El Ships Inn Restaurant ofrece una de las mejores experiencias gastronómicas de Nantucket. El restaurante se ubica en un histórico edificio que data de 1831 y solía ser la gran mansión de un capitán ballenero, y cuenta con un salón comedor y lounge subterráneos con un ambiente colonial pero moderno. We love dining at Ships Inn. The food is outstanding and ambience is charming. Bob is always welcoming and Melissa makes the evening delightful. Our favorite restaurant on the island!

Ambiance is heightened by quaint, perfectly-sized rooms, with calming colors and fresh flowers. The service is very attentive and yet not intrusive. Friendly and helpful. Actually winsome. Both appetizers were special - pear salad with warm goat cheese and the trout with horseradish sauce; the entrees exceeded expectations, the sirloin au poirve was especially noteworthy; dessert - the shared chocolate soufflé, say no more. My old-fashioned rivaled the best I’ve had. Ships Inn is a very worthy restaurant experience for sure!

This was our top experience on Nantucket! Waiter Mark was perfectly attentive and took great care of us. We started with the poached pear and goat cheese salad - an interesting, light salad with a good balance of textures and flavors. Then we had the special lobster, mushroom and polenta appetizer. It was a big dish with lots of lobster and mushrooms in a creamy brown sauce. Frankly I wish I could have this dish every day! For our main course we had the halibut with rice and pea mash. Again, great flavors, every bite was fantasic. Desserts were soufflés with crème anglais, chocolate and watermelon. A total home run! The wine list was interesting and we found a very nice bottle of Meursault. The atmosphere was intimate but not too crowded. Although certainly not inexpensive it was a good value for what we got. We will definitely return next year!

My review is for the restaurant last Saturday night. My husband loved the lobster bisque. My scallops were so overcooked, rubbery and almost inedible. No one ever asked how our appetizers were. Entrees were good. Husband had the swordfish and I had the halibut, very good. No one asked us how it was or if we needed anything. Dessert, we shared the chocolate souffle, amazing. We do recommend this restaurant but it needs some improvement. We noticed the man walking around talking to all the tables (Bob I think?), totally ignored us. Also, it was very hot and stuffy even though it was 65 degrees outside and windy. Very glad we didn't come here earlier in the week when it was almost 90 degrees.

Be sure to have dinner here and make sure you pre order the souffle if it’s on the menu. The ambience and service also top notch!!
