The resturaunt had rented the place out for a big party so it was very loud. The wine we ordered was out of stock, they replaced it with a different bottle that wasn't French (we ordered French) but it was at the same price. The problem was, the wine wasn't very good, I can't imagine it was worth what we had to pay for it. The filet was really quite good, so was the salad and dessert, so great food, amazing view, too loud, and bad wine.

I was looking for a romantic spot for a special night with my girlfriend. CITE met my expectation 110%. A quiet place with a magnificent scenic view, exceptional service, great food and the best view for fireworks show from Navy Pier (this was not in my plan for the romantic night but the surprise went in the perfect moment). Thank you, CITE!

the enitre evening was great, except for the wait staff constantly looking at my wife's large chest, no this is not a joke. it made me very uncomfortable. and being a waitor in the past, i am not dumb and have done the same thing, but out of respect, i didnt go around telling other waiters to come look. will i return to city yes, but i will have to make sure my wife is dressed better so the staff doesnt drool too much. i really should write the chicago tribune about this.

    Dined on 5/17/2008
We showed up and got the worst seet in the house (in the way back next to the entrance for the kitched). So then I said we will wait at the bar for another table to open up. Luckily, out of the 6 seats at the bar, 2 were open. The bar has a great view if you turn around. We then got a table about 30 minutes later with a much better view. the food portions are extremely small and petit. The food is great, but not worth the price. You pay for the "experience." The food and drinks take a loooong time to get to you. You have to be very patient. I will never be going back.

  • Mother's Day brunch was OK
    paulcVIP
    Dined on 5/11/2008
Mother's Day brunch was OK at best. It is a great restaurant for romantic scenic dinners for two in Chicago. The food was unremarkable, but it wasn't bad either. It's on the 70th floor of Lake Point Tower (Oprah lives there, and I doubt that she is the only billionaire who lives there) and the price was appropriately high. I'm sure that as a dinner for two at sunset on a bright sunny day in Chicago, it would be a lot better. I will probably go back for that. But not too soon. I have a mortgage to pay too. This place isn't for the faint of wallet.

Service was not good considering it was Mother's Day. Seemed to be having problems in both the kitchen and on the floor. We were at the first seating and half the food wasn't out yet on the buffet and the hot food that was out was cold even though it was over chafing dishes. They seemed to act like this was their first brunch ever and I think they actually serve brunch every Sunday.

Be ready to leave with less money, but have enjoyed spending it. The views and service were lovely. If I couldl make one suggestion to this restaurant, it is this: uphold a dress code. My husband and I went to Cite for our wedding anniversary. He was in a suit and I was in a cocktail dress. While we were dining, there were two different parties of people that were inappropriately dressed for the restaurant - one girl with a ripped denim miniskirt and one woman with an athletic jersey, jeans and sneakers. It cheapens the experience to dine with people who do not respect the restaurant.

Was a very nice place to dine and enjoy the views of the city. The staff was very accomidating and friendly. I did get engaged at the restraunt and the staff was congradulatory. Would recommend to others as a place that really stands out from your normal dinning experience. Would of appreciated a congratulation drink or desert from the restraunt even though this will not keep us from a return. Thank you

The staff would not leave us alone. we were trying to have a nice slow and romantic dinner, and they pounced on us. We were done eating the main course within an hour of us being there (and I'm a slow eater!). We were only able to stretch out the evening because we told Melvin (our waitor) we'd wiat a while before we had deseret. Not to mention that he doesn't know how to pour wine.... By the end of the night, it looked like I was dripping blood on the table because of mess he had made.... The food was descent, presentaiton was wonderful, actual taste left something to be desired. You're really paying for the view witch is amazing.

The service is lacking (it took a long time for the waiter to bring our drinks after he took our order by calling out to us from behind the bar near our table and he overcharged us on the bill for drinks). Also, when I made the reservation, I noted that it was my husband's 40th birthday, but no one mentioned it during our dining experience. We were just another table. However, one table over (where the diners were not dressed in jackets as the restaurant requires), the diners were getting (loud) special treatment from the chef, who they apparently knew. The salmon appetizer was very mediocre. For as beautiful of a restaurant (and as expensive as it is), the staff could put more effort into making it a special dining experience for everyone

I brought my girlfriend to cite for her birthday, and the view was absolutely spectacular. However the ambiance was quickly over shadowed by sub par service. I made reservations well in advance and I felt that I was deliberately seated in arguable the worst seat in the resteraunt( right by the entrance to the kitchen). Then it was probable 10-15 minutes before our waiter even came by our table to introduce his self to us. When he finally got to our table he seemed in a hurry but the resteraunt wasnt even a little busy. He recomended the filet oscar for me and and the new york strip for my girlfriend and it was average at best. Maybe steak isnt cite's thing. Over all I felt like the $250+ that I spent their wasnt worth it.

Cite's is definitely the best on ambiance. It is located on the 70th floor in Chicago's Lake Point Tower. Looking out at the skyline through the floor to ceiling windows, is breath taking. The food is outstanding! The music is outstanding. The service is superior. If you are looking to impress anyone, this is the place to go. I wasn't so happy about the valet parking. A bit too pricey, but I guess $25 is the going rate, even if you do eat at the restaurant. By the time you get through tipping the doorman, the valet, etc., etc. You think you've paid for another meal. If you can avoid valet, do so. I will return! However, I'll probably cab it!
