  • If you want to dine on slices

If you want to dine on slices of black truffle while you sip a glass of Château d'Yquem, then Tocqueville is the right place for you. We had a very early dinner, mainly because opentable.com only showed a reservation availability at 5:30 pm on that day. We were a little surprised when the dining room didn't start filling up until well after 7 pm. The truffled parmesan grits with country egg turned out to be a very generous appetizer with an equally generous serving of black truffle slices. Well worth its price! The Maple Crest Chicken was cooked to perfection on the inside, but slightly charred on the outside. Tocqueville's chef seems to have a general tendency towards the salty side, but all in all Tocqueville is well worth a visit!

The service was impeccable. The food was divine. We were one of the first to sit for lunch on our visit and the chef was kind enough to prepare a complimentary appetizer and dessert. I had the prix fixe lunch and my spouse had the lasagna. The borchetta dessert wine (sp?) was a perfect compliment to the delightful desserts! The decor of the restaurant makes it great for a lunch date and a romantic dinner. I would only bring well-behaved children here if at all.

Although Tocqueville is very expensive, I believe the food was certainly worth it. I had a quiet business meeting with three of my co-workers and we all agreed that it was one of the best meals that we have had. The menu, food and presentation was excellent and I look forward to returning. This is a small romantic restaurant that is perfect for special occasions.

Being highly recommended from a close friend, Tocqueville, did not disappoint what so ever! Everything was absolutely excellent. It is by far one of the best dining experiences ive had in all of NYC. Mr. Marco Moreira, with whom we had the opportunity to briefly speak with, has done an outstanding job in every aspect on his restaurant. ive definitely become a big fan and cant wait to go back!

  • I fell in love with Tocqueville

I fell in love with Tocqueville when I first visited their former location just off Union Square West. I had a most wonderful pre fixe lunch. I was disappointed when they moved but found the new location just as chic and comfortable as the original. These are perhaps two of the most beautiful and comfortable dining rooms in the city. Although I've mostly enjoyed every dining experience there, it has been less consistent for me. Many dishes have knocked my socks off while others disappointed or puzzled me. Once taken there for a birthday by friends for the multi course dinner with wines. It was good but some of my lunches there had been far better. Desserts are almost always amazing to look at and utterly delicious. Service is A+
