Was expecting a better ambience. We were placed in a room with a family with children (well behaved!) , but it was just my husband and myself. We ordered a bottle of wine and it was too warm. They brought us another bottle and that was very warm as well. They then decided to chill the wine for us and blamed the temperature on being in the south!! We are wine drinkers, not a cheap bottle! That was our disappointment. My food was good and husbands just fair.

The food here is quite memorable. I had the roast duck and it was very, very good. My husband had the pork chop and macaroni cheese which sounds like a dish for the child's menu. However, this was a very grown up version. The pork chop and its peach preserve sauce was outstanding. The fried macaroni cheese with white cheddar sauce is was a deliciously, crispy twist to an old favorite.

I pleased that the restaurant could accommodate our last minute dining request. Upon booking I called to request seating on the patio and the hostess greeted me with a friendly confirmation. The outdoor setup was cozy and romantic. I did not like that I could literally reach out and touch the person at the table next to me as my sweetie and I would have enjoyed a bit more privacy. The hostess and waiter we had (Zach) were both very friendly. Zach answered our menu questions and made a few suggestions for us. The food was very good and I liked that the wine pairings were listed on the menu. I highly recommend the pecan pie if you have dessert.

This is a terrific place on Queen Street, just east of King. You could live on their appetizers alone, if you had to. My wife's chilled lobster tail was pricey, but absolutely delicious -- and more substantial than we expected. I had a cup of the she crab soup, which was the best I've ever had (I'm glad I only ordered a cup; a bowl would have been too much). My wife's southern chicken was cooked to perfection. My pan seared salmon was outstanding…and a sizable portion. We had more than enough food, but the fried mac & cheese sounded so good, we ordered two and took it back to our lodging, where we re-heated it the next morning for breakfast (we were NOT disappointed!).

My wife and I (23 years old) found this place and went for our 1 year wedding anniversary. We absolutely loved 82 Queen! We started with their crab cakes for an appetizer and I must brag at how much lump crab meat were in them! They were absolutely delicious! I got their special for the night (a fried catfish dish with cheese grits and some succotash) and my wife got the pork chop with collard greens and fried mac and cheese. The food was definitely top notch, portioned well (on the big size) and well worth the price. Our service was top notch: friendly and quick but not intrusive. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. We sat outside in 85-90 degree weather at 18:30 and were comfortable!

It's too bad that the food doesn't match the ambiance. We had a glass of wine in the bar before dinner. The selection by the glass was short and poor. The pinot noir was "pretty bad" and the chardonnay just OK. The appetizers were better than the entrees. The Clams Rockerfeller special were lost in the filling. The Crispy Oysters were good but not as spicy as one would expect from the sriracha listed in the menu. The entree crab cakes were tasty but not lump crab. The biggest disappointment was the chef's special jambalaya. One expects the daily special to be well executed. The house-made sausage tasted mostly of salt, never found a crawfish in the bowl, the shrimp were good, sauce OK. If more expensive, it would have gone back.

This was my first time to 82 Queen and I will not return. I had the salad special and it was awful. For my entree I ordered the Southern Chicken which is on the menu. The chicken was so dry I couldn't eat it. Needless to say I will not return.

This was the third time I'd been to 82 Queen over the last 5-6 years. Apparently my memory is failing because I'd recalled it as being very good, if not excellent, restaurant. At best, it was good--and undistinguished when measured against alternatives in the immediate vicinity. Signature Manhattan cocktail was best thing I ate/drank there. Next time I'm in C'ston, I'll spend my dining dollars elsewhere--there are SO many great restaurants at a comparable price point, 82 Queen doesn't rate for my family. Three days later we dined at Husk, just three doors down, and 82 Queen paled in comparison.

I brought my 17 yr old daughter and her friend here for dinner. I wanted them to experience some of the special Charleston things that I had experienced growing up and living here. Fine dining in Charleston is a given. I've always loved 82 Queen so I brought them here instead of anywhere else. My daughter asked about High Cotton but really, isn't that just a tourist attraction? Y'all totally delivered! Our food and service were impeccable. I already recommend you to my friends here in DC who are vacationing in SC. Our current experience will just add to that.

Took my beautiful wife here for our last night in the city. Made reservations for the patio under an enormous magnolia tree and multiple gazebos and arbors. The ambiance was amazing and the service was great. We stayed through dusk, but you could tell it was romantically lit with bistro lights and candles for a great late-night spot as well. Definitely worth a planned dinner with the one you love.

We went on a very warm night and had to sit outside because all of the inside tables were taken. We had walked over and were not too eager to sit outside but it turned out to be very comfortable with fans all over. This was not our first visit and the food was as good as in previous visits although my husband was not thrilled with the sides that were offered. However they were willing to substitute so everyone was happy!

This restaurant has declined in the past few years. Witnessed people without reservations being seated prior to those with reservations. Had to wait for a table even with a reservation. Hostess didn't have any charm and appeared miserable. Food was not hot and average. Not the quality of the past. Would not recommend and will not return.

I dislike giving a review that is conflicted. There were positives but the main negative was the food, which is the biggest reason one dines out. 82 Queen was very charming and the service was spot on. The food sounded promising in it's simplicity but was not seasoned thoroughly throughout all courses.

The outdoor patio is very pretty and perfect for a romantic night. The service was great even though they wee very busy. The food however was just ok. The bistro steak was fatty and for $33 I would not have expected. The shrimp and grits were ok. The sweet BBQ sauce on shrimp didn't go well with savory grits. I would go back for he ambience but would try different menu selections.

I was seeing good reviews and sounded like my kind of place. My table location was not the best , i had reservations, and service was OK. My real issue was my dish, seared salmon was bland. It was cooked right but had no flavor. The spinach was good, even though it had peanuts instead of almonds like menu said. The everything goat cheese was good as well and paired well with the spinach. My wife's truffle cauliflower steak was really good. The dish doesn't actually have steak in it, so they should consider rewording menu.

Sitting on the patio is a must, you feel like you are at a garden party with great food. The landscaping gives a sense of privacy. Went for brunch, BF had the "ultimate bloody mary" which he said was one of the best hes had. He ordered bbq shrimp and grits, I ordered the breakfast wrap. He said his food was amazing. Mine had good flavor just a bad concept.. the wrap had eggs, bacon, andouille sausage and fried green tomatoes. The tomatoes were soggy from being in the wrap and the combo of fried, sausage, bacon made it heavy/greasy.. hangover cure for sure. I dumped everything out of the wrap and picked thru it, too heavy/greasy for me. The cheese grits were amazing.. and I dont even care for grits. They are a must order (and the crab cake!)
