A word from Montgomery Inn - At the Boathouse
Montgomery Inn at the Boathouse is one of the most popular restaurants in Greater Cincinnati. Our world-famous ribs, our friendly service, and our striking view of the Ohio River, makes us a unique restaurant that you and your friends & family will remember long after your meal is over.

Sports fans will love the upstairs sports lounge with sports memorabilia on the walls, as well as the autographed photos of famous visitors who have dropped by. So come on in and get yourself some ribs and watch your favorite team in a fun, classy atmosphere.

Our world-famous ribs are definitely a hard act to follow but we found a way. For dessert, indulge in another Cincinnati culinary tradition: Graeter's black raspberry chip ice cream.

I don't know how they do it, but the Boathouse has the best "fall off the bone", family secret BBQ sauce ribs. Consistent time after time, if you love ribs and are in downtown Cincinnati, you need to check out Montgomery Inn at the Boathouse.

Food was excellent. Service was good. I was a little disappointed in the wait. I made reservations for 8:00 and we didn't get seated until almost 8:45. I don't mind waiting 10 or 15 minutes but 45 for a reservation was a little long and no apologies.

We dined at Montgomery Inn Boathouse, where we had a window table with a terrific view of the river. Our server, Jerry, was friendly and met our mood for the night--upbeat. The food quality and taste are never a surprise, especially if you always order the same thing. In my case Cantonese shrimp/ribs combo. Know what you like and like what you know.

We had a very large group of 16 people. I first made an online reservation, but it was only capable of reserving for 10. I called twice to add to the reservation, and was accommodated both times with no problem. We were seated promptly and served relatively quickly and the food was outstanding! I would definitely recommend to anyone with a large group or for a special event.

Everything was delightful. Our waiter Ron was outstanding. He meant our needs before we knew what they were. His timing was impeccable. He didn't hover over us or neglect us. I felt like he was Radar from Mash. Food as always was wonderful. Thank you very much for being a consistently wonderful restaurant. This restaurant provides it all for any occasion.

Montgomery Ribs used to be an excellent restaurant, but the food is only mediocre and definitely not worth the price. Ordering a 1/2 slab of ribs served on a large white plate all alone with no garnish, etc, kind of sad. The saratoga chips are NOW considered a SIDE order...come on, how much does it cost to fry up some thinly sliced potatoes. The restaurant was empty at 3:30 and we felt hurried to order and get the heck out. My only trip back will be with my out of town relative who loves your BBQ sauce. Sad to see a once very much enjoyed restaurant is no longer on any of my lists of places to eat in the Queen City.

We were going to be in town for a football game and recalled an appearance on the Food Network by the Montgomery Inn. We were impressed by the show and were certainly not disappointed by the food, ambience and service there! The ribs and salmon were succulent and the Saratoga chips with hot bbq sauce was a unique pleasure! I would highly recommend going there for anyone in the Cincinnati area -- we will definitely return when we pass through there again!

We had a nice dinner and the view was spectacular. Service was great when we were finally seated. I made what Open Table represented as a "Reservation", showed up on time and then had to wait 40 minutes for a table. The manager explained they have been asking Open Table for some time to remove the word "Reservation"....they only take "Preferred Seating". That just means you get to the front of the long line. Since we planned our evening around the reservation, it was quite inconvenient.

I sat at a booth. There was a huge party that took up two tables roughly 50 people. They were very loud and rude,a few of them came and stood at our booth, they were holding on to the top of it. they were talking so loud that me and my husband couldnt hear each other. The food was very good but it was cold. I had made a reservation and we still waited over 45 minutes.

This is one of my very favorite restaurants. Since we live over an hour and a half away, we don't get to eat here as often as we would like to. We were there 10/26/13 for my daughter's birthday and we were given a table with a beautiful view of the river, the service was amazing, and the food was perfect. The duck is every bit as good as what we had in Paris.

The service was professional and fun, the view of the river was spectacular! I was able to book a reservation easily online the same day. The food was mostly excellent. I had a combo of crab cake and the special beef ribs. The crab cake quality was not great - it seemed reheated from a frozen pack. The ribs were outstanding - melt in your mouth. The rest of the food was also very good and the amount of food was enough for a doggie bag. The parking lot is small, so they reserve it for valet. We felt it was worth the price to not have to park along the street.

I had specifically requested a table with good river view weeks ahead of time. Upon arrival they claimed they could not seat us until the whole party was there even though several of us were there and I had a broken foot. They made a big deal about giving us special service to go ahead and seat us after the Manager checked it out and decided there was no harm in doing so. There was an open table with good view and they would not seat us there b/c they said someone else requested it. (prior to my 3 weeks ago reservation?) The server was nice but seemed overwhelmed with either our party of 8 or with too many tables.

We went for my stepson's birthday. I had actually put that it was his birthday on the reservation, but when I ordered dessert, telling the waitress that it was his birthday, she said, oh, I wish I would have known that, I would have put a candle on it. Obviously, they don't look at the notes when you make a reservation through Open Table. Our water glasses were always full and the ribs kept coming (all-you-can-eat rib event.) The caramel cake was especially delish.

It was our fourth time there and this time we were disappointed. I had the 2- combination with a Crab cake and Shrimp. It is my fault that I didn't read the full description, because the shrimp were deep fried. They are served with their delicious BBQ, but this sauce is much to over powering for sea food. That's at least according to my taste buds. The crab cake had unfortunately no taste. I ordered the green beans at a side and they were delicious, but to my surprise very oily We bring all of our out-of town guests there since all previous visits were awesome, and I love the scenery. Lesson learned - stick with the ribs, that's whart they are famous for

I've been eating at the Boathouse for two decades now and the place is remarkably consistent. We had a very good experience. We had an 8PM reservation on a Saturday night...however we still waited 20 minutes for our table. The restaurant was remarkably busy but everything seemed to run smoothly. When our beeper went off we were sat quickly. Unfortunately it was next to a large and loud party of 14 which made the already noisy ambiance a bit overwhelming. Our service at the table was excellent as was the food. The ribs never disappoint but the combinations and sandwiches are also quite good. The main parking lot is valet only so come prepared but it's relatively inexpensive and very fast. You can park along the main road but it's a hike.

Food was great as usual. Only bad thing was I made a reservation and somehow we still ended up waiting about 30 minutes to get seated. I had some family in from out of town, including an aunt who recently had a knee replacement and it was a bit of a challenge for her to stand around the whole time as there were no chairs. I requested a table with a nice view of the river when I made my reservation which was totally ignored. Instead we got seated right inbetween the kitchen and lobby so we had traffic from both constantly going by. The lobby traffic also brought with it the cold outside air as everyone was freezing and we ate while wearing our jackets. The food is great but dont think we will be coming back.

My wife, my oldest son and my nephew from Kansas City joined me for a memorable evening on the Ohio. Of course, the view is spectacular. Anyone from out of town will be quite impressed with the décor and the sports memorabilia collection. The full rack of ribs is the only way to go at the Boathouse. My son called me the following day to tell me again how much he enjoyed his dinner. My nephew said that he won't be able to eat any KC barbecue after dining at Montgomery Inn. He's only been gone two days and he is texting me to send him some sauce through the mail.

Overpriced and overrated. The ribs fell off the bone but were dry. The steak special was just ok. The server touted it as being the best filet he's ever had and that we probably wouldn't even need our steak knives. Apparently he doesn't get out much. It's my own fault for ordering a steak that's all covered in other stuff as a quality steak needs nothing. The filet I had at outback the week prior was much better. Do yourself a favor and go to Eli's for BBQ...and save $50 while you're at it.

Chose it as a spot to enjoy a special dinner and a fall sunset by the water. A busy Saturday night, but the service was great all around. Short wait for a table, enjoyed the sunset from the upstairs bar. Lively but classy bar atmosphere. Server was fantastic; she knows the menu. Starter of chips and onion straws tasty, but the "BBQ" dipping sauce with it was too ketchupy. Heard about ribs being shipped across country, so we ordered 3 different rib combos. None lived up to the hype. The meat was tender and cooked well, but the abundant sauce covering ribs was more like spaghetti sauce than BBQ. Shrimp and crab cake pairings were bland. Priced as you'd expect for the location, but disappointed that the food was just meh.

We made reservations and were told upon arrival that priority seating was running 30mins behind so be prepared to wait even if you have made a reservation. We happned to dine on an evening where there was a homecoming dance at a local high school and the place was literally packed with young teenagers socializing and walking back and forth throughout the restaurant the entire time we were dining. Even with the addtional noise and distraction of the kids our service was good and our meal was delicious. If you don't mind a busy, loud and distracting evnironment however if you are looking for a quiet romantic dinner stay away!!

Of course, we expected the Boathouse to be crowded but thought we had a reservation for 6:30 to alleviate the crowd issue. Unfortunately, when we arrived at 6:30 we learned that we didn't have a reservation, merely priority seating. After spending 45 minutes in the bar, we were finally seated. The service was ok but the food was very average and served cold.

We arrived a bit late for our reservation but after calling ahead we were told they would hold it for 30 minutes. We chose the valet parking and those guys were great...we sat outside overlooking the river for a couple of cocktails and were called to our table a short time later...Our waiter was very personable and took great care of us....OUr food was delicious and we were in and out of there in two hours...Overall it was outstanding

My wife and I ordered ribs; our friend ordered a hefty steak. All dishes were delicious. I think we ate absolutely ate everything we ordered. Bob Hope loved these ribs and would have them shipped to his home often. Thank goodness we don't have to go to those lengths to have them!

The Boathouse is always a favorite for guests from out of town. Unfortunately, I remember when the ribs were actually fall-off-the-bone, no-fat, succulent fare. Now you can tell they are pre-cooked and not always the juicy meat that Ted Gregory served at his restaurants in the 70's and 80's. I think they are good BUT no longer the EXCELLENT quality from the old days. My husband and I knew Ted personally and I think he would have rated the ribs served today as a bit sub-par. I guess that's what happens when the business gets too big and the quality is sacrificed for quantity.
