  • I really wanted to like this

I really wanted to like this place as fine dinging experience in Orlando. But what the kitchen turned out was a complete mess of flavors that never worked together. The tuna on the tuna pizzetta was flavorless and the presentation was lack luster. The rice served with the veal was way over salted. And there was no point to the chorizo served table side, which was the driest chorizo I have ever had. The menu uses "cute" terms that make it almost incomprehensible. And the "chocolate three ways" dessert was one of the most uninteresting desserts I have had. At no time did anyone in the restaurant ever ask, or wonder, why so much of the food left on the plate was going back to the kitchen. Not worth the money at all.

I took three valued clients to dinner at Norman's during a national conference in Orlando. Norman's surpassed all of my expectations for quality, imaginative and creative cooking. The food was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Our waiter. Paul, was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list (one of the best restaurant wine lists I've ever seen). The setting was beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed a window table overlooking the golf course at sunset. You could not have asked for a finer dining experience. Needless to say, my clients were very impressed with my good taste in selecting Norman's. I'm looking forward to returning the next time business or pleasure brings me to Orlando.

As a former patron of the South Downtown Orlando favorite, "Doc's", noticing the atmosphere, Norman's service team, and great food was just the beginning of the evening. The bar/lounge area is romantic and tucked away from the resort-type atmosphere. Bartender, I'll please have a scotch - something different and oakey, please! (And a glass of red wine for the missus, of course!) A laid-back atmosphere at the bar was great - but it was a sophisticated, relaxed atmosphere as well. The best part: the food. Absolutely, hands-down, a great surprise. Very original flavors all fighting for representation in your palette - delightful! Foodies: come here. Enjoy.

Food, ambience and service were superb. A very eclectic menu made allowed for fun "mixing and matching". The only downside was that the restaurant was not crowded at the time, yet we were sat needlessly in between other tables with young families. Needlessly distracting. Overall, however, we will definitely return.

Very overrated. Food was average at best but was priced at exceptional pricing. Service was extremely slow and unattentive. We waited far too long for tapas and soups. Tables were too close together. They did do a good job at recognizing a special occasion. Unfortunately, we will not be celebrating again here.

An exceptionally creative menu that can best be described as "Floribbean". Exquisitely prepared and displayed. Attentive staff, too. Our group of four experienced "fine diners" thought it was one of our best dinners ever. We will certainly return when next at the Grande Lakes Resort.

Upon sitting, took ten minutes to be greeted and over thirty to get our first bottle of wine. Food was satisfactory. Pass on dessert. Servers did not have a good understanding of menu nor wine list. Make sure you ask for your vehicle to be pulled up at least thirty minutes prior to leaving. Overall, I was dissatisfied with my dining experience.

The whole experience from valet parking to returning to the car was spectacular! Once seated at the table we were greeted immediately. Questions were answered with authority. We wanted to try lots of things so we split many items. This was accomplished with ease from appetizers to the dessert. Each dish was a mixture of tastes and textures that excited the palate. I can't wait to return!

An absolutely terrific experience. Wonderful selection of "small plate first courses" and larger plate second courses. A selective offering of beef, local seafood and pork. Each entree features specialty house made sauces which make the meal. Black Grouper perfectly cooked and dressed with a mildly sharp, chunky putanesca style sauce. Grilled pork tenderloin, perfectly cooked rare, with house molle and slightly smokey mild habenero sauces. Wine list is very good, with number of good values. Server was well versed in the menu as well as wine pairings. A DON'T MISS when you are in Orlando.

After reading reviews on the internet, we were very excited to try the cuisine. We were not disappointed at all. The service was extremely attentive and helpful in designing our culinary experience. The opening tapas helped wake up our palates with bold, spice filled flavors. The yucca filled shrimp were perfectly cooked and were well complemented by the citrus mojo. We may have been too ambitious early on as the main courses were gigantic. The beef was cooked exactly as we requested. To top off the evening, we thoroughly enjoyed the ice creams. The blend of spices and flavors was completely unexpected, but fit together amazingly. We will definitely return when back in the area.

We have been searching for fine dining in Orlando for some time and Normans was rated as just that. We did not find this to be the case, the food was ok, certainly not fine dining. Don't expect Norman to be there, you just pay for the name. Would not go back, not for the prices that they charge. The only good thing was the bar manager, and the waiter, their service was excellent. We were really disappointed and left a lot of money behind for average food.

We had high expectations for Normans restaurant. When we arrived on Wednesday at 8:45 PM there was no one to seat us for several minutes and there were maybe 3 tables with patrons. It was not a good sign but economic times were down. The service started out well with a complimentary champaign toast provided by the restaurant. There were three courses including an appetizer, soup, and main course. I two signature dishes the "Havana" pork and conch soup. Both were a bit sweet for my taste which may have drowned out some of the potential skills of the chef. I asked for a wine pairing which turned out to be acceptable but could have been more complimentary. A major faux pas however is to pour a different wine into the same wine glass.

In town for a conference stayed at JW Marriott next door. Wanted to treat my girlfriend to a great night out, she lives in Orlando and this is one of her all time favorite places. Food was fantastic, only low point was the key lime pie, which could have been tarter for my taste. Foie gras was bliss, so was the beet salad. I had the Pork Havana, she had the grouper. Wonderful wine and helpful Sommelier. Wait staff were great too.

I was very impressed with the food quality and the presentation. We were not rushed with the food being brought out so they can get someone else at the table. The service was excellent and above par. The servings were not too big nor too small so it was just enough for us. We went to the bar first to get a drink before dinner and I wanted a scotch on the rocks and told the bartender I wanted something different. He asked me a few questions and then came up with an excellent choice. Definately worth the trip.

Being my first time here, I was a little bit hesitent to coordinate a meeting here with some high-level executives. However once we arrrived, my worries were quickly set aside. The service and food was excellent! For a party of 8, we had more than several staffers waiting on us at any given moment. Usually in a restaurant which serves such fine cuisine as this, the portion are very small. However, we found them to be more than adequate, leaving you not overly stuffed, and not searching for snacks once you leave. Well done Normans! I will be back..
