We are loyal diners of Nicola's and love the alternative to eat at Via Vite and get the same fantastic food with a different ambiance. The service was a true disappointment, waited for 20 minutes to get a bottle of wine, another 15 to get bread and when we asked for olive oil the waiter seemed confused. However, this this won't stop us from going again. The food can't be beat! Hopefully, the service issue was a one-time thing?!

While we have been to Niccola's many times, I was disappointed in the food offerings as well as preparation. I ordered the lamb shank that was supposed to "literally fall off the bone". WAY over done. Other people's orders were fair at best. I was really looking forward to a new downtown find....sorry.

Once again, Margaret (our server for the second time), was wonderful. She arranged split entrees perfectly, recommended an excellent wine and was attentive and kept the meal well paced. The food was terrific....even our most critical guest was pleased. Plus we love the ambiance, decor and Fountain Square location. I have been known to have relatively high standards when dining and Via Vite has quickly become one of our favorites and we look forward to more fine meals there.

As indicated above the overall experience was outstanding. The food and service were top notch, an excellent value for the money spent. The only criticism I will offer was in regartds to the flower arrangement I had ordered through Open Table @ Flowerpetal.com, I had to ask the maitre'd to get the flowers, they had overlooked that detail. Still overall a very good evening.

We had an excellent evening - we were greeted in a very friendly manner. Our waitress was well-informed and very patient with one of our guests who had dietary restrictions. The manager stopped by our table to see how we were doing, and the food was outstanding. Can't wait to go there again. Kudos to the staff.

Our server was excellent. Atmosphere was lively and pretty loud. A few of the 2-seater tables are pretty crammed together so we ended up over-hearing our neighbor's conversation. Great food. Great experience. Great location in the middle of town. I will definitely be back.

I was in Cincinnati for the first time for the Flying Pig marathon. My usual pre-race meal is spagetti with meatballs which is too "juvenile" for the upscale food Via Vitae serves. When I mentioned that this was much usual pre-race meal, my waiter asked the kitchen if they could make it for me. To my surprise, they did! This surpassed my expectations. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Cincinnati who wants good food, good atmosphere and great service!

The food was wonderful. I had the braised lamb shank with creamy polenta. It was very flavorful. The lamb was very tender and cooked just right. My dining partner had the swordfish and thought it was the best he had ever had. The server helped us pick a nice wine choice to go with the meal. The staff is just the right amount of friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I am already planning to go there again and have recommended it to other people. Lovely.

Our food was mediocre, and in the case of my date, entirely not what was expected from the menu description (Strip steak). And someone at the next table sent his dish back because it tasted bad. Our service was poor and inattentive, though more from the people who brought the food than our waiter. And, while very cordial, even he made only infrequent visits to the table. The acoustics made it hard to talk and the placement of tables made it uncomfortable to speak up loud enough to be heard by my date as everyone nearby would be hearing it as well. The decor was nice and I would like to see this place do well, but after recent experiences at other restaurants of the same size and price range, the service at Via Vite fell far short.

Our meals were exceptional, but the service was outstanding. Our waiter was brilliant. Very attentive, very knowledgeable, made some excellent recommendations, and provided just the right level of service--he wasn't cloying, but he wasn't stand-offish. The experience was a good one! I do believe that one facet of our dinner experience was one I did not expect. I still believe, much to our server's reassurance to the contrary, that the wine I was drinking was switched to that of either a different brand or that of a different kind, and the price the only thing that did not change.

We had a group of 6 people for a birthday celebration. We had to wait an hour to eat for an 8:30pm reservation. This is Cincinnati not New York! We love Nicolas and were very excited to eat there as Via Vite is owned by the same restaurant group - it did not meet our expectations at all. I have to say, we were pretty disappointed. not sure we'd repeat...

We had an 8:00 reservation but didn't get seated until after 8:30 - they did give us a drink while we waited for the slow pokes at our table to quit gabbing so that was okay. Once again the food was very good - but also once again - the wine was too warm and the service was spotty. For a contemporary restaurant like this you'd think they've have the wine storage figured out. They must have had an architect design the bar without input from a knowledgeable wine person. Storing the wine over the bar, under the lights is just plain stupid in my estimation. We'll go again - put just for the food next time.

We were really disappointed with our strip steaks. I ordered the temperature well & it was dry & flavorless. The accompaniments were potatoes & a mixed salad. I think the bar menu is great - lots of good drinks. The dining menu really needs to be amped. They need something other than vodka pasta, artichoke hearts pizza, and a bad steak. We will not be returning. We spent as much here as a night at the PRECINCT & the food was horrible compared to that establishment.

I had heard good things about it but we had four different pasta dishes at our table and we didn't LOVE any of them. I was told it was fresh pasta but I have had fresh pasta and that was NOT fresh pasta.

This restaurant is not going to make it. I certainly won't be back. The food was fine, but 1. the host had us wait while he took a call, 2. tables are so close together that we were bumped continuously by staff and customers, 3. staff is very lackadaisical--had to ask 3 times for bread, no one checked on how food was till much later, just an air of indifference, 4. server took away my plate when my companion was only half done, a major no-no. Quite different from their other restaurant.
