The service was poor - very slow, our orders forgotten numerous times. The sun was blinding customers and the staff made it sound as though they've never had a sunny day before, so they had no idea of how to fix the problem.

food is standard american dinner fare - steaks, seafood, pasta etc. It's good, well prepared food, but nothing super inventive or different. Great for families, it was easy for our family of picky eaters to all find something on the menu. The view were great as well.

We love your brunch and we're quite the regulars. We'd love to see some fresh spinach as an option for the omelet station and prefer the plain shrimp instead of the chili sauce grilled version. Also fresh berries would be a nice touch as well. Thanks! We love it there.

Our server was excellent! Each of the wait staff acknowledged and greeted us on our special evening and even the dessert said "happy anniversary". The ambience of the restaurant was good; however, the guests at the nearby table were very noisy and we could hear their entire conversation. And we experienced the joy of those in the bar watching sports. Would have loved it if the restaurant was quieter as we celebrated our anniversary. We did not, however, allow those distractions to interfere with our enjoyable evening. And as we were leaving, a staff member wished us happy anniversary! Very classy!!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

I have been to Calcutta Grill multiple times and it seems that they have difficulty with managing the restaurant. About 6 months ago, we thought they were heading in the right direction but at our last dinner, it had gone downhill. First, there were four of us for dinner and every item that we were going to eat had recently been taken off of the menu (Prime Rib Dip, Spicy Penne, and Chicken Saltem Boca). Also, at 7:15, they had already run out of the spinach and artichoke dip. The service was also not up to par. It took awhile before anyone took our drink order and then we had to ask for the bread and spreads. The service seemed very slow. I was very disappointed in the restaurant.

  • This was hands down the worst
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006
    Dined on 5/11/2008
This was hands down the worst $170.00 dining experience of my life. We thought we were taking our wives/mothers to a nice brunch at Calcutta Grill. Not the case! We were ushered into the giant ballroom with hundreds of other guests to enjoy the buffet, which was sub-par and then finding ourselves chasing down the waitress (which we were mandated to tip 20%) to give us drinks. SHe failed miserably at this and so we decided to help ourselves to the pitchers of water and coffee. We love Newcastle, but this will be our last trip back for food, golf or otherwise. Open Table might want to think twice about partnering with Newcastle/Calcutta Grill in the future! Jack Breeden 425.466.0250

Our waitress was the best one I have ever had. I took my Grandmother here for Mother's Day and she asked for a special menu item when the restaurant was only serving a buffet. The waitress not only made the special request to the kitchen, but also made sure, throughout our brunch, that we had everything we needed (i.e., filled coffee, enough plates and silverware). This was a very memorable experience for a special day. Thank you.

I thought that our table had a perfect setting....A couple of the food items were a bit tasteless....the prime rib dip lacked flavor (the horseradish dip was lacking some punch and the beef and au jus didn't have enough salt), along w/the fettucine w/chicken and goat cheese lacked flavor also...The Arnold Palmer's also were a bit watery, (something to do w/the Tahitian-blend tea????) according to some of the guests at our table. And one would think that they'd have a knock-out Anold Palmer since it's a golf course :) On the other hand, the desserts were delicioso! We had the smores chocolate dessert along w/the apple cobbler.

I wouldn't normally even order scallops at a restaurant, but these were fantastic ... and I loved the apple-cider/butter sauce. If I were looking to complain (I'm not), a few more veggies on that pile of tiny-chopped potatoes (which were wonderful too). My husband's Chicken Saltimbocca was excellent as well. The beautifully scripted "Happy Birthday" on his desert plate was also a nice touch. Our service was absolutely impeccable!!!

Food is mediocre on a regular basis. No tempting or unique dishes, unless you count meatloaf ;P View is a 10 on a nice or, well any day really where you can sit outside. Cocktails are a disappointment. Staff is unfortunately equally mediocre and service is honestly not memorable. Only draw seems to be golf (if u play) and the view, otherwise don't set your sights or palate high as you'll be let down. FYI Sandwiches are HUGE and BACON seems to be served with almost everything at lunch.

As for Sunday brunch, I cannot complain. It is just wonderful. If someone has out of towners and visitors, the Sunday brunch is not to be missed...and great view of Seattle.

The Asian Noodle Salad was very bland and tasteless. The wrong beverages were delivered to our table. My husband asked for a second glass of wine, which the waitress forgot about. He had to ask for it again. Service was extremely slow. I get the feeling you shouldn't come to Calcutta for lunch on a Sunday unless you want the brunch. People who order off the menu are pretty much low priority. There was no bread available (we've been there before on a Sunday and had bread). We ordered desserts only to be told the chef hadn't had the opportunity to make them yet (S'Mores). The coffee was lukewarm. I'm sorry I can't come up with nicer comments about our last experience. We''ve been there a few times before and each time was very nice

We have been there often for weekend and Thanksgiving brunch, also lunch when we golf. The food is usually very good. This Easter Sunday, the only reservation we can get was at 2:30pm which is fine. We had salads, fruit and sushifirst which was very good. By the time we get to the carving tables, the trays that keep the hot food were cold. I touched the containers which usually is too hot to touch but I think it was unplugged. It was only about 3-3:15pm, not late enough for them to close. My daughter got some mac and cheese with chicken nuggets and we had to ask the wait staff to microwave it.

For the last couple of years my husband and I have been going to Easter Brunch at the Salish Lodge. This year we thought it would be fun to try a new place. My overall experience at the Newcastle Golf Course was sad. We spent over 300.00 to be seated in an open and loud area. Needless to say this is was not the way I invisioned spending my Easter. Both my husband and I (and our guests) were disappointed.

    Dined on 3/23/2008
The brunch buffet was good but not great. Although it was Easter Brunch, it was horribly overpriced. $42.95 per person, which is ~$10.00 more than the regular price and no one noticed if there were any extras were included. The selection was quite a bit less than other brunch buffets in the area (Salty's, Ivar's). Although the food quality might be slighly better it was only marginally so. It was very cloudy/rainy, so the view could not be appreciated. Extremely disappointed considering the price we paid, would not go back here for brunch.
