Service was very good. Food was very good.....ambience was also nice...... But there was nothing "special" about it. I don't feel the need to come back. Many of my friends love it here and again I had no complaints but I have no interest in coming again.

We enjoyed the nice day and the various seating options. The food was good except for one of our group. She had a pastrami sandwich in which the meat was too thick and the bread so thick and heavily toasted that it was very difficult to eat. They have an excellent wine list and a creative menu.

Overall - the food was great, but not exactly knock your socks off. There was one exception - the brussels sprouts side were the best I've ever had. They were roasted in such a way that the sprouts outer leaves opened - and from being roasted were crispy though not burned. When you bit into the sprouts that were cooked to perfection all the way through - they crunched. just a bit. Delightful! We had to wait a bit longer than we wanted to place our order, but the waitstaff were attentive and made us feel very comfortable. It is in a strip mall that shares a parking lot with a supermarket, which makes the coming and going a bit to be desired - but all in all it was a great experience.

I have been going to this restaurant for about three years. I always thought it was one of the best ones in the town (and it probably still is). I went there a few nights ago for dinner. There seems to have been little change to the menu in all the time we have been going there. This wouldn't be so bad, but there appears to have been some element of cost-saving involved, with the result that quality isn't what it used to be. My last visit was dominated by the all-pervading smell of the brussels sprouts the people on the next table had ordered. The food wasn't as hot as it should have been. And the petrale sole was positively tiny. Nevertheless, service was as good as ever and it is still a nice place to go at any time of the day.

One thing I very much appreciate is the SERVICE this restaurant provides. Everyone I encountered understands what hospitality is. All of the service staff smiled at me and made eye contact throughout my 90 minute lunch experience. As I was waiting for my lunch guest in the lobby, I was offered a glass of water. The waitress was able to answer all of my questions about the menu and made appropriate recommendations. The service timing was impeccable. The manager thanked me when I left the establishment. The food was also very good and was a reasonable value. I had the shrimp salad and my friend had the hot pastrami sandwich. Both were very fresh and tasty. A great place for lunch, drinks or dinner if you're in Lafayette.

A table for two is rare opportunity in our house on a Friday night, so when the situation arose we checked Metro. Earliest reservation was 8:00, so booked it and went 30 minutes early. Got seated immediately (even though it was crowded), wait staff arrived quickly with bread and water, and took drink orders. Ordered Yellowtail, which I never see in the Lamorinda area, and it was delicious; prepared perfectly with a wonderfully chili sauce.

It was satisfying to find Metro uses organic produce and grass-fed beef. However, for the prices, the food preparation/cooking was just satisfactory, there was nothing exceptional about either the New York steak, or my wife's Duck Confit, merely pleasant. The wait service, Chris, however, was splendid, and made the evening fun and dramatic. Additionally, a $29 bottle of Peachy Canyon Pinot Noir was a fabulous wine, at a good value; and when combined with the ambiance of Parisian settings, and tromp L'oeil mural of the Eiffel Tower, all ended well. Had a lovely and tasty dinner at Metro last night with some friends. Overall, the food was really good. Service was a bit slow, and the dining room was not packed but we were not in any type of rush and it worked out fine. Have had some lovely lunches there as well. We ordered the crispy brussel sprouts (super good and fried!). And the gnocchi with sage butter sauce was excellent. Beet salad was also good. Beware, that dining for two - the table are somewhat close together and we had couples on both sides of us lean over to comment on our conversation. We have a good sense of humor, but was a tad bit awkward.

One of the waitstaff recommended this sandwich to me. He says it is the best item on the menu. I ignored his advice the last time because I craved a good pastrami sandwich. Well, my desires were not met since the Metro version which is fine does not rise to my memories of East Coast deli food. This time I order the chicken. Great sandwich!

Service was great until he got swamped due to the holiday schedule... and shortened hours of operation... But not his fault, as there was no other waiter for the entire dining room..

We are frequent customers to Metro and always enjoy our meals. It's got a nice and accessible menu, nothing to esoteric. The cocktails are fine, especially the Metro Mary and Organic Green. You can make a meal of a couple of the small plates if you don't wan't to choose a main. The patio is great, weather permitting, and inside its spacious yet cozy. Really nice, down to earth staff, and a very pleasant dining experience.

Had an good reference for this, so I was expecting a nice meal. The room was too cold, even the waiter agreed with this. For 1 $16, I expected a nice crab salad; alas it was quite small, with 2 very tiny slivers of avocado and equally small grapefruit sections. Avocados are in season and plentiful, so why be so miserly? Ditto grapefruit--especially when it is mentioned in the description of the dish. . Service was very good, so this is a reflection on the kitchen..I won't be going back

When we first arrived the hostess could not find our reservation. Then they realized they had seated someone else under our reservation. We were seated right after that, but no one came for about 15 minutes. We were then approached by a waiter who told us they were almost done with the chef's meeting. A waitress came to take our drink order a few minutes later. When we asked about specials she said she didn't think there were any and that she had just arrived (then why were we told everyone was in a chef's meeting?). Slow service and the restaurant was not crowded when we got there. Food was just ok.

Five of us on a very busy holiday lunchtime. Everyone can get what they like...wonderful salads, hot entrees and great desserts. We love the profiteroles especially the one brought out for my Granddaughter at the end of the meal with a candle. Bistro atmosphere with very good food and selection. Sometimes service can lag but the wait staff is always friendly and doing their best. And the outdoor area is the best spot in town when the sun is shining. Heaters make it work on cooler days. Definitely one of our family's favorites.

We are Metro fans for years now, but the other night was a disaster. Because of an anniversary celebration we asked to be seated in the corner by the fireplace. Turns out, the entire room was filled with huge parties and the noise level was too high to be able to enjoy any conversation at all. It literally ruined the evening. It was so stressful we just wanted to get out of there. All of our food was good with two exceptions. The steak was the worse piece of meat ever. Tough, obviously poor quality. Crab cakes were different than before, not as flat and tasty.

The initial impression was not so good. We arrived a little early, sat at the bar and then was ignored- except for a couple of waiters bringing us water and a menu. We let them know that we would like to order drinks and were waiting for our table, but the drinks took a very long time to arrive- and at that point the noise level was just annoying. However, we did get the drinks and they were very good. Once we were seated at our table, we enjoyed ourselves very much. Brian, our waiter, was great! Very attentive, funny and help make our night fun. Food, we had the prefix- I had the lamb, my friend the turkey- was fantastic, desert was delicious too. Looking forward to going back for a brunch.

We periodically try other places, but this is the one we keep coming back to. Friendly staff, great service, great food. The bar area gets a bit noisy on weekend evenings, but that's part of the vibe and I wouldn't have it any other way. In good weather, the courtyard seating is the choice; in winter, try to get near the fireplace. Menu changes depending on season and availability, my favorite (when it's available) is moules / frittes, but I've never had anything that was less than excellent.

The service was good and the location worked great for us. Unfortunately, the food was a very big disappointment. We ordered four small plates: Green beans, crab cakes, meatballs, duck spring rolls. Only the meatballs were edible, the rest were completely unseasoned and bland. All the tables for two are aligned right next to each other, which kind of felt like the set up used in a Red Robin restaurant. Not an environment to have an intimate conversation or romantic date. We won't be returning.

Made reservations for my Daughter's Birthday. We were seated in a very uncomfortable and cold room which looked like a sun porch. After being seated, we asked to be seated elsewhere, but were told there was no room. As we came in, we noticed the main dining room was crowded, so we understood this. The acoustics were very bad and it was noisy. There were children running outside to the patio area, causing us to be cold when they kept opening the doors to get out and in. We were having fun, laughing and talking and the woman at the next table kept staring at us. When my Daughter asked if there was a problem, she told my Daughter that we were being too loud! The food was good, but the prices very high. We will not return.

The waitstaff did their job, but not very efficiently and mostly they seemed to be aloof rather than engaging. It was not a personal dining experience. It is quite loud in the restaurant. I thought the food was good. I had the pear salad, and split the duck confit rolls and crab cakes with my friend. I got the feeling that this might be a place where the waitstaff pools the tips and splits them as there were multiple people servicing our table for different things. When this system is in place, there seems to be loss of incentive to go out of ones way to give excellent personalized service. It's too bad because the place is busy and the food is good . . . it would really step a notch with better service.

My husband and I love this place and have relied on it for a very good dinner during the time that it's been here. Noise can be an issue if you're at the wrong table and want a quiet conversation, but there aren't many negative things to say about this place. Salads always fresh and lightly dressed...nice variety of appetizers and small plates. Swordfish entree with green olives and risotto was very good (but not the best entree I've had there). Great wine list - try the Albarino. Almost rate all categories "outstanding", but there are a lot of really top restaurants around these days...but Metro is REALLY VERYY GOOD!!

Foods Okay, Cutomer Service: Waiter Andrew made us wait a long time to take our order. Heather another waitress was very observant and kind enough to place our order for us. The bus boy keep on coming to our table to take our plate. Our appetizer came after our main dish. At the end the bar manager Jaime was great. He recognized our frustrations. Overall I would not come back to this place and absolutely would not recommend this place at all.
