Great for al fresco dining. Very kid friendly considering how good the food is. The kitchen staff is very accomodating about customizing your order. Dessert and salads were superb. Waitstaff very friendly - elegant but not stuffy at all.

  • We went to the California
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

We went to the California Bistro for Father's Day Brunch. In addition to the great varieties of food (omelet bar, cold sea food, warmed specialties, oysters and the desserts!) they had some special things for Father's Day. Outside there were kegs of local beer, free cigars for the Dads and someone hand rolling cigars, and a barbeque of New York Steak. The Father in our group was very happy, as were the other diners.

The Sunday brunch at California Bistro offers a wide range of beautifully prepared food. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is elegant and yet relaxed. I especially appreciate the chef's efforts to accomodate gluten-free diners.

  • A little on the pricey side,

A little on the pricey side, but if you can work up a good appetite; the quality of the food in this brunch is among the best. Champagne is included in the price along with juice or other beverages. Thanks to the price, the champagne is mid-range and quite nice. The prepared foods, sushi and raw bar were excellent. My only area of complaint, and minor at that were the cheeses. The aged gouda and white cheddar were so-so. Of the desserts, the German chocolate cake and peanut butter cookies were delicious. Table service was quite good and very friendly staff.

I have been dining at this particular Four Seasons for about 10 years now and have never had a bad meal. The quality of the food is on the upper end of the scale. I am a foodie and a member of the Wine Club. As always the food was excellent. You will have to spend some money but it is worth it.

This is a great place if you LOVE lobster, crab, or shrimp....although it would be nice to be able to have the crab heated. The sushi and sashimi is good as are the salads and desserts. I have to admit some of the desserts look better then they taste which can be disappointing. We all recommend the prime rib which tastes like it was smoked...very savory and juicy! The clam chowder is also a must try.

As hotel dining rooms go, this one is top shelf. Breakfast, lunch and dinner served. Alas, the family vacation crowd means you may have rowdy children running about and making more noise than one might prefer and there's no room dedicated to the kid crowd. Limited wine menu and their pricing strategy would make Wall Street blush. But the food is quite good and consistently so, and the wait staff is both skilled and personable.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007VIP
    Dined on 2/15/2009
THE BRUNCH AT THE AVIARRA IS THE SECOND BEST BRUNCH IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, BEHIND THE ST. REGIS. THE BEST DISHES ARE THE SEAFOOD DELICACIES (SHRIMP, CRAB LEGS, AHI). THE CREME BRULEE WAS TERRIFIC. OUR SERVER WAS MAGNIFICENT. THE ROOM, WHICH OVERLOOKS THE GOLF COURSE, HAS A COUNTRY FEEL TO IT. AT $58 IT IS REASONABLE CONSIDERING YOU'RE AT THE FOUR SEASONS AND THE FOOD IS TOP NOTCH.

  • We have been to the California
    OpenTable Diner Since 2004
    Dined on 7/19/2008
We have been to the California Bistro for a number of years. Recently however, there have been more misses than hits. My steak was not hot (barely warm), it was more "done" than the medium-well I ordered. The lobster was undercooked. The restaurant claimed that it was fine. My wife has professionally prepared seafood in the Asian style and is a keenly aware of what under- or overcooked means. One part of the lobster was still obviously translucent, i.e., undercooked. The food took an inordinate amount of time to get to the table. Granted, the staff was accommodating, very cordial, and apologetic and they recommended some good substitutes but we were still disappointed overall and are seriously considering not returnin

Celebrated my wife's 50th birthday. It was an amazing experience. Everything was top notch, from the French Champainge, to the amazing appetizers, to the desserts - just fantastic. Beautiful presentation, knowlegeable and attentive staff, just a great evening. After dinner we moved to the serene, beautiful fireside room and listened to the talented singer in the lounge. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
