A word from Brigantine Del Mar
A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history. "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today.

Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.

Perched between the spectacular Pacific Ocean and the hills of Rancho Santa Fe, the Del Mar Brigantine sits high above the action of the Del Mar racetrack.

A lushly landscaped garden offers an unparalleled setting for weddings and outdoor-themed events. Indoors, a formal dining room looks out to the garden through floor-to-ceiling french doors. For more casual dining, the glass-enclosed deck is a year-round favorite.

The Del Mar Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, lunch Monday-Saturday, and brunch each Sunday.

We were disappointed that the 1:15 pm menu on a major holiday (New Years Day) was only that of brunch. Had we known, we would have gone to another restaurant that was serving a dinner menu for the holiday. Because we had a large party, we didn't have the luxury of leaving and heading elsewhere at the last minute.

Our brunch reservations were for the dining room but there was a large loud crowd so we asked for other options. There is a great patio at the end of the bar and seating overlooking the racetrack. With the weather inthe 70s this was a perfect venue, quiet and warm! The food was great as always.

The deck is nice and completely enclosed now. Heaters for winter. Main dining room a bit too jammed packed. Noise level too high for quiet conversation. Bar is fun with more seating now. Food wasn't up to par; artichoke fritters luke warm. Caesar salad not cold enough. My husbands steak was good and properly cooked but the wrong side came. He didn't mind. Vegetarians are completely invisible short of artichoke fritters and a salad. Polenta, pasta, something is needed for us!

I've eaten at the Brigantine for lunch before, so when it was my birthday, I thought it'd be a good choice for dinner. The reservation was perfect and we were seated right away, but we were next to a group of very loud men who had probably been there since happy hour started. It was also quite dark which made it difficult to read the menu. Our server was very nice and made great recommendations. The food also came out very quickly which was nice. The appetizer (Napa Valley Nachos) and entrees (crab cakes and 'catch of the day') were awesome. The desserts were just okay. The creme brulee was cold and too sweet. The mud pie was enormous, way too much for one person. The restaurant seemed to calm down as the evening went on.

We went here for my son's 17th birthday dinner. He'd only been here once and my younger sons never. We all very much enjoyed our dinners, and all fell in love with the jalapeno white sauce with our chips. Even though we were all full, the mud pie was a hit with all my sons, and we all left stuffed and happy.

Had the swordfish tacos & they were excellent as usual. My daughter had the Alfredo pasta and said it was awesome. But the best part of our lunch was our server Nicole! She was the best. She was attentive and helpful. I have eaten here many times and the servers have always been good but Nicole clearly is the best. I love when you feel welcome and that your server is happy to be at work. She was a gem and we will be requesting to sit in her area next time. She made a good lunch simply prefect

This was our first visit to Del Mar (we're from Denver), and, of course, our first time at Brigantine's. It was wonderful from start to finish. We had a wonderful server, the oysters were absolutely delicious - so very fresh tasting. I had a crab salad (again, just wonderful) and scallops for my entree. My husband's food was equally satisfying. We had such a great time and enjoyed our table by the window. Thank you, Brigantine's!

This was the first time we tried the Brigantine for Brunch. Food was good and while pretty busy, the ambience was great. Only weak spot was the parking - even though they have a parking lot, all their parking is valet parking, I have no issues paying for valet if there is no parking, but when the lot is reasonably empty and I have to pay to park my car and walk 50 yards to the door, that irritates me!

Had a great experience once in the restaurant. However. We arrived @ 7:30pm for an 8:00pm reservation. We were turned away from their parking area by one of the valets who said "sorry we are full". I told him we had a reservation, but he said it didn't matter and we could park on one of the two (very busy and full) streets. I said I would prefer to let my wife off and wait in the car until a spot opened up for them to take my car. He said, no since he wasn't sure how long that would take since they had 2 events. "So, please take your car to one of the streets". I did (it took about 10 minutes) and by the time I came back they were parking new arrivals! Do NOT go on a weekend night!

We haven't been to The Brig in a while and did not want to participate in restaurant week. Valet parking was efficient. We were seated right away. Service was attentive Food was just ok, step up from cafeteria, missing flavor pizzaz! Appetizers, nachos were dry and worn out, crab dip was good but grilled bread was not grilled crisply. I had the salmon with the under committed curry cream sauce. Too rich and not enough flavor. The salmon was over cooked and dry. No vegan selections Will I return? Sure, will I run back tomorrow? Probably not!

I think we had the best table on the patio, looking towards the Del Mar Racetrack and passing trains. A nice alternative was prepared when I mentioned an allergy -- great dinner. Only negative was that our server seemed to be in a hurry to clear our table -- took away bread, bread plates, etc. while we were still dining.

We had dinner here because of the great reviews. While the place is very nice and the staff excellent, the food was not as good as we had hoped. We ordered the lobster and cheese fondue which was absolutely excellent and the best thing we had for dinner. The Caesar salad lacked dressing. For dinner we ordered the crab stuffed prawns wrapped in bacon with a white jalepeno sauce and the special sea bass with mushroom sauce. The only thing you could taste of the prawns was the bacon and the sauce really didnt have a flavor. The sea bass was good but the sauce had more of a lemon taste than anything else.

But I recommend, make sure when you make reservations on line you confirm it with the hostess before you get seated, THEY FORGOT MY BIRTHDAY. My husband had to remind them at the table.

Arrived at 6:10 for a 6:30 reservation and was told by a very young, inexperienced girl we would have to wait 20 minutes. Noticed a section of the restaurant with one table occupied and at least ten tables open, and a wait person working the area. Said what about that area? Clueless then said "Oh, well okay" and we were seated.

Great sauce. The calamari appetizer was so-so. (bit overdone). I had the spinach salad; again, so-so, it would be better if served not ice cold, but more room temp-more flavor.
