Service slow. repeatedly request coffee and water refills. if we weren't hosting out of town friends, we would have simply walked out. seated at a table directly in the sun without an umbrella. A VERY poor dining experience and quite an embarrassment for us.

The food was fresh and well presented. The place was really nice with details to show the history. The waiter was pleasant and professional. We only wished he knew more about the place. We ordered the cold cut platter which was very nice. Good wine collection. One of the steaks was a little over cooked (we ordered medium rare), the other one was perfect. The lamb shank was well done and tasteful. The pork tasted really good with its pecan sauce. Our two orders of venison were both good. The meat was fresh and tender and the flavor was well balanced. The char was dry and plain, but the fish was fresh. It was over all a nice experience.

A friend and myself rode our bicycles to Bow Valley Ranche for brunch. I was disappointed that on the weekend the lunch menu was not available. I ordered a spinach salad and my friend ordered eggs benedict. The salad arrived long before my friend's dish, our server did take note of this and did not charge us for our beverages as compensation. My friend enjoyed the eggs benedict very much and the spinach salad was good, but not exceptional. It was a sunny day and we were able to sit on the patio, it was a lovely setting with the potted plants and the surrounding garden. The server offered to fill our water bottles for our return bicycle ride , which was considerate. I would definitely return to the Ranche but next time for lunch.

This is our second time at the Ranche. Same experience as last time - Great food, very bad service. In addition they say they have had a recent management change and they do not honour gift certificates from the previous management.

We went on Friday July 4. The food was very nice, as was the wine, but we were seated in the main room, which was very noisy with a number of large groups. Our service was not great. The waiter got the drinks order wrong twice, and then took forever to take our food order, then forever to come and ask us about dessert then forever to come and take the dessert order. The room was not that busy with many empty tables, so we could not see why things took so long. It spoiled a special birthday and I would have expected more for a $400 bill for 7 people. I would ask for seating in one of the smaller rooms in future to cut the noise. Lovely setting as always.

My wife and I took Australian friends visiting Calgary to lunch at the BV Ranche. They were stunned by the location, the building and the historical connections with Calgary. Then came lunch. We enjoyed the Ploughman's Plate, the bison, and soup. All were excellent. Our server, Marwen, was the absolute best. We would return to the BV Ranche for a meal in a moment and we are telling all our friends what a great place it is and especially one to take visitors to the city.

Learning about the history of Bow Valley Ranch and being able to sit and dine at that location was very special for me and my wife on our 23 rd. anniversary. This was our first visit but will not be our last. Even though we live on the opposite side of the city we want to learn more about the history of Bow Valley and Fish Creek park. The food was outstanding and our waiter's personality added to our enjoyment of the meal.

The presentation and taste of our meal was delightful. The gentlemen looking after us was outstanding. He made us feel extremely welcome and as we were celebrating our 43rd anniversary went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed our visit to the Ranch. This was our first opportunity to dine at the Ranch since its reopening and after this most enjoyable experience we will definitely be dining there frequently.

My wife and I got married in FC Park on Saturday. Our two friends and us then went to BVR for brunch. Upon arrival we were greeted by the most rude (he was an older middle-eastern man) server. He did not acknowledge (despite our clothes) that we had just gotten married; at one point kicked my wife's sash on her dress out of the way as he filled our water glasses and then literally 'dumped' the cheese platter appetizer on the table and stated 'here's your cheese' and left. Our one friend was infuriated at the repeated rudeness and complained to the manager. Our server was replaced by a great one - Addy and he came by later with port for all of us and apologized. Given the expensiveness of the meal I would give this experience 6/10.

Exceeded all of our expectations! My fiancé and I went on our six year dating anniversary. The location is very beautiful and had a very Canadian themed decor + menu. It defintally lives up to its reputation. Dress would be business casual and pricing is aligned with the portion and quality of food. Their menu is posted on their website along with their prices. We would highly recommend and already have to our families. We will also be returning to try more of the items on the menu.

What a lovely spot for a restaurant! The ambiance is wonderful, the food was excellent (my husband loved, loved, his steak), they were super accommodating with the kids, but what stands out the most was the fantastic service. We will definitely go back here, probably with in-laws or guests as it is a fantastic place to take out-of-towners.

We visited the Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant for the first time since it was taken over by new owners and refurbished. Wow!! What a difference!! The restaurant is gorgeous. Also, the food was great and the service was outstanding. I ordered the elk and my husband ordered the lamb. Both meals were excellent. They seated us in one of the smaller rooms as the dining room was quite full, and we loved the cosier atmosphere of the smaller space. After dinner we enjoyed a little walk in the garden between the Ranche and Annie's. We couldn't have been happier with the experience!

We had a very enjoyable experience at the Bow Valley Ranche. The food was excellent. Service was slow when we arrived, but improved over the course of the evening. Our reservation was for 7:15 and the waiter may have been simply overwhelmed when we first arrived. Our appetizers didn't get to the table until about 8:20, but after that the evening flowed smoothly. My only negative comment on the restaurant is the noise level. Some area carpets on the hardwood floors would go a long way toward dampening the noise. Early in the evening when the restaurant was full, we found ourselves needing to raise our voices to an uncomfortable level to be able to converse.

Went to the Bow Valley Ranche for brunch. First time visiting the restaurant since it has changed to new owners. New floors are beautiful but I definitely missed the old flooring. The artwork on the walls is a bit gaudy and didn't seem to match the overall decor. The pastries we ordered were great, nice large portion. The French toast was good, but not great. The venison hash portion was very small and seemed lacking in presentation. Probably wouldn't go for brunch again but would like to try the dinner menu.

Since taking over the location at the Ranch in Fish Creek Park, the Great Events people have gone to great lengths to make the dining experience memorable. Even though there were few people on an early-week night, the room still felt warm and comfortable. A large party in an adjoining room was not even noticed until we left. The food was extremely tasty and elegantly presented and the service was prompt without being overpowering. It is a bit pricey, but well worth it for that special occasion or for those who like great food period.

We always enjoy The Ranche. The food is interesting, a bit different from the usual Calgary fare. We were there for brunch, one of the best in the city. The setting (on a good day!) is beautiful. The main dining room is airy, and never feels crowded. The service is attentive, and never rushed. All in all, it's somewhere we come back to, and it's especially a great place to take out of town visitors.

I took my fiancé here for his birthday on May 30th. When I originally phoned in, they told me they do something nice for a birthday, such as write on the dessert plate (i.e. "Happy Birthday"). I was told to order a dessert and that they would put that on there for me. However, when the dessert came out nothing was on the plate. The waiter understood my annoyance, and comped us a glass of wine each which was just as great. Overall, excellent place and amazing food!

We always have a fantastic time when we come to the Bow Valley Ranche - we even believe it's better than it ever has been. The staff is always polite and welcoming. And the food - to die for! We have never had a bad meal here. The host lots of weddings in the summer as well as have part of the restaurant open and they never miss a beat. We were looking to trying the Bow Valley Ranche because of the new owners. Presentation of the food was excellent and the taste was very good. We were very pleased with our selections. The wine list was adequate for a fine dining experience. The really disappointing part of the meal was the service. It seemed to take forever to order drinks and then almost eternity for them to come. We had to ask the waiter to come back for our meal order ...it was almost 45 min after he delivered our drinks before we spoke to him again. I find this unacceptable for the price you are paying to dine at this establishment. Yes it was busy but hire more staff. It is not very pleasant to spend $600 on a meal and feel like you have been ignored.

A beautiful maintained historic Ranch house situated in the heart of Fish Creek Park, the scenery is a given. There are things to see inside the Ranch and outside it, from art, sculptures, historic write ups and don't forget the wildlife. The service is outstanding, making you feel comfortable the moment you walk through the door. The menu is filled with delectable appetizers, entree's and of course desserts, you'll have trouble deciding what to choose. This restaurant can accommodate pretty much any venue you can think of, from hanging with friends to a special occasion dining experience. I recommend not missing out on a rare dining experience in a big city!

Went to the ranch for a birthday dinner. The ambience was great. The service was very good but the food was a disappointment. My salad was delicious (kale salad) but the main dish for most of us was a disappointment. One of the ladies had the pork tenderloin and said it was very good. I had the special- halibut which was overdone and the fiddleheads were, well,.. old and dry. THe arctic char left one of the guys hungry and my husband said the veal shank was just ok. I would expect the food the chef delivers at this restaurant to be of better quality. Again, love the venue but the food was generally disappointing.
