A word from Brigantine Del Mar
A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history. "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today.

Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.

Perched between the spectacular Pacific Ocean and the hills of Rancho Santa Fe, the Del Mar Brigantine sits high above the action of the Del Mar racetrack.

A lushly landscaped garden offers an unparalleled setting for weddings and outdoor-themed events. Indoors, a formal dining room looks out to the garden through floor-to-ceiling french doors. For more casual dining, the glass-enclosed deck is a year-round favorite.

The Del Mar Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, lunch Monday-Saturday, and brunch each Sunday.

Nice overall atmosphere, nice garden views and the train passes right by so that is entertaining, but not noisey. For starters my husband had the Seared Ahi which he said was great, I thought my Clam Chowder was average, my niece had a Spinach Salad which she said was very good. For the main course I had the Macadamia Mahi Mahi and this was cooked perfectly and it had small chunks of Macadamia that you could actually taste which is not usually the case with this dish. My husbands Prime Rib was tough, but my niece said her New York was very tender. So overall, mixed reviews, but this is primarily a fish house so I'd say stay with the fish. The service was attentive. Womens Restroom - two stalls, one was out of order the other out of TP.

Although I cannot speak for the general restaurant, I can say that this restaurant was absolutely pathetic for Restaurant Week. None of the items served were on the regular menu and they were designed to be as cheap as possible. Considering it was 30 dollars a person, I estimate that the food cost for the dishes were about 4 dollars. Not only that but they tasted as if they came from a cafeteria, only the portions were microscopic. I will never come here again, nor recommend it to anyone because I firmly believe that if a restaurant valued the quality of their food, they would never allow something so heinous to leave their kitchen. What a disgrace...

The food and service was wonderful, we were able to begin while waiting for friends. The birthday cake at the end of my meal(I was celebrating my birthday with friends) was delicious and they make a wonderful chocolate cake martini!! It was easily accessible and comfortable temperature. I was surprised they didn't ask if we wanted to take the remaining of our food home, but I just guessed they didn't offer "doggie bags". I will definitely return and recommend this restaurant to others.

The Ambience was set nestled into a booth which overlooked the delmar Fairgrounds the beautiful fire pit and park setting outside...we ordered the coconut shrimp for starters. Which arrived promptly on a grilled Pineapple pared with a delicious dipping sauce. What followed was absolutely amazing the pork chop nestled upon a steaming mound of mashed sweet potatoes and steamed asparagus, topped with thinly sliced dried apples. Mouthwateringly delicious! The dessert was the spoon fed brownie topped with vanilla ice cream amazing! We walked away very full and happy!

I was not happy with the mandatory valet only because I had to wait about 10 minutes to get my car. If they are not capable of getting your car right away then why would they take on that task....noone wants to be forced to wait. Other than that I was very pleased with my experience! Extra thanks to the Hostess for having my wife's flowers already placed on the table!

Fish was good, sides were only ok and therefore disappointing for the price. No fish taco's on the dinner menu, just go to the bar if you want those. Hostess was snobby but waitress was nice. Overall if you really love fish then try it, but otherwise don't bother with the dinner menu and sit at the bar.

The server we had, a big & tall, middle-age gentleman, was one of the worst servers I have had in a long, long time. His manner was harsh & unfriendly, and he seemed more interested in rushing us to finish (so he could serve more tables per night maybe?) than being nice, friendly and facilitating a nice dinner. I have always really enjoyed my prior Brigantine Del Mar dining experiences and will return, hoping this was just one odd experience. However, if this type of service happens again, I will certainly never return. There are too many other good restaurants that provide excellent service (e.g., Market Del Mar) to bother with bad service anywhere.

Having dined at other Brigantines throughout the state; I anticipated a typically good meal at this location. On the brunch menu A puff pastry filled with crab meat sounded great. Both myself and my special foreign guest ordered this item (with wine, coffee, salad, etc). The first problem encountered was a decaf cup of coffee that was tepid at best. I assumed the waitress left it sit too long so, after sipping half of it, asked for another which again was tepid. I told our server of the problem and that someone might have accidentaly tuned off the machine and would she please bring me a hot cup of regular coffee.BOTH crab puff pastry were VERY mushy and void of crab i.e. Terrible! I made no mention of it, paid my bill & left---forever!!
