I've had a rough month, my birthday feel right in the middle and went unnoticed due to the declining health and loss of a loved one. So as excited as I was to receive one of my only birthday gifts (a free dinner from Bistro Romano). I knew I probably would not use it. When I got up on the 31st, I knew that I couldn't let my coupon expire, I needed a break. So I sent my husband an invite and we drove over the bridge and it was just what we needed. We knew we loved the atmosphere and the food, but we had forgotten how much. We had a wonderful dinner and our waitress was great. We even saved room for dessert. The tiramisu was delicious and the complimentary crostini was a treat. Looking for an excuse go back soon.

This was our second time at Bistro Romano and we would definately go there again. We live in the suburbs, so when we went make the effort to go to Philadelphia for dining, we like to eat somewhere that feels special. The candlelite and white table cloths make Bistro Romano feel special. The tables are far enough apart that you don't hear everyone's conversation. We are of retirement age, but we went with a couple in their twenties and they thought it was great. The table side preparation of ceasar salad is still fun to watch and you know that your salad is freshly made. Another plus. The entree portions were good. The two men ate everything on their plates. The two women had some of their pasta left over, which was nice to take home.

My husband & I have been going to Bistro Romano for many years. We first discovered them in our Entertainment book & tried it for his birthday one year with a group of six other friends. Everyone loved it! Since then we have taken at least six other couples there on different occasions, we have eaten there almost every month lately ourselves and spent New Year's Eve there up in the Mystery Dinner Theater with another couple. We have also been to the Dinner Theater before too. I especially love the bitro salad, the veal rosini is a favorite of mine and my husband likes the breast of duck and the Minastroni soup. It is one of our favorite restaurants! Just had one of the canolli and it was one of the best! Sandie & Steve Musselman

We all enjoyed our meal (as usual), but I was extremely dissapointed with the seating arrangements. We were tightly fitted between the hostess desk and the bar. We were also in the main entry to the bar area with people constantly walking passed us. Next time I will be sure to request a table downstairs.

We ordered the table side caesar salad. I though it was very good, my wife thought there was too much romano cheese. It is a very large portion of salad. I ordered the Chicken Romano which is a heart healthy menu item. It was good, if you are trying to watch what you eat. I ordered the vegetables as my side item. The roasted potatos were ridiculously good. My wife ordered the crab raviolis. They were some of the best I have ever tasted. The pasta was perfect and the sauce it was so creamy and delicious. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is very nice. We felt like it was much more quaint and nicer than most Italian restaurants in the city. One complaint I would have is the bread. I would rather have eaten Bertucci's dinner rolls.

Food was absolutely incredible. Had the veal florentine and the ceasar salad and calamari were all very good. Waitress was a little flat with no personality but she was the only one like that. All of the other waiters/waitresses seemed very good. Definately a must for a romantic night out and is very reasonably priced.

Monday special entrees were very mediocre compared to our previous experience at the restaurant. We were wondering if the specials received less care in preparation because they were half-priced. There was a sigificant difference in quality and taste for the same dish (pescatore) that we ordered previously. We were disappointed, given that it was my birtday, but enjoyed the ambiance. We would still recommend this sopt to our friends.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2006

We were very disappointed in this restaurant after reading many positive reviews. We put in our comments that it was our anniversary and we don't get out much due to a newborn. This fact went unnoticed until the very end of the meal by our server. Our appetizer of stuffed mushrooms was lukewarm and the tops were burnt. The sausage they were stuffed with was hardly edible. My lobster ravioli had no flavor and the sauce it was presented with was broth like in consistency. I will say the caesar salad was very good. I would recommend diners go elsewhere-there are much better options for italian in Philly. I could have made a much better meal at home.

Her attentiveness and concern was very much appreciated. We will definitely be back. Also, it is great that the restaurant is in the Entertainment Book. It allows us to come back without feeling as much of a budget constraint.

Pasta night is great value for the money. The pasta was good, very generous and exactly as ordered with a good side salad. It is worth the upgrade to order the made-at-tableside caesar. The wine list is good and represents all categories well. You need a reservation for the specialty nights as they fill up fast.

Honestly a 7 star restaurant!!! The entire dining experience, from the tasteful food to the pleasant service was fantastic! We had the buff moz and mussels for appetizers and they were very good. As for entrees, we had the veal saltimbucca and it was the best I've ever tasted. I judge Italian restuarants by how well they prepare my favorite dish and this is by far the best I've had in Philly..hands down...succulent dish! This place is great for a romantic date night or big get-together with friends. I give it an A+
