A word from Bocca
On June 25th, 2007, Alessandro Peluso together with his friends and family, opened the doors of Bocca with a celebration and an evening of food and wine. This Roman restaurant has been bustling with patrons ever since. Our Chef James Corona is excited to offer a roster of creative Roman dishes to New Yorkers. Chef James uses only imported Italian DOP (protected designation of origin) products and is a proud supporter of the Union Square Green Market. Our meals are complimented by an extensive wine list, an elegant and cozy yet casual dining environment, and a friendly and courteous wait staff.

The food was very good. The Prix Fixe menu consisted of some very nice choices, including a veal appetizer, and a Filet Mignon that was delicious. The one dish that I was most intrigued by was a pasta dish that was tossed in a big round of cheese right at the table (not sure of its name). I was, however, displeased w/the service. The busboys were inexperienced, at one point, even hovering over our table as we finished our apps. They made me feel uneasy, as if we were being rushed, even though the dishes did not come out quickly. We also had a bit of an awkward situation with the waitress. While we were getting ready to leave, she confronted my dining partner and I about the tip we left. Ndlss to say, it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Really liked Bocca; was a very pleasant surprise. Food was high quality / high value, service was great and very friendly, the ambiance was perfect, and they take reservations. I couldn't ask for anything more. I almost never eat at the same restaurant twice in NYC, but I'll definitely be back.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

Food was good, but service was rushed and food came too fast. The restaurant was only 1/4 full on a Wednesday night, so I didn't understand why the appetizers came before the drinks. My friend and I planned to have cocktails, then wine with our meal, but we didn't have time to order wine because the food came so fast, we were only starting our drinks when we got the main courses. They'd make more money per check if they didn't rush people.

Having grown up on Momma's Italian food, I'm always somewhat reluctant to go to Italian restaurant's. The food just doesn't taste right to me. Not a problem at Bocca. The Roman cuisine is almost completely different than Mom's Napolitan fare and excellent. Try the veal meatballs and their signature pasta "cacio pepe" - fantastic. Pretty good, reasonably priced wine list too. Everyone is friendly and attentive. Not a big place but still can accomodate groups. All in all, and for the price, Bocca is a top notch in my book. I can and have reccommended Bocca to many satisfied diners already.

We were at Bocca with two other couples. We enjoyed the food and wine. Try the spaghetti with cheese and black pepper. They literally stir it up in a block of cheese! The only strange thing was the bill. Because we were a party of 6, there was a 20% tip added to the bill. We had the waiter split evenly among three credit cards. But when we totalled each credit card, the total was more than the overall bill. They had us waiting around for 30 minutes as they tried to figure out what the problem was. They came back and said, "Just go ahead and sign. We will clear this up when we total out the night." We hand-wrote the expected totals. Note - I don't think they had bad intentions. I am pointing this out so you check your math!

We usually go early and the restaurant is never very full. I do believe it gets more crowded later in the evening - I hope it does, because it is terrific and I want it to succeed. The staff is lovely and the chef really makes you feel like his is entertaining a special guest. All special requests are considered. And the price is more than reasonable for the quality.

They were playing music that you would think belonged in a Mexican restaurant -- did not for the atmosphere of the place, I would suggest changing the music selection in the future. The main courses were VERY good. I was not at all impressed with the meat/chesse appetizer though. The cheese was good but there wasn't much there...the meat was just not good. Smaller, thicker slices (and more of them) is preferable to the deli slices of meat that the restaurant provided. For the price, I would pass on this next time The waiter brought out the wrong side item with our meal (we ate it anyway, and it was good), but made up for the mistakeb buying us a round of drinks, which was a very nice gesture.

Excellent and unusual Italian food, very distinctive from others in the neighborhood. Food prices for the neighborhood and the quality are quite reasonable; bar prices are on the higher side. Waiter was excellent but we dined early; he was the only one on the floor on a Tuesday and I imagine at a later hour the service would have been delayed. Would definately go again, and would recommend the restaurant to co-workers for either lunch or dinner.

Another wonderful dining experience. The ambience was warm and serene. The appetizer selections were varied and mouthwatering. We had the selection of Roman style mixed fried artichoke, squash blossoms and rice ball. They were delicately fried and delicious. The Bronzino and Monkfish entrees were delicious. The Nutella tart was just enough sweet with the berry compote to satisfy at the end of the meal. Service was prompt, helpful and amiable. The waiter was knowledgable about the wine list as well as the food. Our liesurely eaten meal made for maximum enjoyment.

This was the best experience we've had in a very long time. My fiance and I eat out a lot, and we've both been in the restaurant business for over 10 years. The food was perfect, service was great, wine was delicious, and we left happy. We had the beet salad special and the fritti romano to start(I've always wanted to try fried squash blossoms--DELICIOUS.) For our main courses we had the cacio e pepe pasta and the appetizer veal meatballs--which were the best meatballs I've ever tasted. We had wine by the glass, red wine that started with a "s" and it was absolutly perfect(great recommendation from our server.) The sabayonne was superb, and the espresso was fresh. We will definately be back.

The dinner was on Sunday, when there's live jazz playing. The music was good, I'm not much of a jazz fan but it is a music that's easy on the ears just night before you go back to the madhouse at work. The food was good, I would recommend the lasagna that we ordered. Its very different from the lasagna that I normally eat (ginormous portion with lots of meat and cheese). Bocca's lasagna was filled with fresh seafood, limited cheese. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends -- its also a good place for a first date.

The service is always exceptional, as is the food.Every now and then an obnoxiously loud customer sneaks his or her way in, but that is certainly not the restaurant's fault. Fortunately, it is not a party or bar scene type of restaurant - i'd describe it as a restaurant for adults who want to have a wonderful dining experience without having to edge their way through the type of crowd that just wants to "see and be seen."

Must have walked passed this place fifty times and never noticed it till open table. Beautiful small restaurant with an attractive bar for those who just want a drink or to dine alone. The food is not run of the mill typical Italian food except for the homemade pastas......excellent. Moderate prices, friendly staff, nice wine selection and very good food. Recommend for a couple or a small group of adults. Btw, we noticed a corner nook that would be perfect for a party of six or so. My wife and I will be back.
