A word from Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar
Every day funk is what going Rogue is all about. Crazy tall light fixtures and walls that glow set against sand-blasted brick and well-worn hardwood floors. Menu-wise, going Rogue means doing things in the kitchen others said couldn’t be done. Like a completely fresh burger served medium-rare to make it the juiciest and best tasting in town. Or corn-dogs your not supposed to want but secretly crave. Going Rogue means your horizons are greater than the “usual suspects” of chain restaurants. Rogue gives it’s customer an eclectic enough offering of food and surroundings, that they can feel and be themselves. You can go Rogue when you’re slumming, you can go Rogue when you need to impress. You can go Rogue with a date, your mates or with your boss. Best of all, you can afford to go Rogue every day of the week. Need a stiff drink and tasty meal to get you through your daily grind and have enough left over to do it all again tomorrow? Go Rogue.

My lamb arrived cold so I sent it back to be fixed. The kitchen decided that by microwaving it then covering it in steaming gravy would fix the problem. This however rendering the meal inedible and was returned as soon as it was placed before me. It was taken back without question, but I think it was obvious why it was sent back. The waitress tried hard but was obviously unfamiliar with the menu, as she admitted it was her first night working there, a Friday night. What kind of establishment feels it wise to put on inexperienced wait staff on a busy Friday night? Overall I had a very disappointing meal. I've had good times there before but this was definitely an off night for the house.

The food was good but I had let the waiter know that I had an allergy to peppers and I asked if the curry had any and he said he didn't think so, but didn't check. I was sick all afternoon. Also the food took too long to come. Most people only have 30-60 minutes for lunch. I might try it again, but I am now hesitant since it seems like the waiters don't take allergies very seriously.

I had the Halibut Caesar Salad and I must say it was EXCELLENT. What was not excellent was the coffee. I ordered a capuccino and it was by far the worst capuccino I've ever had in my life. It was watery and cold. Fix your capuccino machine (or train the staff to make better use of the espresso machine) and everything else is great.

Over all our experience was ok. Amazing room but the food and service could have been better. Their seemed to be some confusion when we got sat and nobody came over to service us until I called the hotess over and asked for someone to come. The waitess who came was good though.

Had high expectations of the Transcontinenal and it's location in the railway station and layout is really nice. It was a Tues night so maybe a weekend is lot more busy as that would be better. I would go again if I was in that area.

Very, very good service. Food is not above average but it doesn't really matter, as this is Steamworks bar it really is all about the great beer. Top notch patio, one of the best in downtown Vancouver.

We had lunch at 11:30 and it was great food. Meals weren't too expensive. Not a lot going on in the restaurant, felt a little too quiet almost - I don't even remember there being music, but I'm sure there was.

-some food was cold, some dry, portions much too large -"crab" cake was more potato than anything else -service was not up to what I would expect - poor wine service, e.g. wine served when everyone still had full aperitifs rather than with the meal, server was not attentive, rushed, seemed poorly trained, plates sat for a long time after they were empty (other servers don't pay attention to tables that aren't their own), overall seemed poorly managed -this restaurant could be fabulous given the location, but I won't return unless I hear things have really changed

I had two guests with me and one of them ordered a New York steak but a server brought a dish which was not quite what he ordered. He was nice enough that he accepted what he was served, though. The two of guests ordered a steak but there was no steak knife and we had to ask for it. We also asked for drinks but it took long time before the drinks were brought, even though restaurant was about a half full. The server was friendly once she was at our table. There was a group of 8 customers by the entrance and they were making loud noise and we were not able to conduct our conversation occasionally.

We went to Transcontinental for a special event - Mother's Day brunch. We were disappointed when we requested a nicer table (by a window), and they placed us in a high traffic area instead. The hostess told us that all the other tables were booked, but no one was seated at any of the tables around us. We were also there at around 1:30, so some of the brunch tables were being removed as we ate; this wasn't very relaxing. The food, however, was delicious, and our waitress was very attentive and gave excellent service. The reason I rated service as poor is because of the hostess, not our waitress.

I have been there several times for lunch since the restaurant is across the street from the building where I used to work. The food is dependably good (although not spectacular), the prices are acceptable (although, I think, a little high) and the service is now quite good (at first, it was REALLY slow). The room is nice and the tables far enough apart that no one is overhearing your conversation. Not a destination but good for a nice lunch. Don't know that I would make a special point of going to dinner there but, if I were in the neighborhood at that time of day with someone who wanted a solid North American meal, I would suggest going there.

The ambiance is beautiful -- a perfect mix of history and modern comfort. The staff, however, deserve special mention. I've been there several times and I'm always surprised at just how positive everyone is. They all seem ready to go the extra mile and it makes the experience comfortable and keeps me coming back. The food and beer are great too! My new favourite place...

Your front of house completely messed up. I had a reservation in my name. My guest arrived and gave my name and was seated at table 26. When I arrived I was seated at table 226. We were both seated so that our backs were to each other so we never saw each other. We both sat for fifteen minutes waiting for the other to arrive. We did not have each other's cell phone numbers and it was only by luck that I looked around and recognized the back of my guest's head. It was a very negative experience for a business meeting.

We had lunch. This is my third time there. The food is good and tasty, but not special. Lunch is a very busy time because of the location - surrounded by businesses downtown. Service is good and the wait at lunch is not very long to get your food. I recommend a reservation at lunch time.

Good variety to the menu - lots of choices. Service was reasonable, however 2 people at our table had ordered soup to start their lunch, but recieved their entree's first. Soup arrived after about 10 minutes and everyone was already chowing down on their entree's.

Nicely refurbished interior, a lovely tribute to the bygone days of transcontinental rail travel. Wonderful posters from the first half of the 20th century highlight the walls. After checking the menu, my wife and I decided to order from the Prix Fixe selection. Unfortunately we were told that two of our selections were not available and that we really shouldn't have been given the Prix Fixe menu as the promotion had ended. So we went back to the regular menu. My wife's crab cake dish was enjoyable, albeit a bit pricey. My Montreal-style smoked meat sandwich with Ceasar Salad on the side was more reasonable . . and good! I ordered a Coal Porter from the drink menu but again, was told it wasn't available. Oh well, the posters are cool!

First time at Transcontinental since it was bought by Steamworks. The indoor sitting area is very nicely appointed and not too crowded. The service was timely, although they didn't check in quite as often as most servers. On this occasion it wasn't a bad thing as it was a business lunch, and it was nice not being interrupted. The server did forget to bring our bread basket. Overall the food was good. I had the clam chowder and it tasted very good. Great place for lunch, especially in the summer when you can sit outdoors.
