The food was overly salty and it took the kitchen almost an hour to have our appetizer come out. Had to wait an additional 30' even though I had reservation.

The lentil soup at Hult's was maybe the best I ever tasted. It made me excited about the rest of the meal to come. While what followed was good, it did not live up to the promise. Short ribs with fingerling potatoes and carrots was very good. Kind of homey. Pork loin with turnips and figs sounded great. It was somewhat dry and bland. All in all, though, this is a better than average restaurant with better than average prices. The wait staff is competent, but not highly professional. The rooms are somewhere between casual and serious. The jury is still out on the long-range trajectory. The restaurant must pick up the pace in a number of areas to meet the expectations and the pricing that goes with it.

I want to note first that I really want this restaurant to be successful. There were 4 of us and we all ordered something different. We all tasted each others dinner and we didn't like any of them. It was very noisy but one can deal with that but we waited a really long time for our food and the taste just wasn't there. Hopefully they'll get this figured out so that they can be successful.

We both tried the Hult's experience again and were very happy. It is not the same experience every time. We did land and air. Both started with Lentil Soup which is really good. The main courses were filet with sauce bernaise (properly cooked with a Most Excellent sauce) and chicken with fondant potato and mushrooms (excellent presentation, excellent taste). For a Tuesday night it was busy, but not overly crowded; which made it a very pleasant environment to enjoy our chocolate lava cake and artisan cheese plate. We are so happy to have this kind of high quality food at reasonable prices contrasted to the neighboring establishments. Now looking forward to coming back and having at the lamb shoulder and osso bucco braises!

Seated by the windows on Sat. evening, I was cold with two layers on. The view of the street does not add to the atmosphere and could use some landscaping. My onion soup was too hot even though I stirred it and waited a few minutes to eat it. My entree of the pork loin was good but could have used a spoon more of the glace and another bite of fig as that was the best part. Just trying to be constructive as it was easy to see that you are trying hard to make a success of this venture.

My wife got the special traditional french onion soup (most excellent), I opened with the fall salad (very good). She enjoyed very much the quinoa "risotto" accompanied by a Tank House sirah, I went with the ala carte "SImply Grilled" black cod with sides of Carrots and Cauliflower. The staff is friendly, the owners are hands on and the chef and kitchen staff really care what comes out of the kitchen. The coffee is really good and thus far we have never had an off meal. The noise level can rise, but prophylaxis against noise echo has already begun and more is forthcoming.

We loved the the ambiance. Our server, Stephanie was adorable, knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. We would definitely return to try more dishes. The presentation and taste of everything was top-notch. The owner popped by to introduce himself at the beginning of our meal and came back over at the end to see how we were treated, how the food was, and if we had any suggestions for improvement. It was delicious!

The menu is trying too hard. In fact the entire restaurant tries too hard with the offering of warm towels at the beginning (am I eating with my hands?) to the sample amuse-bouche that was not very tasty. The menu offers sauces on the side for an additional $3 which should just be included. The portion sizes are small and all the food needed salt. My party of 4 left disappointed and sad that we spent so much money and calories on a very lack luster meal. Our server was very nice, warm and friendly. However I felt sorry for her having to explain so much about how the menu works. We were presented with a Specialty Drink Menu which included a Sangria cocktail but when we ordered this cocktail, they were out of Sangria. 630p Friday.

Service involved too much useless hovering. "is everythingall right?" interrupting coversation many times. Yet when we asked for something, salt, it took 3 requests. Food not hot enough. Portions on chicken clunky, too big. On beet salad, shaved so thin, could not see. Chicken very dry.mMenu looks good, presenations pretty, but needs more finesse.

Hult's is still working out a few kinks. The waitstaff could use more training and provide better information about the menu. We were there at 6:30 on a Sunday and the restaurant had run out of several of its dishes. The table of four next to us each received an amuse bouche. Our table of four had to share two because they had run out. The table of three behind us did not receive one at all. All of us could see what the others were eating. At the bar, the bartender poured a scant 1/2 glass of Gloria Ferrer champagne for a guest. The bottle retails for less than $20. The scant glass cost $10. On the plus side, restaurateur Alex Hult spent a good 5 - 10 minutes with each table. I would give Hult's another try.

Third time here, did the experience again - Water for me and Earth for the wife. Opened with nice amuse bouche. Then oysters for me, beet salad for her, followed by Salmon with field greens for water and butternut squash agnoletti with sage foam for earth. FInished with lava chocolate cake topped with a caramel and sea salt gelato and a huge creme brulee with figs and a tiny cookie. The front of house staff is very friendly and the kitchen execution is outstanding, especially compared to the LG competitors. My wife does not like beets, goat cheese or walnuts and she LOVED the beet salad: you can see that the chef is a flavor master. We will be back for a fourth time for sure. Happy to see bar for excellence raised in LG.

While expensive (like most good Los Gatos restaurants), Hult's will likely vecome a regular destination for a good night out due to its good food & service, size, location (including public parking access) and the owner's plans to add late night music and dancing. Owner Alex Hult expects to receive their new liquor license soon; accordingly, tables will be reorganized after 10p for three hours of dancing & entertainment as a bar).

What gorgeous setting! The dining room is gorgeous and the city lights going by gave a feeling like we were in a big city , yet still in our charming little Los gatos! The food was delicious ( I recommend the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon), the staff charming and a well rounded wine list( I recommend the Ramey Chardonnay). Being that we were there with a party of 6 within the first week of opening the timing of the service was a bit off, but I think their staff will quickly get into the proper groove. We will definitely be back soon!

The food was very good, one thing I noticed is that it lacks Ambiance and was somewhat cold. Noting that is viewed from the road I would remove half the wine bottles and add a nice fireplace and some pictures on the walls would warm it up. Maybe they are planning on adding a few but I prefer warmth over starkness. Also make sure the food is hot when it arrives at the table. My dinner was very good but it was not the temperature I would of expected. Otherwise, a huge step up from what was at this location previously. Very nice staff and friendly place.

We welcome Hult's to Los Gatos, it will fill a much needed gap in the culinary scene where Nick's seems to be running on reputation but not great food and Dio Dekka has priced itself to the "special occasion" level. The food at Hult's is very good, standard comfort items. The service is friendly and professional at the same time. Alex, one of the owners, made sure to visit every table in a packed house, a sure sign that he cares. Hard to be too harsh as we dined on a very busy Sat night, only their sixth service. It was so incredibly loud though, you could not have a conversation. Alex says they are working to fix this, which is critical. We will return in a month or so to see how it is going...hopefully the TV will be moved or gone.

All but the salads were overcooked. Osso bucco with polenta - Jerky and hushpuppies. Salmon - charred flavored skin but dry flesh, steak - ordered med-rare came out almost medium well and no juice. My wife ordered the bacon wrapped pork and it was by far the best meal on this table this particular evening. I was very happy the wine list included some of my favorite California producers, we were halfway through the second bottle before the entrees came out. That was an hour after our initial toasting to the new restaurant. There are too many great restaurants to be going back to Hult's.

The food and service at this new restaurant were sophisticated and well thought out. The high quality of the food items was apparent in the flavors of the dishes. The servers/bus staff were very good and on top of everything, which is where many places fall down. The truffles at the end tasted homemade. The food was cozy but the interior was a bit stark.

Hult's had been open just under a week when we dined. The food was excellent. Lentil soup and Fall salad were delicious. Mac and cheese yummy. The chicken and beef dishes were very good; although the beef was a bit underdone. The noise level is very loud, but all the wait staff and owner apologized preemptively and mentioned that they should have noise dampening options installed soon. We will go back soon and assuming they get the noise issue resolved expect that this will be a regular spot for us.

This was our second time, the first with an OpenTable res. The first time we had the Hult's Experience, "Land" for me and "Air" for wife. This is a prix fixe themed, "trust the chef" menu experience. DO trust the chef. Michael Ellis knows how to deliver on Land and Air for sure. Excellent ingredients, creative combinations, great execution, delightful presentations and sensible wine pairings. Tonight was just as good: Opened with Fall Salad (not overdressed, very tasty) and Beet Salad (mighty good flavor combinations) followed by mains of Pork Tenderloin (thick chunks cooked perfectly) and Salmon (also big chunk; great sear and finish on it). Sides of carrots (heavenly), cauliflower (ditto) and mashed potatoes.

We were excited to try the new restaurant in Los Gatos, Hult's. We were very disappointed because it was extremely noisy. We were seated in one of the quietest sections of the restaurant and we felt like we were yelling at each other. There were 5 people in our party. The owner was very nice and went around to the tables introducing himself and came back several times to check on us. We did tell him that it was very loud. As we were leaving, we ran into a couple who were seated in the front of the restaurant. They said that they felt like they were yelling at each other too. Unfortunately we will not go back to Hult's because of the noise level. It does not lend itself to relaxing and enjoyable dining.

Rating is based on overall perception of how others also felt in addition to ourselves. Food was good when it finally arrived but pretty pricey for the portions served. It would be great to have bread instead of bread sticks. The noise was beyond loud. The wait for food to arrive was painfully long and observing others frustration to the same long wait. We ordered dessert "lava cake" it took 20 minutes but there was nothing in the middle, the ice cream was a teaspoon size and the worst part was the cake was burnt.
