Unfortunately, this visit was not as good as our last. My mother-in-law and I both enjoyed our chilean sea bass, however, my husband's tuna was just a bad piece of fish - had a lot of tissue through it, impossible to cut (and it was rare!) Although the waiter offered to have another prepared, Jim declined since everyone else was done their meals. The waiter said he would remove the meal from the bill, however, when the bill came, only 1/2 was deducted. I brought this to the waiter's attention and he quickly fixed the problem giving the full deduction. We hope our next visit will be uneventful but may not go back until the end of the summer.

Great food with a Greek influence. We enjoyed the fresh homemade bread and the freshly made hummus. Watermelon feta salad was a first for me...and deliciously sweet! Everything was so enjoyable that we are coming back this weekend (5/28) so that my mother-in-law can share in the bounty!

Portions are large but prices are very much like NYC. Enjoyed feta and olive appetizer. The Greek flavors come through in many dishes and the wine list which had interesting Greek wines to chose from.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 4/1/2011
The Ahi Tuna appentizer was quite nice. The crab cakes were good and large; however, for a restaurant at the shore, I would have expected lumps of crab meat in them. My wife had the seabass, which she thought was good but did not have "complex" flavors. The chocolate peanut butter dessert was decadent (i.e. outstanding). The server was friendly and attentive. I liked the atmosphere (music and artwork). Overall, I would recommend the restaurant to friends and enjoyed the experience.

The menu is creative and varied but needs an overhaul. It hasn't changed in 2 years. The oysters are to die for and the waitstaff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We always want to go back, but probably will wait until the menu changes a bit. Also, there is a limited selection of fish unless you want it served whole.

Loved the multigrain bread with kalamata olive spread. Very good wine-by-the-glass selection and a great view of a sunset on the beach. Husband loved his birthday meal. I liked mine. I will not order strip steak anymore because it is too much work. I should have gone with the filet. Excellent vegetable medley accompaniement and creamy mashed potatoes made the world a wonderful place!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2003
    Dined on 9/25/2010
The food was good overall. The server upsold us a bit -- making us oder more food than anyone could reasonably eat. Three appetizers an an entree was too much. Calamari was large in size but average in flavor. Shrimp Saganaki was not traditional but tasted great. Octapus was very good but the salad it was served with was overdressed and oily. Braised lamb was the best dish we had. The ambiance was a little sad. We sat outside at a plastic table; it just had no ambiance at all. The inside seating didn't look much more interesting. Overall, It just did not seem worth $60/person (with wine). We just expected better.

I wanted something special for my birthday and had been disappointed with many of the local restaurants in Cape May and was up for something new. We visited the Pier House after reading several positive ratings on Opentable and we were not disappointed. Everything was excellent from the food (pH surf and turf with fried tempura lobster and filet mignon and my wife the sea bass), the view (we had a beach side outside table) and the service (excellent). We will definately return and look forward to trying the breakfast and lunch menus.

We were more than impressed with this place!!! When we gave them our names, they actually wished us a happy anniversary! I noted it when I made the resevation, but who knew people actually read them! The food was fantastic- we actually took pictures of it because it was so impressive. I gave them outstanding marks on Yelp, and added some pictures. My husband was actually FULL on the food, and not wanting more, like he does at most gourmet restaurants. I give The Pier House as many stars as possible!

This restaurant was excellent. The breakfast and dinner menus had many choices. We enjoyed a romantic dinner outside on the mediterranean inspired patio, which is across from the ocean. Service was efficient and very friendly. Our meals were delicious. I had an ahi tuna appetizer that was served on wonton. Truly delicious. My husband had chilean sea bass that he said was the best he's ever had. I had the flash fried lobster tail which I enjoyed but might not be for everyone's taste. It was broiled and dipped in a deep fryer, shell and all. Breakfast was huge and delicious. Eggs,omelettes,pancakes.waffles,fruit. Price is fair for Cape May where nothing is inexpensive. Attached to the La Mer hotel which was a very nice place to stay.

PJ of JP was his name and he was greedy in the reciept of the tip and did not offer change. His appearance as the tip was privided was of greed and need. When we arrived the restaurant was not full but they did not have our table ready and directed us to the bar. We waited for several minutes but the bartender never came over. After we ate we discovered they had an outdoor patio, but they never offered us a choice of sitting inside or out. It was a beautiful summer evening and we would have enjoyed being outside. I had read that other diners had enjoyed the shrimp saganaki - which was indeed wonderful, but the rest of the meal was just OK. Grilled octopus was a bit bland, swordfish skaras, also just ok, and the bronzino was a bit overdone. The service was not great; water glasses remained empty for too long and we could have drank another glass of wine with dinner - but no one asked.

We were a party of 5 and went to the Pier House to celebrate 2 birthdays. Arrived early to have a drink at the bar prior to being seated - they kind of wanted us to go to the table early, but we resisted. Sat down at exactly reservation time and had an absolutely delightful meal. Our waitress was great, we didn't feel rushed at all. My husband I shared the potato-leek-crab bisque which was good - although not very hot. My daughter is the only one who ordered a salad and said it was fresh and delicious with wonderful homemade bleu cheese dressing - and she IS an expert on bleu cheese dressing! All our entrees were perfect - delicious and well cooked with fabulous sauces. We cannot wait to return to the Pier House!

Wow, what a surprise it is to say that the Pier House is kid-friendly. But that's what was obvious this past Saturday night. Crying babies, crumbs and napkins on the floor, yammering toddlers; Pier House had it all. Such a shame! This used to be a fine-dining destination for us; worth the drive from the other end of town. But the abundance of loud children, the less-than-sophisticated server, and overall "come as you are" vibe make the experience less than inviting. The food was good, but you can get equal or better at so many other, more appealing places in town, why bother?
