This quaint Asian fusion restaurant located inside Hotel Nicco was a great fine for lunch. Their menu was small but adequate, and their food was delectable, beautifully arranged and plated, and very tasty. The bacon in the Cobb salad was the best we had ever tasted, and the chicken, sushi rolls, and dessert had excellent flavor. We were there when it wasn't too busy so it was very quiet and was great to hold a conversation. I don't know if it stays quiet when it fills up. The service was also wonderful, and they were very attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend going here if you have a chance.

Ate at the sushi bar before attending a show at the Feinstein's showroom. Good quality sushi roll although expensive (it is San Francisco, so high prices are not a surprise). Service was highly attentive. They were able to accommodate me for a later time and still finish service before the show, as heavy traffic prevented arrival at my scheduled reservation time.

The Hamachi Nigiri was great, but my steak was undercooked (and sent back), and the other food (sushi rolls) was average. Our server was very attentive and thoughtful when *around*, but was fairly scarce and did not check up on us within a reasonable time after we were given our food. Service was slow: our main courses took an hour to get to us which is ridiculous, and their menu was overpriced. Another server who approached me when I couldn't find our waiter, was aloof and spoke with a tone of indifferent annoyance when asking what I needed (white female, top knot'd hair). So overall, we loved the "look and feel" of Anzu, but everything else was disappointing. With all of the choices in the SF, we are sad to say we wouldn't return here.

While the food was good it was not GREAT, as previous reviewers had led us to believe. Service wasn't bad but could have been better. The restaurant wasn't crowded pre theater yet we had to constantly try to get our server's attention. Priced a bit on the high end for what it was but then, again, it's in the Hotel Nikko.

We went for a birthday/Father's Day celebration. Filer Mignon was excellent if overpriced at $37. Black cod was just OK, nothing special. Dragon roll was of the quality available in any sushi restaurant at much cheaper price than $17. Hamachi was just 4 pieces with a fancy sauce for $18. Wine was outrageously overpriced with Napa Valley Chardonnay at $63 a bottle. The ambiance was very nice, even if the restaurant seemed a bit underpopulated. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. Overall we had a nice time, except for when we saw the bill. Don't think I would go again though.

Our group of 6 women shared 2 sushi rolls & edamame for starters. They were fantastic, fresh & flavorful. Two of us each ordered a roll for their entree, two others ordered cod & salmon and said it was sensational. The only disappointment was the sun dried tomato ravioli, bland flavor, mushy texture, not horrible but most definitely not on a par with the seafood.

I have visited Anzu in the past, but on a recent trip to San Francisco I visited Anzu and enjoyed it so much that I as I sat there at the end of my meal I cancelled my dinner reservation elsewhere for two nights later, rebooked (thank you OpenTable!) at Anzu, and requested the same table and server. On my return visit I had the "chef's choice" sushi, which was truly the most beautiful sushi presentation I have ever seen -- my compliments to the sushi chefs! My sushi was excellent, Andrea was again attentive and helpful but not intrusive, and manager Steve again made me feel welcome. Anzu isn't cheap, but if you want excellent sushi and great service, Anzu is the place to go!

I have visited Anzu a couple of times in the past, and was eager to return on this trip to San Francisco. I sat at a small 2-top table almost between the two parts of the dining room where I had a nice view of the sushi chefs at work. I chose a large selection of sushi, a glass of Silverado sauvignon blanc. Then I just settled back to read my book while my server Andrea did a wonderful job of taking care of me. Manager Steve stopped by to say hello, the sushi chefs gave me friendly smiles, and I felt right at home. I enjoyed my dinner so much that I as I sat there at the end of my meal I cancelled my dinner reservation elsewhere for two nights later, rebooked (thank you OpenTable!) at Anzu, and requested the same table and server.

We dined at Anzu on a Friday night. We arrived at 7:30, just as the theater crowd was finishing up. The restaurant went from packed to almost empty in about 15 minutes. The food was sublime and so was the service. Andrea, our waitress, made excellent recommendations for food and wine. We shared three dishes (also at her recommendation) because the portions are substantial and it gave us a chance to sample more. The takeaway cupcake was a nice touch, too. We received followup email asking what could be improved, and couldn't think of anything.

We had a lovely dinner last week at ANZU. The food was fantastic, the sushi divine, and the service was excellent. Honestly, I think we had the best service I had ever experienced anywhere. Our waiter (I wish I could remember names, I'm terrible at that) was amazing. He (and the kitchen) handled our food allergies with care and consideration. He also gave us great recommendations for sake (they have 2 pages to choose from) and offered a free birthday dessert for our friend. All in all, we had a fantastic time (and a fabulous meal), and the credit goes to the service!

Had brunch with my husband, in laws and my daughter's boyfriend prior to the Graduation Ceremony at the Hotel Nikko. Most of us had the buffet. Scrambled eggs were softly scrambled (which I prefer) and I love the variety that we could choose from. I had a small bowl of seaweed (I think) that had a Miso broth. Had the ANZU roll. It was wonderful - fresh and excellent quality tuna. The Prince Edward Mussel was excellent too - needed and got extra bread to soak up the juices. Had an interesting dish with Hamachi prepared two ways - grilled and poached. Both excellent, but the grilled was my favorite - extra layer of flavor from the grilling. Vegetables were all well prepared. Wish I had a bit more of the mash potatoes and the wonderful dish to accompany the hamachi

This has become our favorite pre-theater dining choice. Serving size is just right for feeling well-fed but not so full that you sleep through the show! Everything is delicious and beautifully presented; they do particularly well with fish, and it's quiet enough to talk with your dining companions. Our server even informed us of the 15% discount that is offered to those who show their theater ticket, which we hadn't known about. The frosted cupcake presented upon departure is a lovely touch, and great for intermission. Highly recommended!

the food was really excellent, with good service. this was a late night meal and the dining room had the look of a raggedy evening. i think because ANZU is housed in a corporate hotel, it bears all the marks of middle of the road dining. the staff was clearing tables and resetting before our meal was complete. the decor had some really nice detail mixed with some very incongruous design elements. whatever the thematic intention...the mark was missed by a long shot. i know you will only consider these comments those of a snark, however, it appears that ANZU is not up to the challenge or competition of the rest of the pack. which may be fine with all concerned.

Two of us ordered two filet mignons, one medium and one medium rare. When served, the asked who had the medium rare and I said that's mine. He set down the plates, but they were switched. Ok, no big deal. But the meat was tough. How can you make a medium-rare filet tough? The sushi we to start with was good, however. But all in all, for the price we paid, there's no excuse for ruining a good piece of meat.
