Decent brunch. I prefer it for lunch or dinner. The portions change variable here. My friends huevo rancheros were a large good portion. I got eggs and bacon and the portion was a bit small. I even had to ask for extra toast and home fries are extra which is a bit odd. Some things here are very good and some just ok. The room upstairs is a nice setting

  • Good - But not great

While everything was reasonably well preparted, nothing was particularly interesting. The mac in the mac and cheese was nice and dente, but the cheese sauce was decidedly dull. The chicken in the quesadilla was nicely grilled and juicy but the dish on the whole was fairly salty (perhaps from brining the chicken). If you don't cook and your tastes aren't that ambitious, the place is hip, the presentation is good and the service is pleasant. If you seek adventure when you eat out, I'd spin the spinner again.

dropped off a card and bouquet of roses to be place on the table before I let the manager know when I got there earlier that it was my Boyfriend and I 2nd year anniversary and she said that it would all be taken care of. Heather put us right next to the windows over looking Newbury Street with views of the Prudential Center Tower. This was a great spot. The Server came over greeted us with two Glasses Complimentary Prosecco a nice gesture by management they knew it was a special occasion. I really think they out did themselves with customer service and making sure we had a great dinning experience. I got the Steak, cooked medium, and he got the chicken Mac and cheese. They were both great. This is one of our new favorite spots downtown.

I went here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night, it was very crowded but the atmosphere was nice enough that it didn't ruin the mood. The service wasn't perfect but like I said, it was really busy, service is usually bad anywhere on Newbury street Saturday night because it gets so busy, but Cafeteria was really pretty good. and the food was AMAZING. He got a burger, I tried it and it might have been the best burger ever, i got the scallops and they were absolutely incredible. I will most definitely be going back again!

I will start by saying the food was terrrific with a wide selection of uniquely prepared comfort foods. The wait staff was excellent as well. Unfortunately we visited on a cool evening following torrential rains which limited their dining area to a walkdown basement bar/dining area. Normally this would have been fine, but the musty, damp odor was a bit overwhelming following the heavy rains and street flooding. We will return during sunny, dry weather and look forward to their outside dining area

I phoned Cafeteria to tell them we would be late due to disruptions on the T-line, & asked that they keep the table. I was told they would give my table away if I was later than 15 mins. I sent my husband to rush to the restaurant while I waited for a friend. My husband arrived ~17 mins after our initial reservation, he then waited around for someone to help him for ~5 mins. When he was finally helped, the maitre d was very rude, & told him that we were "VERY late!". He tried to explained the situation, but she argued back that we were later than 15 mins, & they had given our table away. Frustrated by her bad attitude, my husband turned to the manager, who was thankfully very helpful. Our waitress was also lovely & the food was very good.

Nice atmosphere, prompt and friendly service. We all had salads, which were fresh and tasty (scallops went well with the beet salad, cobb had lots of protein): all good except that the squash on my daughter's apple salad was more or less uncooked. If you want bread, you have to request it. Dessert choice is limited, but the affogato is delicious. Their timeout cocktail is good but not great - the sauvignon blanc drowns the St Germain. Three of us ate well for under $100.

I am a student in the area and I took my parents to Cafeteria Boston while they were visiting. We all enjoyed our food very much and the service was excellent as well. The one drawback is that it was very noisy which made it hard for my parents to hear. Overal I would recommend cafeteria boston to younger people or to families as it was a very friendly environment.

I've been for lunch and dinner and the food has been consistently great! The BLT was delicious but a little spicier than I expected. Tomato soup and grilled cheese were also excellent. The spinach artichoke dip is purred instead of the usual "chunky" style but really, really good! The outdoor patio is also a great watch for people watching!

I've heard many different people talking about Cafeteria so I figured I should give it a shot. My friend and I arrived, sat for 5 minutes, and realized that nothing was jumping out at us. The food options seemed like things you would find in an actual cafeteria and the atmosphere was subpar. Not sure what all the talk is about, but I definitely was not impressed.

Our overall score would have been higher except for the attitude of the waiter who found my request that my sandwich be served without bread, just the interior ingredients, confusing and suggested I simply order a salad instead. Not wanting all the greens, etc I ordered my sandwich "as is" and discarded the bread! I found him rigid and uncompromising. I haven't seen that attitude since the Atkins craze began 10 years ago!

Our server was awful. My friend was literally in the middle of taking a bite when the server came by and yanked the plate out from under her, saying "you're finished right?". I had to actually stop him and ask my friend, "are you sure you're done?" She just finished the fry that was in her hand and was coerced to have the rest of her sandwich and fries packed away. I don't know what the heck happened at Cafeteria on Friday but it was awful. I even asked to speak with the manager and he handled it just as poorly! Never did I receive an apology from him, just a stunned look. I will never go back there again. The food being good does not make up for the fact that the service was terrible.

All young people who were very personable and took time to chat with us a little. Very enjoyable experience overall. Would definitely go back!!!!

I had the pleasure of visiting Cafeteria for the 3rd time this past Sunday. For nourishment, I masticated the re-fried black bean burger. To my pleasure, it was not the usual veggie burger (weird processed soy product) but actual black beans and other delectable spices. The parmesan fries were also a nice touch. My dining partner enjoyed her food as well and I do anticipate coming again. Our server was very nice and respectful. I wish I remembered her name.
