I like Paolo's because while the food is not exceptional it's always good. The staff is friendly and professional, the wine is good, and desserts excellent. A nice-casual, solid neighborhood go-to spot.

I didn't realize this was so close to my residence until I found it on OpenTable and decided to try it. We will definitely return with friends..the food and selection were very good and I'm anxious to try more options. The only reason I checked "loud" on the noise level was that we were outside so the noise was unavoidable.

As always, lunch was perfect. And to add to that we sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather and the sound of the fountain and just enjoyed a terrific mid-day get together. The wait staff at Paolo's is always attentive and friendly and efficient!!

We had one of the booths right near the kitchen with an extremely narrow table that was somewhat uncomfortable/awkward. The appetizer and drinks that we had were very good, but the main entrees were mediocre. With many other options for italian food in the area, I don't think we'll be returning again soon.

I've had mixed experiences with service and food on my many visits to Paolo's. This trip to Reston Town Center everything clicked and we had a very enjoyable experience. It can really vary on service, lots of 'new and inexperienced' staff at times - go early to beat the evening rush and slow service!

This was a Mother's Day Brunch. The food was very good. Of course, it was very crowded because of the special event so the noise level was high and the service was not quite as attentive as it might otherwise have been. Overall, though, we had a very good experience. Thank you!

The restaurant overbooked for Mothers Day, and so they were not able to seat us very promptly. However, the hostess and her team were attentive, and she seated us as soon as possible (after a 10 minute wait). Our server was also attentive and supportive - a nice plus given the buffet style meal that Paolo's was offering.

    Dined on 5/11/2008
Honesty, for $33 a plate, I expected much better service and much better food than the buffet that Poalo's attempted to trot out this past Mother's Day. I was also hoping you had something more than just a run of the mill buffet. The food was absolutely dreadful--the waffles could have doubled as bullet proof vests--and we had to track down wait staff a full 20 minutes after first being seated. I understand if this was Paolo's opening...but they have been around for years. The service was piss-poor, and the food was a complete catastrophy. Glad I invited mom and dad out for Mother's Day, only to drop $160 bucks for 3 on a brunch that tasted nothing short of ASS.

  • I only get to Paolo's once
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 5/8/2008
I only get to Paolo's once or twice a year (for special occasions and with out of town guests) but it has been my favorite restaurant since I moved to Virginia in the '90s. Sadly, the menu had changed and my old standbys were no longer there. I ordered the grilled chicken tortoloni. It was terrible. The pasta was not just al dente-- it had barely been cooked. And the chicken was both tough and flavorless. The waiter would disappear for great lengths of time and we would have to flag him down if we needed something. Even the dessert (the cappuccino mousse cake) was a disappointment. At least they still have the tapenade. I think my love affair with Paolo's is over.

We hadn't been to Paolo's in about 6 months, and were somewhat disappointed. The menu featured meat & potatoes style food at upscale prices. Extremely noisy and uncomfortably warm inside. If / when we go might we might check out the pasta dishes, as the meats were not up to the previous chef's abilities.

Was not fishing for anything, just would of been nice to mention, congrats, attn on evening. Service was good and food came out right on time, actually very quick. Would go back, being in business - very critical of what "we" do with the information our guests give us, cues. Had a great night, thanks.

The kitchen was unable to accommodate a special request. I ordered something else that was good though. I was hoping that because of the limited number of diners in the restaurant the chef could make a bolognese sauce without carrots. I may be in a minority when it comes to food presentation but I prefer the food first to be tasty and adequate in portion with presentation next. I ordered bruschetta and while it was good there were only 3 on the plate. I'm aware of the design aspects of odd numbers presenting better than even numbers but the items weren't very large and it becomes a bit awkward splitting odd numbers of food items among even numbers of diners. And even numbers of diners is much more common than odd.

I always enjoy Paolo's. A little loud, due to the wood floors, but not a problem. When spring arrives and the outdoor area is open, it will be memorable. Excellent consistancy in the food. We love the breadsticks and tampanade. One of my personal favorites is their tomato bisque. My friend adores the minestrone. A very good expereince

We were not happy with the risotto which came with the specials, but were happily surprised to receive a dessert, which was fine. The server, however, needed more training (he was a trainee). He didn't remember what we'd ordered, didn't put in the order promptly, and persistently called two ladies old enough to be his grandmothers "you guys". We are not "guys".

Normally this restaurant is better, however the waiter was very pushy. He said that the breadsticks and tapenade were a "gift" from the cheff and it is really standard operating proceedure. He was clearly trying to sell the most expensive wine. Then he kept asking us about desert in the middle of the meal. I told him several times I was still eating, but he asked us again. He should have just looked at our plates to see that they were 1/2 full and I still had my fork in my hand. I do not know his name, I wish I did. We were sitting in a booth on the window side of the restaruant. Left hand side when you walk in (door to your back). I almost complained to the mgr, but just didn't feel like dealing with it. I'm glad you all asked
