A word from Acorn
Located within the Source, a reclaimed 1880’s refinery turned new epicurean marketplace in Denver’s River North District, Acorn boasts Chef/Owner Steven Redzikowski’s eclectic, contemporary American cooking in an approachable, family-friendly format, alongside Beverage Director/Owner Bryan Dayton’s ingredient-driven cocktails, and handpicked selection of artisan wines and beers.

Similar to its critically acclaimed sister restaurant in Boulder, OAK at fourteenth, Acorn’s culinary and inspirational foundation is its oak-fired oven and grill, which produce a seasonal, ever-changing menu of craveable, family-style small plates and entrées. Guests will also find a selection of favorite dishes from the menus at OAK.

Steven, Bryan and their team at Acorn are proud to be serving Denver, and look forward to welcoming you.

To begin with, our dinner at Acorn was outstanding. The cocktail menu is creative and offers a number of options along with wine and beer selections. The small plates approach allowed us to sample multiple types of dishes. The kale salad was light and refreshing, and the short ribs were melt in your mouth delicious. Our other dishes contained creative and interesting tastes and textures, along with a very nice presentation. The wait staff was very attentive, and responsive to our needs. We look forward to a return visit.

Enjoyed the shared small plates: apple and kale salad was delicious...strong on citrus flavor. Short ribs especially delicious....but polenta side practically nonexistent. However too tasty not to enjoy on a return visit. Shrimp and grits very good. Half chicken large plate was succulent and beautiful. Extremely noisy so not good if looking for a quiet place to visit. On the other hand, it is lively and vibrant. Will definitely retun for the good food.

Acorn was a pleasant surprise. Review of the menu before meeting a client for dinner did not prepare me for such innovated, delicious food. The small plates were the perfect size allowing for choosing several selections to share. Everything was perfectly prepared and presented. Servicer provided wonderful suggestions for both food and drink. I plan on going back and making Acorn one of my favorite new restaurants.

Met a friend for lunch this week. The cocktail list is a bit off putting - lots of obscure liqueurs and ingredients, but the waitstaff is happy to explain everything, without a trace of pretentiousness. I highly recommend the Dolomites Afternoon - one of the best cocktails I've ever had, and I've had a few! The kale and apple sad was wonderful, but the kale is very finely chopped, so not a great date dish given the probability of getting little green pieces stuck in your teeth. The double battered fried chicken was also very good- juicy chicken with a wonderful crisp crust with a delicious not too spicy gravy. Portions are not too big, not too small. Service is attentive without being overbearing. Big thumbs up!

The liquor cabinet at Acorn must be 3 miles deep with all of the different libations it takes to fulfill their cocktail menu. I needed a liquor dictionary! Amazing flavors of food ... Kale Salad, Scallops and Snapper were amongst our favorites. Didn't care for the sauce that accompanied the Calamari. Staff was attentive and atmosphere was very fun/lively (and it was even a Monday night).

The food was very good and service was great but the atmosphere and lighting sucked. I felt like I was sitting in dungeon. I'm all for an industrial feel and vibe but attention to the little details need to be addressed. Also felt like I needed to have a PhD in mixology to translate the cocktail list.; trying way to hard to be hip. Any of the tables for 2 backed up to the main bar and people were hovering over as we had dinner. Again a detail!!! Even though the food was very good I doubt I would go back for dinner.

The food was unbelievably spectacular. Can you cater our wedding next August? We love the Kale salad, the vegetarian dish that they just whipped up for my parents, the pork belly, the scallops...calamari & octopus...fried pickels...the drinks and espresso and everything...it was just TEN out of TEN. Charming. Well done. Will reach out to your brilliant staff individually but please let me know what catering at an off-site location would look like. The wedding venue will have a huge kitchen. All the best, Scott

Acorn was hard to find but well worth the effort. There is no sign outside the building to indicate that this restaurant and other businesses are inside, which caused me to drive by before circling back around. The decor is industrial with an open layout. With the high ceilings and loft, the noise level was high. However, I had no problems focusing on and engaging in my conversation. The food is heavenly. The flavors of all of the dishes were well balanced, hitting all of my taste buds with each delicious bite. The dishes are just the right size for two. We ordered 4 dishes and had dessert. It was just enough to feel satisfied but not overly full. Go try it...NOW! There aren't enough words to describe what a lovely meal I had.

Delicious food and cocktails with very friendly and attentive service. The high ceilings and a reasonable decibel level on the music made it possible for conversation without shouting. Why is that so rare in trendy places these days? Loved the chicken and that kale-apple salad. The hand-chiseled ice in the drinks was a fun touch. Pricing was on the high end but not outrageous. A good place to try with friends who are willing to share a variety of plates.

These plates are by no means small, but are great sizes to share with a couple friends. The seafood (shrimp and grits, and braised octopus) was especially outstanding, as was the pork belly and duck breast. I will definitely be returning, but likely for a special occasion as the plates (and drinks) are a bit pricey.

I recently had the opportunity to check out ACORN. It's been on "my list" since it opened in late AUG, but I hadn't had a chance to check it out. I was WOWED beyond anything I could have expected. I couldn't narrow down my food choice so I provided two options to my server and asked her to surprise me!! :) My lamb "shawarma" sandwich was about the best sandwich I've ever eaten in my life. The lamb was so tender and juicy and the flavor combination was to die for and I've been craving it ever since. My only regret was not getting to ACORN sooner!

Acorn is my new favorite restaurant! The food, which the table shares, is fresh, and delicious. They offer a lot of fun cocktails and has some nice wines by the glass (they have bottles too but we did not get one). The crispy egg and bacon salad was phenomenal! This food is worthy of any upscale restauarant in NYC. Service was friendly and attentive. I cannot wait to go back!

Food is mainly small plates and reasonably priced. (exception the Ham seemed way overpriced at $19 for the meager portion). The food is really well prepared with different and delicious flavors. One of the best restaurants in Denver. We found 2 dishes each was more than enough. Just a caveat re the beer list the first beer is $40!!!!!!! some type of O'dells - The Avery IPA is much more reasonable at $5 at the end.

The plates-to-share provided a wide variety of really good flavors to try. Our group of four was delighted and will return. The only disappointing dish was an overly strong broth that ruined the delicacy of the mushrooms. (Oh, and the tempura snapper was a joke.) But otherwise, every other dish was spot on. Good flavors and well enjoyed. Go. You will like it.

This is one of those restaurants that serves small plates and recommends you order three plates per person. That would be $45 per person for food alone in an industrial setting. The restaurant is small and has no atmosphere. The service was slow. The waiter wants you to order everything when you get there and he will "pace the food". That way you won't decide you are too full and stop ordering. We ordered 8 things for four people and it was enough but weird. We all left feeling like "too many flavors" and not really a meal. If you want bread you need to ask for it. There really aren't any salads and everything is pretty fat and carbohydrate ladden. Also, you need to know the restaurant is inf The Source.

We enjoyed every bite, however, we had to ask them to slow down the delivery of the small plates! It started to feel like we were being rushed. There were four of us, so we had a total of two selections each, plus the fried pickles,(wow), there was plenty of food, but it came so fast, the minute we finished one plate, the next came, and so on. Our fav was the scallops ( the first one on the menu). This was a memorable dinner, especially the short ribs for me, but everyone raved. It is a bit loud, but we seemed to be right next to a speaker. I hope the community will support this type of concept at The Source! It was fun!

Iberico Ham was one of the stars in the small plates - the portion of ham on the dish was so minescule it was not discernible. We asked for a very small slice of the ham just to tast it and it was provided at no charge (we had told the waiter that we were more than willing to pay for it). The small slice was wonderful because it let us know what the beauty of Iberico Ham is. All of this being said, the food is well prepared, very high in price. I ordered a glass of wine at $12 and discovered the next day I could purchase a bottle for $9.00. I hope this place can prosper here - there is a lot of advertising and work to do before it does. Yes, I will return, but not often.

Had it not been for a runny butterscotch pudding at the end (the flavor was great by the way), I would give Acorn a "5". For creative small plates it is far and away my favorite in Denver. Love the atmosphere and the vibrancy of the place. Meatballs were amazing as was the bacon and egg salad. The octopus and calamari were as good as it gets. Recently opened, the trendy Acorn had been on my list from the start. I love their focus towards seasonal cooking and they have a solid sister restaurant, Oak at Fourteenth. They have a good foundation to work from. They've hopped on the shared plates train, which worked well for our group. I enjoy being able to try many things in small amounts. Each plate had many flavors that popped and were memorable. My biggest critique would be that their service needs to flow a little better (or it might have just been our waitress) and they need to pace their dishes. We were bombarded with four of the dishes we ordered all at once, and there just wasn't room on the table. Overall a great food experience. Their logistics just need to be critiqued.

This was our first visit to Acorn and will not be out last. We sampled 6 of the smaller plates and each was outstanding with respect to flavors and cooked ideally. The smaller plates were not miniature plates as seems to be the norm at many places these day and 6 made a hefty meal. We could have gotten away with fewer but there were so many good looking options.
