A word from Deseo at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa
Showcasing imaginative Nuevo Latin cuisine, deseo’s (deseo is Spanish for “desire”) menu features a distinctive and skillfully blended combination of flavors to create delicious dishes that are bold and intriguing. This style of cooking takes traditional Latin American dishes and reinvents them using European and American cooking techniques and often non-traditional ingredients. The perfect start to dinner at deseo is to “descansar” or “relax” with a freshly created cocktail at the adjacent Muddle Bar, which specializes in blending fresh fruits (mango, pineapple, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and more) with fresh herbs (basil, tarragon, mint and more) along with your favorite spirit for the perfect pre-dinner cocktail.

I had a wonderful dining experience at the Westin. Our server's name was Chad and he was more than helpful. His knoweledge of the menu and food preperation was remarkable, I was so impressed. Not only was he knowledable, he was very charming. He made my dining experience quite enjoyable.Everything from the restaurant's appearence to the food's, was beautiful. I especially loved the Shrimp Chicharron. It was the best i've ever had. I loved everything about my dining experience at Deseo. It was marvelous and i would reccomend it to anyone and everyone i see! I cannot wait to go back and share this wonderful experience with another friend of mine.

We had a wonderful experience at Deseo. It was my birthday, and the Manager and Server bent over backwards to see that it was a memorable experience. The food was outstanding and service was impeccable. This is the restaurant I choose any time I have an occasion to celebrate (or just want a great meal.) I highly recommend Deseo to anyone who wants a really wonderful dining experience, with a taste for full flavored South American cuisine.

Superior cuisine and service. A rare find for a resort restaurant. Outdoor dining overlooking the golf course works well during April and May before Arizona gecomes too warm.

The food was excellent, but the coffee was lukewarm (even the fresh cups brought at our request), my wife got decaf when she ordered regular, the sommmelier and bartender were condescending (the bartender was downright rude), and even though we asked for dessert menus the waiter never returned to take our order, and we left without having any. We will ikely return because we like being able to walk the grounds after dinner, but the details need some work!!

The food is outstanding. However, the waiter and and the roving managers were aloof and did a poor job. We constantly waited a prolonged time between courses> we had trouble flagging down anyone to help us after we were done with the main course> our waiter and managers ignored us and we had to visibly wave to get the attention of some help to clear our dishes> at that point we were not interested in dessert> though the food is great< there are many our equal choices in the valley with a lot better service> and therefore it will be a while before we go back> It was especially disappointing because we were celebrating a 1 year wedding anniversary for a wedding held at the Westin Kierland Hotel with food catered by Deseo.

The food was fantastic. We had the salmon, sea bass and the crab fried rice. All were outstanding and uniquely prepared. Our server was very nice and knowledgable, but she could of used additional support. She had more tables than she could handle efficiently which resulted in our good rating on service. The manager/sommelier refilled our wine once, but that was the only help she received. The open kitchen was a cool feature, but the dining room and patio lacked substance. We were seated on the patio, but decided to move in because there was no music and the landscaping/decor were lacking interest. The dining room chairs were uncomfortable for an upscale restaurant. If the service and ambiance were as good as the food we would be regulars.

We really enjoyed our meal. Particular highlights were the mojitos, fois gras appetizer, the duck entre and the amazing dessert sampler. The wait staff was very helpful in making selections and keeping this business dinner humming along. The wine list was well selected. The only minor suggestion is the hamache ceviche was too singularly spicy. Not very nuanced flavoring. Overall, the experience was great!

The food and the ambiance were excellent. The service is also good but a bit on the slow side. This is our second time dining here. It was memorable the previous time because of the wait. We still had to wait this time. If the food wasn't good, we would not be returning. This is not a place to go if you are starving coming out there - it will be a while before you see any food.

Deseo's had no specials the night we were there which seemed odd since most places like to bring in something fresh to mix it up. The server suggested we try the crab and shrimp ceviche with pineapple juice and we did. The crab was great but overall the dish was ok with no major flavor. I had the scallops and that was the best part of the evening. I would return if I was staying at the resort.

Nice concept. Unlike other diners, I was not offered an amuse-bouche by the ceviche chef. Sitting at the counter was fun, especially for a single diner. Food was good quality, but except for the special of the night, nothing out of the ordinary.

One of my favorites in the entire valley! Always looking for restaurants that are consistently good and this in one of five I can name in AZ! Cevice is fantastic- you don't even have to be a fish fan and you will love it, trust me. Menu is varied enough for all palates without compromising on prepeartion or presentation. If you haven't been you must go!
