A word from Brigantine Del Mar
A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history. "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today.

Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.

Perched between the spectacular Pacific Ocean and the hills of Rancho Santa Fe, the Del Mar Brigantine sits high above the action of the Del Mar racetrack.

A lushly landscaped garden offers an unparalleled setting for weddings and outdoor-themed events. Indoors, a formal dining room looks out to the garden through floor-to-ceiling french doors. For more casual dining, the glass-enclosed deck is a year-round favorite.

The Del Mar Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, lunch Monday-Saturday, and brunch each Sunday.

This is a perfect spot for dinner after the horse races. We were especially pleased when we were moved after we had been at one table for a while and was getting a weird vibe, like everyone was staring at us. I had the crab stuffed shrimp with bacon. The bacon and crab filling were great, but the shrimp where a little too rubbery for my taste. My husbands seafood platter was very good! The veggies, rice, and fries were very good also.

I've been to The Brigantine a few times. My parents were in town and have always wanted to visit. It was a Monday night so we thought it would be no problem. To our surprise it was crazy busy at 7:30 and there weren't any seats with much of a view. Out of 6 of us, I was the only one who liked their meal (scallops). The swordfish tacos were dry, the poke tacos weren't very tasty and my Mom's lobster was dry and the corn was terribly overcooked. The kids' sliders were burnt. Not a good night for us, no view and a pricey bill (which would have been fine had the view or food been better).

We went here to celebrate birthday and were very disappointed with food, except the appetizer. Burger wasn't the best; was supposed to have caramelized onions, but they were raw; shoe string potatoes were mediocre and the coleslaw was tasteless with no dressing as if it was just dumped from the bag. Beer battered pollack wasn't as good as the frozen Alaskan beer battered cod I get from Costco; one piece was mostly just batter with a big air bubble inside.

First time here was great, this time very disappointing. Great table by window looking out over race course where we had just come from, very noisy with a wedding party though. Service was awful and slow, we had 2 bottles of wine and basically poured it ourselves, food was reasonable although my significant others "safe" burger as a medium per recommendation came out burnt and took so long to get replaced we had all finished ours so went to subway instead before catching the train. My pacific sea bass special was very good but certainly looked and tasted like swordfish so not sure what happened there. Wouldn't recommend dining here from this and not intending coming back.

The Brigatine is a great restaurant with nice views overlooking Del Mar race track. The problem is the crowds you get on race days and particularly on the weekends really slow down the service. The waiters and bartenders are overwhelmed or understaffed, I can't decide which. Service is very slow and getting your car out of valet is a nightmare. Despite this, the Brig is a great place go have lunch or a drink before the races. Just be patient and give yourself plenty of time.

Wait staff was friendly and helpful. Six in our group, but there was a several parties and a wedding going on and they didn't miss a beat. Had oysters on the half, clam chowder, chicken marsala, short ribs and pomegranate shakers. Everything was delicious and the wait for the food was relatively short for as busy as it was. Will be going back again next trip to the area.

We told our waitress we were not in a hurry and wanted to have a relaxing dinner. We ordered drinks. She pushed us to start ordering the meal. We ordered soup and salad course. Before we had time to even sip our drinks, she brought soup and salad and asked for our entree orders. Before we could finish the soup and salad our meals arrived. We had to make a decision - eat our food while it was hot and leave soup and sale until later or finish those and eat our meal cold.

We ordered a shrimp cocktail as an appetizer and it came the same time as our entrees. I said to hold our entrees. When they brought them back, both the swordfish and halibut were overcooked and dry and inedible. The Halibut was a special, but the sauce they paired with it did not go. My wife also ordered a Marguerita that comes in a shaker, but no shaker. They replaced it with a shaker, but the drink tasted watered down. We both left disappointed and hungry!!

We brought our family (includes 2 children, ages 4 and 9) to Brigantine on our recent vacation. The service was great, our waiter was friendly and suggested a few dishes which we hadn't considered. The meal was delicious, and our drinks were perfect. The place is a bit noisy, but the outside air, and the overall vibe was fun. Would definitely recommend to others.

went here on Friday with a party of 9. we arrived at 5:45 for our 6:00 reservation but were seated right away. our waiter was quick to order drinks. we ordered 2 appetizers which arrived in 5 minutes. we then placed our entree order which arrived about 10 minutes later. one guestfinished her meal before the rest, her plate was removed right away, this started a domino efexeffect of plares being removed one by one, the last diners plate was almost taken before she finished. after everyone was done we place our dessert order- total elapsed time now 35 minutes. our dessert arrived in about 3 minutes. very rushed. not supposed to be a fast food restaurant.

Tate our waiter he was awesome and he had great recommendations. Nice strong drinks not stingy at all on the alcohol :) The swordfish tacos were amazing! So flavorful and scrumptious. Oh the oysters topped with wonton were fantastic! Overall everything was just right for my birthday dinner. Thank you Brigantine for a beautiful night.

It was my first time coming here and I wasn't disappointed. The service was VERY GOOD! I ordered the NY Steak and my husband ordered Filet Mignon. I've always doubted most restaurants on how good they can make their steaks, so far…there's only a few and this restaurant got my steak right!!! Succulent, juicy steak…just the way I like it!!! It was my husband's birthday, and they gave him a free mud pie cake for dessert which was huge, with a candle! I love this place!

Our dinner here was overall good. Our server CoCo was the very best. Her customer service was excellent. She made our time here the best it could be. The view was so beautiful and the feel of the restaurant just great. The food was better than average but not that great. We had to send back our seafood Bouillabaisse because the seafood was way over cooked and the broth tasted like water. However, that being said I would give this restaurant another chance and come here again. I do wish they would bring back the crab stuffed prawns wrapped in bacon with the jalapeno white sauce. Oh we had oysters on the half shell that were excellent and a crab cobb salad that was delish. The dressing was soooo good. The clam chowder was ok.

Food, atmosphere and service has gotten better each year, for the last ten years just simply great. Prices had gone up, but, compared with other restaurants in the area, very reasonable price wise. The bar scene is not for me, but needed, because all in the area have the bar scene, if they are successful. I like the separate booths, they are removed from the bar noise. the dining/bar spaces are carefully arranged to provide a separate experience, for young and old. I once frequented the bar area, no longer. EXCEPT FOR TACO TUESDAYS!! Another great idea! I always come here for my favorite times and birthdays.

The view here is wonderful and the menu perfect for beach dining. We were a bit upset about the services ... we had a good waitress but she had too many tables and was not very attentive. Maybe they need to hire more bus boys?Really left dirty plates on the table way to long. This was our first time and we would go back. The drink menu is good too but might want to add some local craft beers.

One customer was able to delay the entire line for 5 to 7+ minutes (an eternity) at the hostess stand. Guy who brought the water was great. Waitress displayed little interest in our table. Food was marginal; not unacceptable but not really very good either. Loud; people all around were speaking too loud. The noise just bounced around. I had trouble hearing the others at the table for four. Seemed expensive considering the experience and quality of the food.
