A word from The Four Seasons Restaurant – The Pool Room
"One bite is enough to make you moan"
- The New York Times

Beloved by locals and a must-see destination for anyone who enjoys celebrity sightings, the Four Seasons is the restaurant New York Magazine named the "city's greatest dining room."

Whether you're lunching poolside and enjoying the restaurant's deal-of-the-decade $59 prix fixe or looking for a delicious dinner destination that the New York Times raved "virtually defines American cooking," the Four Seasons offers something for every wallet.

An only-in-Manhattan icon that Zagat 2013 called "a calm oasis in throbbing Manhattan," the Four Seasons serves New American dishes, inspired by local fishermen and farmers.

although the food was excellent the service was mediocre... a fact for which this restaurant has a reputation. Given how "pricey" this restaurant is I think that this is intolerable. I have eaten in many 3 star restuarants over the year and the service was always better than this. I think that even though the food was fine I will probably not return for a 2nd meal. I am not a power broker in NYC but I see no reason for poor service...my dollars are the same as anyone else

I was expected a better food and atmosphere since i heard a great rumor about the restaurant, however it wasn't that great. It was just ok. People who used to go to the steak house as like Sparks on 45st st now realized that there's a better decorated one here. That's the main guest in here. I was expected more fashion oriented people. This is not a very hip place unfortunately. Top notch restaurant should serve something better.

I was disappointed with our drink orders and our first waiter. Four out of our six person group were served the wrong drinks. The bar did not even have my requested drink, pamagranete martini!!!! I chose this restaurant for our special night for our group and I'm sorry to say that I would never go back!

The only problem was that the waiter did not bring the wine list until AFTER our appetizers arrived, despite requests for it earlier. This seems like a big mistake for this caliber restaurant, although it would have been forgivable at another. It definitely took away from the experience.

The food and service are excellent. The average age of clients is 70. Very old crowd. Decoration is very nice but I feel a bit out of date---it is like gymnasium which you see a lot of old, classic hotels' dining. Cafe Boulud is my favorite. You can go to Four Seasons once a year which is really enough. Cafe Boulud--which is very classy ---can be used every month.

We enjoyed the Four Seasons tremendously, especially the cotton candy dessert surprise with a candy tooth and ice cream underneath! The soup was excellent as well as the duck. Our server was amiable as well as timely in his ministrations. We went to an early dinner, so it was quiet, which we appreciated. Although we were dressed very casually, we were treated with respect and not put off by the staff.

We had a memorable lunch with special friends at the Four Seasons. Everyone did everything right! Open Table made the reservation step easy and adjusted a date without effort. The restaurant clearly had read my comments on the open table form and greeted us knowing we were celebrating a birthday. Our greeting was warm and we were seated right next to one of the pools which we loved. The food and drinks were superb. It was clearly a step above in every way. We loved all our choices. The food and wine service was exceptional. When dessert was served it was so much fun! The pink cotton candy surrounding the ice cream was a hoot! Best of all the birthday girl loved it! We will return and give great reviews for the Four Seasons! Thanks

I did not enjoy my experience at all. We were seated on the mezzaine in the Pool Room when there were penty of tables in the main area. The waiter was patronizing and was difficult to understand through his accent. The food was overpriced and very mediocre. As an example, I had the short ribs which were a vague brown slab of unattractive meat that had almost no flavor; in fact, it looked like soupe meat. I have been to the Four Seasons many times before but not in several years. I will not go again. The evening was spoiled inasmuch as I had brough an out-of-town guest who I wanted to impress. She was not impressed. I think the Four Seasons "day" has come and gone and I can only assume it now caters to tourists you do not know better.

The restaurant did not live up to my expectations. The food was very very good but I've had better, the service was fine but maybe too "theatrical" and the atmosphere was lacking that special thing I expected to find. In total, it would not be my first recommendation to friends visiting the city.

Overall it was disappointing. I though the bartenders were obnoxious. And get this...they ran out of Cabernet by the glass. I would think a restaurant of this caliber would have a list with multiple selections by the glass. The atmosphere is a little tired...very 80's. They are in need of an overhaul. The food was just good. At their prices (which I don't mind paying) I expect exceptional. I won't be going back any time soon.

Dinner in the Pool Room at the Four Seasons is always a treat and the highlight of a trip to New York City. We spent more than three hours savoring every bite of the delicious food and every bit of the elegant atmosphere, making it an evening of culinary theatre. The highlight on this visit was the considerate and warm service. Anyone who thinks that elegance implies stuffiness will be disabused of that notion by the consistently professional and friendly staff. We will be back again next year. A trip to Manhattan wouldn't be complete without a trip to the Four Seasons.

We went to the 4 Seasons in April 08 and quite frankly I'd booked it on its reputation.Theres no question its a beautiful room, one that was worthy of JFKs 45th birthday party apparently, however you just got the impression that they were going through the motions. The food was competent without being spectacular and the service just a trifle superior, that said I don't regret going and the setting made for a memorable meal, the bill was equally memorable!
