A word from Guardado's
Guardado's serves up authentic, flavorful dishes from Spain and Latin America, in a casual and inviting atmosphere, in the heart of Bethesda, Maryland. We now offer Brunch on Sundays

Chef Nicolas Guardado and his wife Reyna opened Guardado's Restaurant in 2007. Guardado brought with him a wealth of experience, rising through the ranks at local-area tapas restaurant Jaleo to a seasoned head chef.

Now, he is infusing that knowledge into his own restaurant, as well as adding some popular Latin American entrees and some traditional dishes from his native Salvadorean background to Guardado's extensive menu.

Tasted several of thir tapas, they were good and the portions generous enough that four could share. The service was attentive, the price very reasonable. A good alternative for a light supper with friends.

Their pan-Latin menu offers a lot of very good choices. I think it is a little overpriced, especially on the wine side. $8.50 per glass for a small poour seems excessive.

Guardado's paella was incredible. It does not look like much from the outside, but on the inside the food is incredible and the sangria and mojitos are delicious. It is family-run and has a wonderful neighborhood gem atmosphere. I will definitely come back with more family and friends. Even if you don't live in Bethesda, it's worth the drive.

We loved the restaurant. We ordered a selection of tapas for lunch. The food was delicious, with a nice presentation. The sangria was excellent. Good selection of hot and cold tapas. Would like to try the paella next. Similar to Jaleo's menu, but much lower key and more casual atmosphere. Unlike Jaleo, Guardado's menu has a Latin flair (e.g., lomo saltado, fajitas and pupusas), as well as Spanish selections. Highly recommend this restaurant.

The best paella I've had in the US! The rice was absolutely perfect, with the generous use of saffron. The flavors of the fresh seafood melded into a wonderfully hearty dish.

We had a paella marinara, all of the seashell food was undercooked. The martinis were flat, and will not recommend unless the bartender is replaced. The young waiter was inexperience and it showed, however he did try to improve along the way. Having read who the owner was we expected the main course to be outstanding, however we were dissapointed.

This was my first visit -- to celebrate a joint birthday with a friend. We loved it. The food was delicious and the service gracious. It was a really nice change of pace from Jaelo's -- not so trendy, a bit more comfortable. And quiet enough to have a great conversation. Can't wait to go back! Might have had something to do with the oversized Margaritas. (smile) Seriously, it was a real treat for both of us.

My wife and I eat here more often than we eat at any restaurant in the area. It's a real treat. I keep trying to convince my wife to try the paella, but we always end up sticking with the tapas. I'm getting hungry thinking about it - mussels, shrimp sauteed in garlic, freshly fried potatoes, sauteed sardines. Very tasty. And try the house margaritas as well. Best margaritas I've had in the DC area. The place already has a few regular customers and I hope they'll pick up more as time goes on.
