A word from Cowboy Ciao
Ask a local where to find unique food & wines in a fun, unpretentious setting and there's a good chance Cowboy Ciao will be near the top of the list. And why not? Bold flavors, a massive wine list, whimsical decor and friendly, personalized service are a few of the reasons to love this small, independent hot spot. Try the legendary Stetson Chopped Salad or Exotic Mushroom Pan Fry with a Bay To Breakers, your favorite syrah, or a bargain bottle of malbec from South America. Save room for pastry chef Country Velador's memorable desserts! Lunch & dinner daily, Sunday Brunch dishes. A Valley favorite since 1997, this Modern American eatery has two siblings literally next door -- FnB (seasonal, local, often organic & sustainable, all-Arizona wine list); Kazimierz World Wine Bar (wines galore, global grazing, live entertainment every night of the week).

What a fun restaurant! An unusual combination of casual western and chic bistro. The food was outstanding, with interesting combinations of ingredients.

Hi, I decided to order the mushroom special and the waitress recommended getting the appetizer size, which, with a salad, was perfect for dinner. I appreciated that very much.

Cowboy Ciao has an unusual menu - but the food is very tasty and although the restaurant is a bit noisy, we had a very nice dinner.

Chairs could have been a little more comfortable. Our waitress was extremely pleasant and attentive (I think her name was Dell?)...she made the night memorable. The hostess at the front desk was a bit pretentious and a little too into herself for my liking but the manager sat us and he was great...charming and very friendly. We enjoyed our meals and appetizers immensely.

It seems that the menu had been reduced in scope a bit since our last visit, but it was still interesting and very well prepared. The chief attraction of Cowboy Ciao has always been its wine list, which is possibly the largest (136 pages) and certainly one of the most interesting I've ever encountered (on our last visit I found a very enjoyable red from Algeria, of all places, from pre-phylloxera French vines).

Still my favorite place in town, but this night we were seated in a cramped corner table and the entrees were only "ok". (Sad because I was entertaining a client.) I will chalk it up to an "off" night.

Wasn't terribly impressed, it was okay but certainly didn't live up to the hipe I had heard. Portions were huge, not my style, menus was fairly limited, certainly in comparison to the wine list. Interestingly enough wine list is huge, but they didn't have either of the first two bottles we selected which made pouring thru the wine list somewhat tiring.

We loved this restaurant! The food was terrific. My son loved his steak and rated this as one of his best meals this past vacation. We all loved (and especially my daughter) the salad. They even gave us the recipe. I will definitely be making this one at home!Hats off to the owners and chef of Cowboy Ciao. We will visit agian once we return to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

The food is always wonderful. But I especially love how knowledgeable the staff is about their food. And I love that they have an opinion about the menu. I have been guided to things I wouldn't normally have ordered and have been delighted.
