A word from Cinghiale - Osteria
The Osteria at Cinghiale has the feel of an elegant tavern with white table cloths and mahogany and leather banquettes. It features a large farm table for a special family-style dining experience. The menu is complimented by an over 500 label wine list that features Northern and Central Italian wines. There are approximately 40 wines available by the glass, each available in full and half pours. The restaurant was recently recognized by Food & Wine magazine as having one of the best new wine lists in the country. Outdoor seating is available, weather permitting.

Cindy Wolf does it again. While I'm still a bigger fan of Charleston, Cinghiale is an utter delight to experience. The Northern Italian cuisine is superb with many dishes I would make a special trip back just to try again. The favorites that we sampled were the Carmelized Mushrooms and the Kobe Beef Carpaccio for the Gli Antipasti course. For Primis I would highly recommend the Duck ragout gnocchi or the boat scallop rissoto. As a Secondi you can't go wrong with the veal... it was exquisite. The pork rack was also both a visual and gastronomic delight. Along with these amazing treats there is an equally impressive and thoughtful wine selection. Over 40 wines available by the glass and many of the wines available down the street.

This is one of my very favorite restaurants. I love the fixed priced option with the wine pairings. The only thing I thought was a little strange is that I was there with a friend early on a Saturday evening and the place was pretty empty (due to our early dining time) and the next two tables that were seated in a nearly empty restaurant were right next to us. Now maybe there was a very logical explanation for this - but it seemed a little odd given the number of people in the restaurant at the time. Regardless - we had a wonderful time and the food was fabulous.

The dedication to Italian Authenticity in FOOD, WINE, SPIRITS, SALUMI, PASTA, OLIVE OIL, etc. is remarkable! Cinghiale brings in so many authentic items directly from Italy. I was impressed with the SEASONAL ingredients: fava beans (delicious) and ramps. The risotto-style maccheroni preparation was so good--I WANT THE RECIPE. Is there a cookbook? The WINE LIST was incredible!!! When I saw it, I wished I had previewed it online first. (Now I have printed it out.) Italian wines are so numerous with so many different grapes. The list should be by region, but there should be another list by wine type/taste IN ADDITION to the regional list. The wait staff was very competent, but I felt Nick RUSHED us. Great GRAPPAS! I make better Tiramisu

I sent you info just a few minutes ago that they did not have our reservation in their system. Needless to say, I was very upset since we had guests from out of town, and we'd made a big deal out of this. Fortunately, they were able to accommodate us. (It was a Monday eve....) Thank you for asking. The fact that you care feels good after that very unsettling experience. NOT the way to begin the evening!

We dined in the Osteria and though it is an attractive and beautiful dining room, and the service was outstanding, the food was a bit disappointing. Prior to dining we enjoyed some drinks, a good red wine and some delicious meats (mortadella, salami and prosciutto) at the bar in the room that houses the Enoteca. Frankly, if we return, I would prefer to dine in the Enoteca, as the menu/food looks to be of a much better value for the money than what we got in the Osteria. PS: I was especially disappointed by the bean soup, (pasta fagioli) which though it had a very good taste, had one solid glob of pasta in the soup that appeared to be overcooked, sticky and frankly not pleasant to eat.

Overall, our experience was excellent. The atmosphere and service were great. Most of our food was very nicely done. However, the gnocchi were not up to the otherwise high standard. They were heavy, doughy, and when combined with a fairly dense goat cheese sauce made for an unpleasant textural experience.

Although the Osteria was only half-full, and the kitchen therefore not overwhelmed, an artichoke salad consisted almost entirely of chewy stems (no hearts), and there was a 40-minute wait for the entrees. Recognizing the latter, servers brought a second amusee bouche to keep us occupied, which was however not appropriate for that point in the meal and not appetizing to look at (cheese on a cracker with blackened onion on top). The swordfish entree was, nevertheless, quite good. Still, while servers were faultlessly polite, there is an air of inattention about the overall establishment. The managers should remember that their restaurant's prices and pretensions require an equally high standard when it comes to every course.

Overall pleasant experience but was a little disappointed with my main meal. I thought the location and dining area was very nice. We had an excellent server and for most of the night they were very attentive. Five of us were dining and there was a delay in receiving all of the meals at one time. I am not sure if they were not ready or the support staff failed to pick up two of the five meals. A number of us did find the menu to be limited which would prevent us from returning anytime soon. I felt the bar area was open and pleasant.

This was our first visit and it was wonderful. One of the infamous Cindy Wolf/Tony Foreman restaurants in the Baltimore area, it lives up to the excellent reputation of these venues. Food was great, wine list absolutely superb, and the service was great. It was a slow night and we got lots of attention, not sure if the service would have been the same had the restaurant been full; however, we're going back again and will try it at a busier time. Something tells me it will be just as wonderful as this visit. The owner came over to our table to chat for a bit which was very impressive as we were celebrating our daugther's 21st birthday and she also happens to be a culinary student (headed to Italy for a culinary educational exchange).

Fantastic. Can order American-style sequence of a salad or appetizer and an entree, but try the three course suggestions that provide an opportunity to have an appetizer, rice or pasta in between and a third course of a wonderful piece of fish, meat or poultry, all served with creative and wonderful glazes that satisfy but do not overload. Started with shaved baby artichokes with a lemon vinaigrette and parmesan, a dream. Next came a marvelous half portion of home made spaghetti with baby clams, fresh, juicy and tasty. Duck was perfect. Dessert was also yummy, shared with my friend. Helpful and attentive staff, amazing wine list. Beautiful restaurant and a great vibe. Go for a casual stop or a leisurely evening out, in Baltimore!

The evening went wrong from the moment we entered the restaurant with an 8:30 reservation and were told that they were running on time but to have a seat at the bar and enjoy a glass of wine. At 9:00 we finally inquired as to why we were not yet seated. Service was horrendous from the start. Our server, who took no ownership of our table ,placed the wrong order for one of the members of our party and we were left to sit until 10:30 and still no entre. This is certainly not characteristic of a Tony Foreman/Cindy Wolf restaurant. I have to believe it was a "rare" off night and we have promised to visit again in hopes of better outcomes. It is a spectacularly beautiful spot and if managed properly could be a another gem for the owners!

The food was good, but not great. I expected more from the food - my entree was great, but the appetizer and primi piatti were just ok. We were a party of four, and each of us had some (small) disappointments over the food. And for $48, it was not up to expectations. Also the $22 tab for wine with every course was excessive, considering the small amount of wine they pour in the glass each time! However, the Tiramisu dessert and Capuccino were excellent!! Overall, the experience was good, and I would go back, but this restaurant will not be on my top list.

We like eating on both sides of the restaurant. The one complaint was one of our guests kept asking about a plate of sliced meats she saw someone carrying to a table. Cinghiale is the best new restaurant in Baltimore. If you want to see the stylish and the affluent, this is probably the only place you will find it. The ambiance is chic, glamorous, and bustling. By your second visit, the staff will greet you by name and know your favorite wine. Without ever having a disappointing meal (since the new chef), it remains our favorite place for a special occasion in the Osteria, or a casual supper at the bar. And please don't show up here in jeans and a t-shirt unless it's a Monday and you're sitting in the Enoteca (wine bar), even though the staff will still treat you like royalty no matter how you look. Relaxed perfection is the goal here, and they've gotten it right.
