It was my first time at this restaurant and a few friends and I was going out for our annual pre-Christmas dinner and decided to try this place out to support local business on the Island. Our Waiter was awesome, he had a great sense of humor and always checked on us and we never had to ask for anything twice. It was nice to meet the Chef /Owner and to see how he greeted everyone and thank them for coming. Food was excellent. I shared a dish with someone and thank god that I did, it would have been too much for me to finish. I would definitely recommend this place to folks.

From the moment we walked in, our experience was a 10+ Trabocco is a gorgeous restaurant, and the food is superb! Friendly/knowledgable staff, and I love the touch of the owners walking around greeting the guests. Def will recommend to friends, and Trabocco is now my favorite Alameda restaurant! My only concern is that I may eat there too much!

We have eaten at Trabacco 3 times since they opened. The food is delicious--the pasta dishes, appetizers, and they have the best steak I have ever eaten. Chef comes out in the dining room to talk to the diners and get feedback on the meal. They also have Italian wine which is hard to find in the bay area. Love that they feature St. George's spirits and Rock Wall Wines--made in Alameda. They also serve gluten free pasta--yah! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and inviting. I highly recommend. Make sure you make a reservation as they get booked up.

Alameda has a lot of 'ok' restaurants, but finally has a GREAT one! From the minute you see the blue neon sign announcing the restaurant, you know you're in for something special.. The food, service and atmosphere are very special for us 'starved' Alamedans. It is about time that a restaurant like Trabocco has finally opened in Alameda, and judging by the crowd there on Saturday night, everyone else agrees! Seafood stew was a delight and my husband had a delicious roast chicken dish. Can't wait to go back!

Trabocco is a lovely restaurant located in the South Shore Center in Alameda. My husband and I dined there on a Saturday evening and were very happy with our meals. I ordered the Invernale salad. It was delicious. My main course was Agnolotti de Zucca, butternut squash ravioli, also delicious. My husband had the Invernale, but though he was ordering an endive salad, so he was disappointed. His main course was the Costata di Maiale, a grilled pork chop which was huge and very tasty. We finished off our meal by sharing a chocolate torta, flourless cake which was out of the world. So good. Over all our experience was very good. Service was excellent but at the end of our meal our server checked in only when we called her.

Great ambience. "When" the server was present she was excellent, knowledgable and friendly, however she disappeared after taking appetizer order and didn't return for entree order until the apps were delivered. Did not check up on our table often enough. Food quality was excellent and was very fresh however it lacked flavor. Chef really needs to kick flavors up a notch!! Place was packed and even though it is new a reservation is necessary unless your willing to eat at chefs bar or in the lounge. If they can staff properly so servers have time to be more attentive and the chef gets more heavy handed with spices this spot has huge potential. However if these area are not remedied I feel it won't make it!

I was anxiously awaiting the opening of Trabocco as it was in an excellent location and Alameda really needed a new special occasion restaurant. My Sweetie took me there last night to celebrate my retirement the day before - so certainly a special occasion! We couldn't have been more pleased! The ambiance was beautiful, we were greeted by a gracious hostess, and our waiter Mateo was a gem! Best of all was the food! We started with the grilled octopus and a salad with pears, walnuts, and grapes - both superb! My Sweetie had the grilled pork chop which he loved (it was huge!) I had the seafood pasta - with gluten free pasta - excellent! I also had flourless chocolate cake for dessert - the experience was a perfect 10!

The food and service on all 6 of my visits to Trabocco have been outstanding. Love the octopus/potato appetizer. It will make you totally rethink your view of octopus. Prosciutto with burrata, pizza with potatoes and mussels, and the wood-grilled fish and meats are all delicious. The desserts are all great. I especially enjoy the panna cotta made with a very lovely liqueur from Abbruzzo. The service staff is friendly and accommodating to special requests. The owner is both a talented chef as well as a great entertainer. He greets his guest with wonderful enthusiasm and can frequently be heard singing while he cooks. I highly recommend Trabocco.

I went with two other people. The decor is gorgeous and the staff is awesome. We had a great time sipping wine over a delicious dinner. Two suggestions: my dish was a little too salty (but I must say I regularly eat very little salt on my food) and the staff should bring the utensils needed right away (one of us ordered soup and after waiting for a little while we had to ask for the spoon). I wish this place many successful years and am recommending it to my friends!

The food was great, but noise level was too high. Also, one of the bartenders was very inattentive. To try and place an order for drinks was near impossible. There are quite a few kinks that need to be worked out, before this restaurant will be considered a competitor for a great restaurant.

I love this place! The menu is unique, diverse and there is a little something for everyone. I love the look and feel of this restaurant. I've dined here multiple times and my favorite place to sit would have to be in front of the fireplace. I love the food and everything I've tried so far has been excellent. The first time I dined here the customer service was ok, the food was excellent and I loved how the chef came out to introduce himself. It was opening week so I knew they had some kinks to work out. I have gone back every week since they've opened to see the changes and progression, and they've definitely worked out those flaws. Service has been almost flawless since. There isn't a restaurant in Alameda quite like it.

More upscale than what you tend to find in Alameda, I commend Trabocco for taking a chance on the island city (and in a strip mall, no less). Food offerings were very inviting and diverse, I was very happy with every course ... and I had them all ;-) My only complaint: They charge $4 per glass of fountain soda (no free refills). I'm sure it's listed on the menu somewhere but I didn't notice and certainly never expected to owe $8 at the end of my meal for two medium sized glasses of Coke. Ouch!

Restaurants with food this good rarely have service this bad -- at least in my humble experience. The waiter forgot to bring our appetizers, he failed to bring olive oil or butter for our bread (even after being asked), and it took forever to be served our meal. In addition, the restaurant was out of the first two wines recommended by the waiter. By contrast, the food was excellent. The gnocci were light and tender. The fish was fresh. The vegetables were perfectly done. I saw from other reviews that I am not the only one to have this experience. If this restaurant figures out that service is important, too, and does something about it, Trabocco will be a gem in a field of rinestones.

I made dinner reservations for two a day in advance. Despite seeing quite a few empty tables, we were seated in a long table, sandwiched between a party of 4 and 3. For a good 45 minutes, the empty tables that were there when we arrived, stayed that way. The calamari was okay but the sauce felt like it came straight from a stale can. Our main course (pork chops and ravioli) were average. The dessert selection was good. When the two parties left, we started seeing different people hover over our table. We realized they were waiting for us to leave. So for the remainder of our dinner, we had people on both sides talking to each other and pacing around us. Uncomfortable and annoying. The restaurant SHOULD have planned this better.

I really wanted to love this place but the food was horrible. I ordered a pizza that came out burnt and with these weird scissors so I could cut it myself. My sister had the gnocchi which lacked flavor and our server felt the need to embarrass her and correct her on her pronunciation of the dish. Service was friendly but very very slow. The restaurant was packed and I think they could have used another server or two. The place is beautiful but that's the only thing they have going for them.

We were excited to take my son to this new place for his 17th birthday. We made reservations through Open Table, only to be told at the restaurant that we would be seated outside. We were not given the option to sit inside (we were told it would be "A very long wait"), and we had no idea that our reservation was for outside. We were seated outside to a table that was not set and our waitress needed prompts to do so. Ice teas were not refilled without asking, and the cappuccinos had to be sent back because they were basically milk and water without coffee. This restaurant is expensive, patrons should receive better service and consistently good product. It has good potential as the food was very good.

Upon being seated, we were welcomed by owner, Giuseppe. Our server, Mark was awesome! Very informative. Since this was our first time there, we asked for a recommendation on what was a good cocktail to get and he recommended the Milano Mule. Very good & the copper mugs it came in, kept it nice and cold for a long time. For an appetizer, Mark recommended the octopus. The rotisserie special was duck so I decided to try that and we also ordered the chicken plate. Both were very good but that chicken had an awesome flavor and melted in my mouth. For dessert, we tried the pumpkin creme brûlée and tiramisu. Everything we ordered was fantastic! Highly recommend this place & am glad we have another gem in Alameda!

So we had dinner here on there second weekend they were open so I will be very kind in my review. We had reservations and It took roughly 20 minutes for the hostess to acknowledge us and get us seated. The salads were desperately in need of salt and a dressing with flavor. For the main course my wife had pasta and I had the house chicken that was supposedly marinaded in a salt mixture and then cooked on the rotisserie and finished on the grill to crisp up the skin. So it sounded great. The chicken arrived and most of the skin was missing. The chicken was bland, dry and truly forgettable. My wife's pasta was the same, boring. We will be trying this place again, after they have had some time to work out the kinks of service and cooking.

Trabocco has been open for barely 2 weeks now and all things considered, they are doing a beautiful job. We were seated very quickly and had an awesome server who was very attentive but not overbearing. The wine list although not huge has some real gems and our server suggested an Italian wine that turned out to be incredible. The food was all great from the light, tender calamari and pizzas we shared to the Scottish salmon and some killer duck risotto. Dessert was rich and tasty with the only low point being lukewarm lattes. Trabocco is wonderful spot in Alameda with a beautiful interior, killer outdoor seating, friendly staff and excellent food. Highly recommended!

All staff were attentive(especially to my husband's wheelchair needs) and very well informed, knew the wine selections and the food menu and helped us make excellent, delicious choices. The artist at our table spent the evening enjoying the ambiance created by the lighting, the mural, the warmth and sparkle mixed with moderne industrial chic, and most especially the sculptural wood fired oven....eye-catching and capable of producing perfect pizzas! ... A restaurant for special occasions, although menu choices are child friendly and invite us back... a more casual visit to enjoy the bar seating watching the busy kitchen, or even on the outside patio(well heated and full on our wintery evening visit) .

Our first impression upon entering the restaurant was of entering a brightly sparking, warm room. The bar area was beautiful with the impression of stained glass, mirrors, and lights. The view through the bar and outdoor eating area was of a hugh Christmas tree with lights surrounded by other trees with lights - beautiful. The Manhattan I had was the best I've had. Our table was near the fire place and we could watch the chef tossing pizza. The four of us each had a different entree, we sampled each others, all were delicious. We are looking forward to a return trip.

We went to celebrate two birthdays. The pork chops and pork belly were good. The duck & pasta dishes were bland. We were disappointed they ran out of risotto, since it was only 7:00pm. Tiramisu was yummy as well as flourless chocolate cake. Service was so-so... didn't see waitress after the order, nor refill of drinks. She did sing for the birthday couple, but no comps on desserts like mentioned on yelp. I might go check it out again due to the inviting ambiance, but not for service.
