fresh from coast to coast". Local seafood, sourced in accord with the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program, which promotes sustainable practices that are healthy for ocean wildlife and the environment, is presented with a nod toward New England. Live Maine lobsters, fresh-shucked oysters, an array of grilled fresh fish, and beer-battered full belly clams are some of the offerings, along with local produce, house-made desserts, a selection of all-American wines and a full bar.

Service was excellent for the first half of our dining experience, but then waited quite a while for our server to ask for the bill, then waited again to get our credit charge back to sign. Never saw him again after that. BUT restaurant did get busy by then. Our first visit. Would return and recommend! THanks!

Nice to have another restaurant in Lafayette, and seafood is especially welcome. Food was somewhat bland, we ordered the special fish entrees. Next time we'll order something more complex and see if it is better. Service was excellent.

We have dined here twice in the last few months. We like the food. The service is good but it seemed that the restaurant needs more waiters/waitresses. Our waitress seemed a bit over worked. The only aspect of the restaurant that we do not like is the noise level. You can hardly hear someone talking right at your own table.

We felt that the execution of the fish dishes was lacking in several ways. The flavor and technique were not up to par. Maybe this is a place that should be primarily a fish and chips destination. On the plus side, the oysters were beautifully presented and delicious. Also, we were not crazy about the chowder. Where were the clams?

our table was extremely cramped the night we went - two single tables pushed together to make our 4-top and right in the middle of the back room. every time the wait staff had to get to the tables around us, one of us got bumped into accidentally. it was also a very loud night, which bothered the others in my party. would be nice to be able to request a booth or a section of the restaurant when making an open table reservation. the back is much nosier than the front from my experience there and i would like to be able to ask that i get seated in a certain section next time i come.

This place was doing very well when we arrived at 5:15pm on Friday evening. There is the main front room and a second room in the back. The main room was over crowded, difficult to walk to/from, tables were too close to each other, and they had several tables that were bar stool height - which would be a worrisome challenge for someone short like me. Thank goodness we received a regular table in the back room where it was easier to hear each other and where your neighbor was not at your elbow! Because of being seated in the back room, the experience was very good. Good consistency in the menu/quality of food with the other Yankee Pier locations. Everyone was on their best behavior - service was excellent.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

We rated the service "fair" as when we asked the waitperson what the soup of the day was, she replied that it had been a bean soup the day before so it was probably the same. She didn't offer to find out and made it sound rather unappetizing -- leftover soup, anyone? However, our food was great and the decor is very well done with small details that correspond to the overall nautical theme.

The service was poor - the server didn't let us know that one of our selections was sold out for 10-15 minutes after our order. He brought an opened bottle of wine, saying it was the last of the wine we ordered, and had been opened to pour a glass for us - and we had ordered the bottle. Then the manager came by and produced another bottle! The food was good (not great), the noise was deafening - and this was a Monday night when the place wasn't even full. This was our second, and last trip to this restaurant. We asked the manager to remove the wine from the check, which was not done. They did give us some free deserts.

Like the concept. Reminds me of where I grew up back East, solid seafood. Bar is way to small. This place could have a great bar scene, but with six stools, ain't gonna happen. I know it's part of the design, but the place is just too noisy. The service is also good or at least minimally what you'd expect from a Bradley Ogden signature.

We felt like we were back in Annapolis at one of those waterfront cafes - the ambience was great and the food (the incredible Lobster Roll for one of us and the Tuna Ahi (?) for the other) was beautifully done. Wish I could tell you the name of our waiter, but he was courteous, courtly, and attentive. My mobility-challenged dining companion was accommodate nicely, too. I would definitely go there for a repeat visit!

We went there for Easter. I assumed they would have brunch since Lark Creek does, but they had their regular lunch menu - no Brunch selections. Our entrees were delivered before we finished our salads. Plates were cleared before all of our party were finished with their meals (I prefer plates not be cleared until everyone is finished). Service was attentive, but not well-schooled. Restaurant is new and they need to work out the kinks. Food was OK. Convenient location and attractive appearance.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2004

I don't know why they have a number of high tables which require you to sit at high bar type chairs. For older people, short adults (like I am) or those with disabilities (as I am)it might be difficult to climb up on them and sit comfortably. The service was attentive by all servers and they were unobtrusive if you wished and interactive if you wished. Our server, Shaun, couldn't have been a better model for good service and is a person who is quite knowledgable about the food served. It's not often you find a "casual" restaurant where the food *and* the service is combined so well. The decor was New England delightful. We were sat down immediately instead of having to wait as many places make you do, and it immediately made us adore it.

We enjoyed the restaurant very much. The noise level, however, made conversation with the couple we were with a real strain and effort- and that's after having requested and being given a 'quiet' table. This was on a Tues. night. This was our fourth visit, and the only disappointing one, largely due to the waiter's errors. The waiter did not bring the biscuit we ordered with our mugs of soup. Then, we had only had about a third of the soup when he brought our main courses. My fish and chips proceeded to get soggy and limp and tepid while I finished my soup. He did check in with us and acknowledged his error, but the food really was affected and I did not eat much of it. There was quite a bit left, and he asked if I wanted to take it home ! Annoying. On our three previous visits, things went much more smoothly---which is of course the reason we came back. Ambience is good. Fish is good. Pricey, so they really need to get the service right every time.
