A word from Da Vinci
Da Vinci Ristorante is renowned and highly recognized in Boston's stylish restaurant scene, bringing wonderful flavor and ambiance to the South End/Back Bay area since 2007.

The sophisticated interior is warm and welcoming and the staff extends that feeling to each and every patron. The recently redesigned and modernized space features a comfortable full service bar.

Chef Peppino's menu reflects a blend of modern and classic Italian cuisine from his training in Europe's Italian restaurants. It features an array of beautifully presented Antipasti and Entrees, and the chef's homemade pastas are made fresh every day as is the bread and all desserts.

Great emphasis is also placed on accommodating guests with dietary, gluten free, vegetarian and vegan restrictions to ensure that each and every guest has an unforgettable experience from start to finish.

The last time I enjoyed a pasta with a bolognese sauce this good was in Bologna. An amazing achievement, and true to the form of the original, when so many American restaurants that serve Italian food get lost along the way, or serve a pale imitation. This kind of care goes into all the dishes I was served. The very European habit of the chef of making the rounds of the tables to inquire about the experience during the evening was also much appreciated. One could easily forget that the restaurant is in the South End, and mistake it for northern Italy.

The food varied from excellent to good..that is why I have it a "good" rating on the food. Lack of music in the background was a definite minus. Appetizers could have used a better selection of salads..choice was way too limited. Seasonal fresh vegetables should have been a part of dishes..were lacking on at least 2 plates.. Desert choices far too limited and lacked creativity. Sound control for noise was a serious problem. Need to add acoustic controls (panels, wall coverings etc). No sommelier? ..the waiter was helpful.

I was very impressed by DaVinci. The staff went out of their way to make the evening a success. It was my birthday and the chef came out to talk to us and brought a platter of mini-versions of their desserts with happy birthday written in the middle. The food was excellent. The only negative was the noise. The restaurant is very loud. Otherwise, though, the evening was fabulous from beginning to end.

The food and ambiance were excellent. The space is far more attractive than the photos on the website, which give it a sterile feel. The restaurant is a bit loud, but the acoustics (at our table at least) were such that we could all hear each other fairly easily despite quite a bit of ambient noise. All in all, a great dinner.

Good time. Wait staff was far too quick to get the empty (and not quite empty) plates off the table. I don't like to be asked "are you still workin" by wait staff -- inappropriate as I eat slowly and for pleasure -- so it's a night of relaxation -- Also, too many different people ask, how's the food? the duck? The magret was perfect and rare, the confit was left under the broiler too long to crisp the skin, and crisped part of the flesh. Wine was great, as was the wine list -- I'll be back -- this place will do well between Park Sq and South End, although everything has to be just right or it will go the way of Grill Fish -- so it's going to take hard work to make the locattion work -- a few extras, well trained staff.

The overlal space is very nice, but it is way too loud to hold anything resembling a dinner conversation. We were a table of 6 and felt like we all ate alone it was so loud. They need to incpororate some fabric to absorb the sounds. Food was good. Service was good overall. Some details like placing on the left and clearing from the right were not followed, or my big pet peave. deliving new items before the gues has been reset with silverware, etc.. Not as reasonably priced as presented. The pasta portions are miniscule for the price ($18)-average. We were told we could have a larger portion for an increased price but never told what that was. Why can't restaurant servers tell you the cost of things not on the menu, such as their specials. So many times the specials are much more expensive than menu items and it's uncomfortable to ask.

Great environment, great service, but I was honestly taken aback by the limited menu and the modest portions. Kind of a new wave gourmet type restaurant, the chef went to great lengths to prepare unique dishes with creative presentations, introduced himself at the end of the meal which was nice and personal, but that was somewhat at odds with what I like when I go to an Italian restaurant. I guess I was seeking more traditional Italian/American fare, there was nothing traditional about the menu choices. For those with a more refined palate, daring approach to dining, and expectation of ingesting fewer calories, this might well be the next great thing. But we left with more of an empty feeling than anything else.

Our waitress seemed nervous and weeded. We had a horrible table, which really shouldn't be there. It is wedged between a wall and the only path the waitstaff can take in/out of the kitchen AND in/out of the bar. It was like a constant parade by our table. However, the chef came out to introduce himself which was really nice. Overall, the food and the drinks were good, but the table location and the service weren't so great.

On my 1st experience at Da Vinci's, we walked over to our table where there was 1 chair for 2 people, which was rectified quickly. After being seated, no one came to greet us, give us water for approx. 15 min. A staff person who was pouring water at the nearby tables looked at the two of us, noticed we had no water, and kept walking. I got up and asked the hostess if we could have a server. After a few min, the waitress came over, apologized for the delay. She got the water and took our wine order. It took approx. another 10 min to receive the wine. Another waitress came over and opened our wine, and took our order about 25-30 min. after being seated. Other ancillary staff were nice. Nothing was done to make the experience better.

Made a note on open table that this dinner was to celebrate my wife's birthday - it would have been nice if they had recognized that. Also, our table was quite cramped up against a column - There were other couples of two at larger tables since it was a Monday night and not very busy. My dinner plate was taken away without asking me - I would have finished my last few bites had the waiter asked.

Although the evening started a bit rough (server forgot to ask for our drink order until we finally reminded her) it progressed well once the meal service began. Appetizers were delicious, bread was fresh and herby rich, fresh pasta trio was perfectly cooked with outstanding flavor (although not especially novel or inventive for $18) entres were equally delicious, perfectly seasoned duck and a pork milanese that subtly enhanced the mild pork flavor and was neither dry nor greasy. Place looks fantastic and the downtown crowd that packed the restaurant was equally stylish.

The food was superb and the service very attentive yet unabtrusive. Our dinner was on the Monday night after Easter, so the restaurant was quite empty. My guess is that on most nights, the noise rating of "Quiet" would not be applicable, as tables were quite closely spaced. It might also not be fair to judge the attentiveness of the service due to the light volume.
