A word from Acorn
Located within the Source, a reclaimed 1880’s refinery turned new epicurean marketplace in Denver’s River North District, Acorn boasts Chef/Owner Steven Redzikowski’s eclectic, contemporary American cooking in an approachable, family-friendly format, alongside Beverage Director/Owner Bryan Dayton’s ingredient-driven cocktails, and handpicked selection of artisan wines and beers.

Similar to its critically acclaimed sister restaurant in Boulder, OAK at fourteenth, Acorn’s culinary and inspirational foundation is its oak-fired oven and grill, which produce a seasonal, ever-changing menu of craveable, family-style small plates and entrées. Guests will also find a selection of favorite dishes from the menus at OAK.

Steven, Bryan and their team at Acorn are proud to be serving Denver, and look forward to welcoming you.

We recently took one of our friends to dinner here for her b-day. We had such a great time. We opted to go with shared plates. When dishes first started arriving we thought we would never get full. But...wow! We were so stuffed when we left. We probably could have done about 2 dishes less. But, they were just all so good. And the service was awesome! This will now always be on the top of my list. My only complaint is with the shared plates sometimes the numbers were off. An example: meatballs, there were 4 of us and only 3 meatballs. They should make adjustments for that type of plate.

At my brother's recommendation, friends and I traveled 75 miles for dinner at Acorn. We were not at all disappointed. The food was amazing. I know the menu will change, but if the kale and apple salad in on it - go for it! Service great. We enjoyed looking around the building at some of the other shops as well. We will go back!

Acorn turns out incredible food. My husband and I shared a few dishes there, each one better than the next. The tomato braised meatballs with burrrata on top of grits was so delicious, we are still talking about it. This was definitely a highlight meal on our vacation. The space is cool as well. Very funky and industrial.

Food was delicious and service was great. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and what could be made gluten free. The kale salad and short ribs were fantastic. We joked about how we wanted to lick the short ribs plate, the sauce was that great. It was a wonderful first experience and we'll be back soon.

We take guests to Acorn because the food is creative and exceptional. Four of us ordered 8 tasting dishes which were much larger than expected. The Kale and Apple salad was a favorite followed closely by the Grits and Shrimp. Grilled eggplant and Chicken liver pate were also very very good. Oak grilled short ribs were the least favorite--very small portion and not that exciting to taste. Although we felt satisfied we decided to share a dessert: CARAMELIZED BRIOCHE was sensational. In all another good experience with Acorn.

I picked this restaurant from the buzz I heard from other people, the location (was meeting someone) and the price as depicted by Yelp ($$). I was a little disappointed when I realized it was a tapas style restaurant and my friend did not have the budget to spend $15 a piece on four shared small plates between two people. I think just looking on Yelp or Open Table that the price depicted was a bit deceiving without examining the menu before hand. That being said the food and the service were both excellent, the beer and wine list were a little small and expensive. $11 for a glass of Pinot Noir and most beers being 22+ oz pours and $20+.

The food was delicious and creative. The warehouse space was relaxed, hip and festive. The service was professional. The weather was nice when we were there so they opened up one of the walls which was very pleasant. However there is a problem with glare from the sun on some of the tables. It was not an issue for us but some dinners asked to be moved. We prefer a lower sodium diet and the waitress was very helpful in guiding our food selection so that it was less salty. The chef Steven Redzikowski is a master! If you ever find yourself it Denver it’s worth checking out.

  • An evening at Acorn

    Dined on 6/21/2014
Acorn is very different from its sister restaurant Oak in Boulder. Acorn emphasizes family dining with shared plated. Their definition of the number of plates per person is far more than an individual could comfortably enjoy. The menu was down scale, fried pickles very doughy in the aioli sauce. Redfish was not as flavorful as expected. Drinks are very pricey on the Denver scene with an average of $10-12 each. The four of us enjoyed $232 of food, and didn't feel like it was anything special. I had very much anticipated this dining experience, and found that the small and large plates left something to be desired. Glad we tried it, will only go back to Oak at 14th from here on out. The Source is a fascinating experience.

The food is very interesting and delicious. But the drinks are the cheapest pours of anywhere I have ever been. Restaurants make money on the drinks, so why not pour a real drink. The bartender actually used a shot glass to measure the vodka! We spent over $200 and the fact that the drinks were so CHEAP, makes the experience much less enjoyable. We had the 38 oz. ribeye and it was great, but again the fact that the drinks were so stupidly small makes the experience one which we won't go back for. Too bad...

We went with a big family group to this place, so we could really enjoy the big plate shared dinning experience. I had the best roast chicken I have ever had in my life at this place. Everything was delicious. Everyone had a great time (except the meatballs-sorry). The waiter was very attentive and friendly. The place has a great atmosphere with the old building and beams. We were seated upstairs-which was great, because I do think it can get loud downstairs in the main dinning room. We have dinned here as a couple and found it fun, and delicious that way as well. The whole building and businesses really add to the place. It is cool, fun, and delicious. Everyone should check it out.

Between the four of us, we tried eight dishes, all were excellent. My favorites were the Crispy Egg and Bacon Salad and the Meatballs with Grits. Went on a Monday night so slow, flavor was good and not overpowering, meaning they did not kill the dish with too many spices and sauces was the right mix. Food was not served hot but very warm. Only thing we were struck at was the lack of engagement from our waiter, we tried to get him to help but seemed to just be there, definitely did not add to our dining experience, hoping was just a off night for him and not a reflection of the this restaurant.

Having seen this restaurant listed in 5280 and wanting to check out the local brewery at the Source, we made a reservation for Acorn upon the recommendation from a friend. Wow, did exceed any expectations we had! The food was AMAZING and service superb. Having had many shrimp and grits dishes over the years in many regions, I can honestly say they prepared one of the best dishes I have ever had. And the squid ink pasta...a MUST. Also try the egg and bacon salad. Although the menu suggests 2-3 small plates per person, we were stuffed with 4 amongst the two of us. The short rib dish was good, but not large. But all in all, most dishes are larger than we were expecting. Enjoy!

While attending a conference in Denver this weekend, I have to say this was quite a find. My dining mate and I ordered 5 small plates to share including the eggplant (outstanding), the fried pickles (so-so), and the meatballs (very good). We also tried two desserts and both were outstanding. I also thought the prices were very reasonable. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the atmosphere was great.
