Making reservations via OpenTable was excellent. As far as the restaurant goes, we were there a year ago during the summer and thought the food was outstanding. We were looking forward to giving it another try. This time the food was bland, unimaginative and disappointing. Since we live between Newport and Tiverton, we were hoping to find a place outside of Newport that would satisfy. We'll probably give it another try.

1st time there as its 51 miles from my house in Massachusetts. Location is tremendous, Right on Mount Hope bay, would be even better in the summer. the interior is all natural wood very simple but extremely comfortable. Would work for a romantic couple dinner or a group of friends everyone has a great view. Bar at the entrance is also very nice. Will definately go back. Specials were great i had a whole Red Snapper with Asian cole slaw it was very good wife had 5 very large scallops. the chocoltae bread pudding with whipped cream was great also. Wine list is very short

I loved the spectacular view, delicious food, and attentive service at this gem of a restaurant. I felt as if I were on vacation. This was a perfect evening and the best time we have had in a while. How often does a restaurant achieve perfection in food and view and get it right on service? The heirloom tomato & goat cheese salad was amazing-the best ever. The cheese melted in your mouth. Compliments to the chef on an exciting menu w/fresh, local food. The Scottish salmon & blue cod were perfectly prepared & paired with fresh vegetables. The wine list was eclectic & affordable. Our server was delightful, informative, and attentive. The Manager came by to see how everything was going. Looking forward to returning to this new find.

Overall, very good. No exotic or experimental dishes here, but just good fresh seafood served against a beautiful scenic view. They have good cocktails and a decent wine list. Our server tried to please. We would go back again if in the area, but probably would not make a special trip to go there again.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

We chose this restaurant on the recommendation of friends of ours to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday. Initially when I made the reservation, I specifically asked if it were possible to order a cake or something for dessert. I never heard back. At 5:00, the day of the reservation, we recieved a call confirming the reservation, and were told at that time we couldn't order a cake through the restaurant- and it was too late to order it through the local bakery. After arriving at the restaurant, we waited quite awhile for the waitress to come and take our drink order. TEN minutes later she arrived back indicating the bar was out of bitters (???) and could my brother-in-law please change his drink order. The food was adequate.

We drove from Boston down to Tiverton, RI based on a review in the Boston Globe's July 24, 2008 Sidekick. I am always on the hunt for new waterfront dining places and this one was outstanding ... we sat on the deck with the sparkling Sakonnet River for our viewing pleasure as the sun sank slowly and majestically in front of us. And equal to the view was the food (and our knowledgeable waitstaff, Lisa, a Johnson & Wales grad, who made recommendations that were perfect), which was excellent. Mahi mahi was a special that night and it melted in my mouth ... and Gray's peppermint ice cream was the perfect sweet to end the meal. I have given The Boat House high marks for view, food and service ... and it deserves every one of those stars!

    Dined on 8/25/2008
I ordered baked stuffed shrimp which were the worst I've ever had at any other restaurant. The meal consisted of 4 shrimp (maybe you could call them large definitely not jumbo)with a tiny bit of limp arugula and bland stuffing that was cold in some spots. My husband had a filet mignon which he said was tasty but came with nothing else on the plate but a couple of greens. We were very disappointed and will definitely not recommend which is unfortunate since we are local residents. Our waitress was very pleasant though.

Very romantic and scenic yet not stuffy. We visited on a warm summer day and the beautiful large windows were open to the sea. Very elegant especially with the sailboats in the bay. Patio dining looked relaxing too with blossoming hydrangeas everywhere. We enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, entrees, dessert and coffee. Somewhat pricey ($110 for two at lunch) but the ambiance was fantastic and the food preparation very good. Highly recommended.

We've been three times now and we’ve not been disappointed, the food is very good and the view of the Bay excellent. If it's a warm "Dry" day which we haven't had many of, the restaurant windows fold open to let the cool breeze pass on through…. They also have an outdoor bar area that also overlooks Mount Hope Bay Try the award winning chowder - its best I've had and I've been all over.

The boat house was GREAT! Delicious, fresh food. Even better drinks. BEAUTIFUL views. Friendly wait staff. Our group of 4 sat outside on the patio on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in July. What a great day! We were not rushed at all. We sat for hours and just enjoyed the day. Our waitress was wonderful and sweet. The only bad thing about our Boat House experience was it took a while for all our drinks to come. The place wasn't that busy. I am not sure why this was. It did not bother us though. We were there to celebrate our friends engagement and it was the PERFECT place. Our bill came to $260 plus a $52 tip. That included 1 salad, 1 chowder, 2 appetizers, 2 sandwich meals, 2 main meals and about 5 rounds of drinks.

The waitress was very nice but needs a little practice on memory or should write down the order when given instead of asking us two additional times when she was off. The appetizer order was incorrect. We kept the spicy clam chowders anyway but should have returned it as it was not to our taste. We enjoyed the main dinners. There should be a little more variety of fresh fish since the location is on the water. The bus boy should have a smile on his face and should wait to remove the main dinner plates at one time. The place was quiet inside and we should not have felt rushed by the bus boy. We decided not to stay for dessert. This was a birthday dinner and enjoyed the setting but the staff seemed a little inexperienced for a place with an

Sirloin steak with bleu cheese butter was good, but for that price should include a starch or vegetable. They are working hard to provide good service, but service alone does not make this a valued experience. Won’t be rushing back, won’t be recommending this to anyone.

Great spot with a nice view of the Sakonnet River. Our waitress was very pleasant, but slow to take a drink order, slow to renew the drinks, but food was prompt and excellent. Sitting near the windows facing west during sunset is pretty, but there was enough of a glare that sitting with sunglasses on was a must. Shades or a solar screen would be an improvement.

Hi - My husband and I both felt a little sick and think that the regular clam chowder and crab cake were too rich. It could be that we aren't used to high doses of cream and butter. My Scottish salmon was great. When I found that one glass of wine had an odd aftertaste, another server helped, but the way she handled the issue bothered me. She was friendly and did take away the wine - the NZ Withers, which I really think was "off" or old. Yet in speaking with me, she implied that it was simply a matter of taste (not quality), dismissed my choice of a second type of white, then aggressively steered me to take the Cakewalk - which was a third higher priced than the whites I'd wanted. Small detail but not pleasant for me
