  • Merchant's Row is OK, but......

It's not great. The food is good, but not exceptional. The prices are too high for the quality and amount of food you do get. I ordered Veal Oscar which was $34 and would have been fairly priced at $20. Downtown Concord and the historic Colonial Inn need a very good restaurant. As excited as I was about Merchant's Row opening, it is not a very good restaurant, it's just OK. If you have a choice between going to Merchant's Row or 80 Thoreau, definitely go to 80 Thoreau where the food , prices and service are much better. Or go to Searfina's or Chang An, where the food is equal in quality and the prices are more reasonable. I may go back, I may not, but I certainly wouldn't frequent Merchant's Row on a regular basis.

Enjoyed the experience being in a historic place. Fairly expensive, and portion sizes are somewhat small. Service was good and friendly. Beautiful room in which to dine. I consider it a place for special occasions, not for everyday dining.

Charming, seasonally appropriate restaurant situated in an historic inn. The tuna appetizer was delicious. The entree was creatively inspired, full of fall flavors, and well presented, but a little over-cooked. Service was warm and friendly, and the ambiences was historically cozy. A perfect place for a cold fall, or snowy winter's evening during the Holiday Season. I'll be back again, for sure.

The Colonial Inn is one of my favorite places to take out of town guests, to propel myself back to the past, and to indulge in Indian Pudding. However, I've not been there since name change and new chefs. What a joy this was. The food (salmon, filet, deserts) were delicious and the service from Katie the best. All of this within the ambiance of an old New England inn. Bravo to the chefs.

This was our second trip to this restaurant and it has now become a favorite. Both times the service was impeccable allowing the guests to feel like they were the only ones dining and the food......unbelievable simply does not even begin to describe. The variety of the menu offers something for everyone. Truly an experience that cant be missed!

I have to say that my rehearsal dinner was fantastic here. We had a nice room off to the side, and the food choices were just excellent. My fiancé and I were nervous enough about the next day's wedding, but the arrangements through Kim and Melissa were flawless. Add excellent service provided by Arthur, Linda and James, and everyone had a great time! We will be back for our first anniversary dinner, for sure!

I have lived in the area all my life and always wanted to try the Colonial Inn. I met a friend that I hadn't seen for ages for lunch. The food was very tasty, our waitress was EXTRA special friendly, attentive, but not obtrusive. In fact, everyone was exceptional. It was a bit pricey, but worth it for a special occasion.

  • I Like The Wine List in Concord!

The restaurants have a new look here! Pleasantly surprised to see that "Merchants Row" has been updated with both a new look AND new dining room menus, and a new wine list, to boot! My favorite Pinot Noir is available now--Santa Barbara's 'Hitching Post.' Remember the movie "Sideways? They loved the wine and you will, too! (along with the new menu...)

We had just 45 minutes to eat and the restaurant got us in and out in that time so good. But the food was lukewarm and the Maitre D inhospitable. The Maitre D was cancelling our reservation even after we had called in and said we would be late and had confirmed this would be OK. She said we talked to other staff and it was not her responsibility to talk with the rest of the team. Note the restaurant is in a Hotel and it does not tell you this. We spent 15-20 minutes to find the restaurant as it has no outside signage. The food was typical American cuisine - trying to be early American style. There was nothing wrong or bad about it but it was not memorable.

What a great way to start the week! I brought out-of-town relatives in for Brunch... and what a spread they have on Sundays at Merchants Row! Best omelet station with carved beef, full selection of breakfast and lunch items... loved the salads and the desserts--just one of the best parts of the meal!

Really enjoyed our dinner with Lisa as our server at Merchants Row. What a change from past visits! As a resident of Concord, I love the new restaurant at the Colonial Inn! I hear there is a new chef in the kitchen and I LOVED my baked haddock. My husband really enjoyed his NY steak... And we had the most enthusiastic, knowledgable server! Lisa was wonderful!
