We had never been here before, but wanted to avoid the chain restaurants in the area. The food was excellent. All 3 of us had different dishes, but were very happy, including one friend who had recently been to Italy and compared the quality with that in Italy. Definitely a restaurant we will go back to. Worth fighting through the construction to get there.

If you don't mind paying an absolute premium for a barely passable mall-type restaurant experience, then this restaurant is, unfortunately, acceptable. Otherwise, by all means, you probably shouldn't bother.

If you are looking for an Italian restaurant with an authentic flair, this is the place. From the moment you enter you realize this is nothing like the Italian "chain" restaurants. You feel like you are in a real "family owned" establishment where they really care about you, the customer. The service is outstanding and the food was awesome. The only complaint we have is that the prices are too high. I guess you don't mind paying a little extra for great food but they do have to remember that there is competition nearby. Even so, we will return.

Excellent service. Great food (especially the seafood entrees). Great drinks. Booked through open table and all my requests were met. You don't need to go to magianos or olive garden. Stick with the real Italian experience.

Clearly this restaurant has seen its day but needs some work. Fresh food inventory turn must be low as a couple of the dishes tasted like they had been in the kitchen for a while. The service was excellent and no questions asked when one dish was so bad it needed to be sent back. The butternut squash ravioli was the one highlight of the evening. Fortunately our guest ordered that dish so the night was not a complete disaster. We are from the east coast and would have loved to find a great Italian restaurant in the area but alas....this is not it.

Had eaten there before. Always gives huge amts of food. The pastas are excellent, but this time we tried the main courses. Disappointing. We sat near a table of very loud people, ruining the ambience. Not the fault of the restaurant. They try hard. Very friendly and attentive service. However, I will not go back after the disappointing meal. There are too many great places in Scottsdale/Phoenix area.

  • I am an Italian from New York

I am an Italian from New York and have eaten at some of the finest Italian restaurants in the New York metro area. I know the difference between good Italian food and someone throwing spicy hot pepper in a pot/pan and saying it is Italian food. La Torretta is truly "correctly prepared" Italian food. If you want spicy and cheap, go to Carrabbas or Buca Di Beppo, this fine dining establishment is not for you. The service was excellent and the food well prepared. I consider the pricing "moderate" and would place this restaurant on my short list of true Italian cuisine (i.e., Tutti Santi and Ruffinos) that can be found in the Phoenix metro area.

The food , service & ambiance was terrific! We love this restaurant & they were very accomodating in making me a dish that I had before but wasn't on the menu. The noise level was high to us because of a singer/piano player. She was great but a little too amplified. When she was singing we had to yell to each other to be heard. Guess that's a sign of us getting old!

Service and food were most excellent. we even got complementary dessert which was a nice touch. i think they should advertise more and maybe put up more signs on the corner so people know they are there. i want to see them succeed. it's hard to find a great italian place out here, so when you find one, you want it to stay around.
