A word from 3800 Ocean
We call it the “collective kitchen.” For the menus of 3800 Ocean are inspired not only by the local abundance of South Florida’s renowned crops that thrive under a hospitable climate, but by the regional flavors that stir the souls of our collaborative team of chefs. Each chef brings a new insight to the table: the comfort food favorites of New England; the fire and spice of Mexico; the Caribbean traditions of Jamaica; and the ageless classics of Long Island. Our own local abundance of fresh produce and seafood allows us to take the collective kitchen dining concept quite literally. Everything is made from scratch. Every taste evokes an emotional connection to a past culinary memory, or perhaps a future craving.

Maybe we were there on a bad night but they were out of almost everything on the menu. The waiter said they were really busy the night before(whcih would have been a Sunday). They offered specials in place of but the food was just average. Our waiter was great, but there were only 2 other tables of people in the resturant

We celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Solu. We had indicated it was our anniversary when we made our reservation, and it was obvious that they had prepared for us. Every staff member wished us a happy anniversary, and the chef offered us his special selection of desserts (complimentary), which was delicious! The service was perfect, and the food was great! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. We enjoyed it and will definitely return!

We had a wonderful dinner at Solu. The calimari salad was delicious! WE liked the 20% off coupon on line... good ssummer low season incentive. The bar area was nice, but a few patrons there were quite loud and extremely intoxicated. One actually fell asleep on the bar. Just gave us a good story to tell - we'd still go back.

David our waiter made this a memorable meal and a fun time! Service flowed well and even with a 1 year old it was enjoyable for ALL. Just try not to use the valet. They lost the keys to our car for 12 hours and our party of 7 had to take a dirty prom limo that they finally called after searching an hour for the keys. By then the 1 year old was not so happy.

Although Solu is a bit pricey, the portions are large and appetizers are easily shared. It is now offseason in Florida and my coments concerning noise level could be due to the few number of diners. Restaurant is beautiful and the setting overlooking the ocean makes one feel like they are on a caribbean island.

The food was great, as was the view and service, but the clatter of silverware and chatter was overwhelming. We sould hardly hear the server describe specials, nor could we converse as a group during dinner. The place needs carpet or something to absorb noise. We were a group of 8, and spent about $600. I wouldn't go back unless I specifically booked a table outside, in a sheltered, secluded area I noticed with just a few tables.

My husband and I have eaten at many restaurants in the palm beach county area and this is one of our absolute favorites. We recently moved here from Manhattan and are always searching for new restaurants. The only problem is that it is very expensive so although we would love to dine there often we tend to go only for a special occassion or to turn friends on to the restaurant if they are willing to pay the prices.

This is my third visit to Solu. When my brother, 15-year-old niece and I arrived on Sunday evening, we were seated and then ignored. Three other tables were seated and given water, drink order taken and menu described while we waited. I finally flagged down a server and explained the situation. Once David, our server, came to the table (he wasn't aware that we'd been seated -- maitre d's fault?), though, he couldn't have been more accommodating (my niece is a vegan) and friendly. He turned what had begun as a disappointing dinner into a lovely evening. Thanks, David!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2002VIP
    Dined on 4/15/2008
Took a while for the service to kick. A long wait for bread and water. The food needs some basics for eaters who require less spices. The simple pasta dish was taken off the menu and there wasn't any pasta subsitute so two of our diners really couldnt eat. They just had appetizers for dinner and they also were loaded with spices. There shuold be something for everyone. The calamri salad was good. The desserts were delicious. However, my first experience here was awful. The temperture in the restauant was freezing and it took them at least an hour to get it to some reasonable temperture so that our table wasn't shivering. Somehting about having to go down to the basement to do this. It ruined the night.

Loved the smaller portion desserts! Our outdoor table with a perfect beach view couldn't have been nicer. My husband was disappointed that the waiter forgot to tell us that the scallops were not available, so then he felt pressured to make another choice quickly, although the waiter said he would come back. We will return - but with the prices, it will be for a special occasion.

Overall, pretty good with a few complaints: 1. The rolls tasted as if they had been frozen. 2. The sea scallops were overcooked - dry and rubbery. 3. Music on rhw P.A. was a bit loud at first, but as the place filled up with customers and became noisier, it was less noticeable. 4. $9.00 for a bottle of water? Give me a break!

Second time for us. Nice atmosphere at bar area. Tables by windows...nice view. A change of menu...once a month...would be recommended...or more specials. One of our guests ordered a Pinot Grigio at the bar area...not a specific brand...and when we were seated for dinner, she ordered another Pinot, and it was not the same as the first drink. Much sweeter. Had to ask the waitress to go to the bar and find out what they were serving, and ordered another one to replace it. Also...would recommend not charging for parking if you are dining at restaurant. Overall...very nice. We enjoyed it. Will go again....

Between appetizers and dinner, we were subjected to a fire alarm, including flashing lights, which did not let up for at least five minutes. We were told we could wait outdoors if we chose. We remained at the table since we had been waiting quite some for our entrees. The wait for both courses was unusually long. My dinner, short ribs, had about three or four bites of meat, which were fatty. This was our second dinner at Solu, the first dinner was great, but after second experience, would not return.
